Did you guys have a room with two queen beds? and just the two of you? I think its so silly they dont offer any king size royal rooms!

That's why my post said it was "sort of" the downside :rotfl: I felt the same way! :rotfl:

YAY for South Carolina! My husband really loved the room. He said it felt cozy and he especially loved "playing with" the fireworks on the headboard! I felt like I had a 5 year old with me :rotfl: His favorite thing, though, was the property. We hadn't stayed there before because we live in Charleston and we felt like it would seem too much like home (you know, southern charm type feel,) but I think that's WHY we loved it. It felt like home and Disney had come together :goodvibes

Confession: I am obsessed with the fireworks on the headboard.

And I totally get what you're saying about home and Disney coming together. We spend summers on the coast and POR is a great place to come home to at the end of the day - the Southern charm and hospitality of home combined with the magic of Disney! :goodvibes

This is probably a strange question but here it goes...

In the showers in the AB rooms, do they still have a pull out clothesline to dry clothes on? I didn't see one in the pics that I have seen, but it is hard to tell. We have always found it so useful to hang bathing suits on to dry so I hope they haven't gotten rid of them. Anyone know?

I can answer this. Yes they do.

Hey Everyone!

We are just back from a 3-nights stay from 6/29 to 7/2 at POR. It was our first stay there. We thoroughly enjoyed POR. We stayed in a royal room...Oak Manor 9056. Anyone have any questions?

I do! How was the walk to the parking lot and to the food court/bus stop? I usually book preferred but my girls would love the Royal Rooms!
Glad you had a great trip!

I know there is a microwave in the food court, but I was wondering if there is any other microwaves or would they be ok for us to heat a heating bag in it? or can we get a microwave for our room? My hubby has a fair bit of pain and is on meds but finds a heating bag really helps.

30 Days until our trip and I'm wondering the same thing except for the Royal Rooms. Do they have a clothesline in the shower? I used one a month ago on a room-only stay at a Value... it was so handy!

I want to tell you my heart sunk when we were not in Acadian House. Until the royal rooms, Oak Manor was my fav.

I always used to be an Alligator Bayou person (as that was the first place we stayed). I couldn't really imagine staying in those big ostentatious mansion buildings instead of our lovely secluded bayou lodges. Until we ended up in a mansion one time (we were planning to ask to switch back to AB the very next day) and found we loved them too. In short, the whole resort is lovely.

Can you request bed rails?

Yes.

They do have a VERY limited quantity of microwaves which you can request for in-room use, or at least they certainly used to.

Yes, it pulls out across the bath.

So is my husband! Every morning, first thing he pushed that thing and every night last thing...don't tell him I told you! ;)

Thanks so much! Funny how something as small as a clothesline can make me so happy, LOL!

Yeah, me, too! My husband asked "hey, where did you get that clothesline?" :confused3 :rotfl2:

Like Andre said...the whole resort is awesome. I'm thinking about AB next time. We just stayed in a RR and I'm thinking about AB this next round. Every time we pass them on the bus in the evening, I always think they look so cozy and serene.

In AB section is the area under the bed open or closed off? At CBR, CSR, & POFQ the area is closed so you can't put anything under the bed.

If it is open, how tall (approximately) is the area? I'm wondering if our suitcases would fit under the bed.

Thanks!

I believe all beds in remodeled rooms, which includes all of PO, have the under bed area closed off. This is probably for cleanliness as it makes the rooms much easier to clean properly.

It also helps prevent things from getting kicked under there and left behind :thumbsup2

Yay! I just upgraded us to a RR standard view for our trip Thanksgiving week!!! So excited, we did have a garden view room but figured that a RR theming will make up for the standard view, the resort is gorgeous anyway.....can't wait!

By the parking lot, do you mean to where you park your own car? Again, we were in Oak Manor, right where the AED mark is as you look at the map, facing the courtyard on the river side. We parked as the signs directed us to in the far side of the parking lot in between Oak Manor and Magnolia Terrace. It was an easy walk down the green paths on the map and through the breezeway to our room. Maybe it took 2-3 minutes?

We always took the direct bridge to the common area, not the one that passes the pool. The walk would take about 5 minutes over to the food court? There are doors on the river side that go straight into the food court area. I will admit that psychologically, it seems far-ish away...but I think this is just because it's on the other side of the river, KWIM?

We never used the East Depot. But I could see it easily from where we parked the car. For our room location, the main depot in the common areas was about the same distance. Honestly, we never walked straight to and from the bus depot to the room...we hit the food court first or we browsed in the gift shop. It was an easy walk though, 5-10 minutes.

If you have never stayed over in the Mansions area, I would recommend it! I honestly didn't tour through the AB area, but I loved all the different garden features in the Mansions area. The buildings are so interesting to me as well. And the RR really is fun. Some ladies were talking about their love of the fireworks on the headboard and I have to admit...I did too! I would hit them first thing and last thing every day and night! ;)

How would we get one? would we have to call or just put it on our fax as a special request? Thanks
