Just got back yesterday evening..........We had a great time! We were there 7 days, 6 nights. (1 night was at AOA) We loved POR! We were in building 90 -Oak Manor, right in front of the pool. We had a Royal room. It was our first time there and we loved it!! We would definetly go back again and again! The food from the food court was also really good!

We leave Sunday for a week's stay at POR...Has anyone heard of any trouble with the magic bands getting X-rayed at the airport..Just curious. 3 1/2 day's and counting.

I've read a few reports that there's no issues with it. We arrive Friday am for our 1st POR visit...and excited to check it out (and the magicbands)!

I assume that we should both check in on-line as soon as possible, but do we both need to fax request to have rooms as close as possible to each other? Also we are celebrating our anniversary while we are down there should I let them know that as well in our fax?

Correct.

You should also have your requests added to your original reservation in the meantime (and link the two bookings).

How did you find the pool view rooms to be? How was the walk to the main building and bus stop?

They were great! The pool area was always pretty quiet in the Oak Manor. The pool with the slide and activities was a bit far from us but it was convenient to the food court. There's also a playground and hammocks in that pool area and a bar for the adults. The walk to the bus and main lobby was very quick just a quick walk across the bridge to both the South bus depot and the main lobby. We were also near the East bus depot however didn't use that stop. We liked walking across the short bridge and also being near the main lobby and store.

Safe travels to all you starting your vacation soon.

I have a question on how to handle the following, we (my family, my parents and my sister's family) are all booked with packages and the dining plan. My sister's package starts on Tuesday 11/26, but just found out today, she may be able to leave on Monday. It looks like there will not be any cost in changing the dates for her airfare. The only flights available right now, have them arriving late evening. It would be a waste to pay for an extra day for dining, so I thought they should do a room only reservation for Monday night and keep the package starting on Tuesday. What would you guys do, add a day to the package or a room only? How likely would it be for them to keep the same room (booking the same category)?

If they are arriving late evening, why not book a room off property for the night -- something on International Drive perhaps just for the night's sleep and then head off to the World and hit the magic early?

So do I just go to the My Reservations page and link her's to our's and vice versa? Would it be better to do over the phone? I have to call this weekend anyways, the website shows multiple tickets for each member of our family and I want to make sure it's right before we leave.

We got back Saturday night from a 9 day stay at POR. Everything was wonderful with the exception of a couple of bumps that were handled promptly by the ever efficient POR staff. We checked in on Friday 8/30 at 11:00 am and our room was ready. When we got to the room we discovered the safe would not lock. We called for assistance and went to lunch at the Riverside Mill. When we returned to the room the safe was fixed.
We decided to make rope drop on Sunday and set our alarm for 6:30 so we could shower and have breakfast. at 3:34 am our fire alarm went off. We quickly got out of the room to discover no one else was evacuating, it was only our rooms fire alarm gong off. The night duty manager had things quieted down within 20 minutes and fully repaired the next day while we were at the parks. Yes we made rope drop. We didn't complain about this because these things happen. I even went down and spoke to the front desk manager to make sure they knew we appreciated how quickly they handled the incident. On a side note, the company I work for sponsers Spaceship Earth. This past Friday I was in the VIP lounge waiting for the rain to let up and found out that our company provided the software used to design the Mars Rover and that one of the prototypes may be in Spaceship Earth on display from November 11th through January 5th pending final approval. We're planning a new trip for then to see the rover and of course the Christmas lights and decorations.

Andre,
While we were at POR last week my hubby required medical help and 911 was called and the fire dept came and helped. I was wondering if there was someone I could contact to find out the names of the 2 fire fighters who helped my hubby. I never noticed/or asked their names--Its something one forgets while in the middle of a crisis. The CM's and fire dept were quick to respond and very professional and friendly. I commend all involved :firefight

Thanks Andre if you know this info

Good morning...cheerful as usual I see. :thumbsup2

I really try to be. We have to be like this at work so it bleeds out into off the clock life for me. Plus I know guest and future guests get a kick out of hearing that. Kind of makes their day! What makes others happy does really make me happy knowing I can do something for someone I have never met in order for them to have a better day/experience!

~My personal Quote also got thrown in there.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have sent it off to my sister. However, I think with 2 little ones, they may not want to move, but who knows?

Does anyone know if you can pick up Will Call Halloween party tickets at the front desk? Or do I need to go to like guest services at DTD?

We were able to pick ours up from the concierge desk at CBR last trip. I would think the concierge at POR would be the same.

How is it that a "Disney expert" travel agent does not know some of the simple stuff I have found out just by browsing this and other websites? :confused3 She goes to Disney 10x as much as I do, but does not know that online checkin has changed from 10 to 60 days. Knows nothing of the MB/FP+ test in September and October at POR, but only knows that Disney will contact her if I am chosen to test :rolleyes1

I wouldn't move with my two little ones. I want to take the Magical Express, check in and not move resorts until we go home. Just my opinion, with my kids. Also, having extra dining isn't a bad thing. Especially if it's free...and you'll be using two credits for one meal (like a signature).
