Has he ever tried taking Melotonin? I took it at Disney to help me sleep. It worked wonders. I use a fan at night when I'm home, but can't take that on the plane with me. I did have a white noise app on my phone, but it's not the same.

We had to use Melotonin also in the past but not now. It does work wonders.

Where about is the template located? I sent my own last time I went but would just like to see what you have. Is it at the beginning of the thread or on the portorleans.org site?

It is in my signature below my posts. But if you cant see it you can click on my name and find other threads created by myself. It is titled Room Request in it.

That makes sense, however I do not see the signatures when using the app!! I did find it tho!!!

I have been back and forth on resorts for months now! We normally stay at CBR but have absolutely had it with those double beds so we needed somewhere new. I booked CSR but just couldn't get rid of this nagging feeling that we'd be happier at POR. So after spending waaayyy too much time on this thread and Andre's site (thank you for having such an informative site!)

...I changed our reservation and we're doing a week in a Royal Room in mid-November. :cool1: No regrets at all now and I can't wait to get there.

Well congrats on your move and welcome. Oh and I love your Tags!!!

Just got into our room at POR. It is a wheelchair access with a roll-in shower with a river view. The only way to see the river is to walk outside the room. The room is really nice and the resort is beautiful. One of the beds squeaks really bad and there are stains on the dust ruffle. We do have a corner room, which is nice.

So, not to sound "unappreciative" but what would make them upgrade people to a RR? I've seen a few people here now say they got that "pixie dust." But my issue is I specifically paid for preferred so I'm guaranteed AB. I don't like the mansions at all and would be utterly disappointed (which I would quickly get over) if I was "upgraded" to the mansions...

Don't worry, they would never bump anyone down.

This is the Disney model and something they teach CM's: Where possible, spread some pixie dust - that is - do nice things for people. Add something extra. If enough royal rooms are empty, pick someone you think could use it and upgrade them no cost!

It is actually brilliant business policy. For little cost, maybe no cost at all if the room was going to be vacant anyway, you have created a very happy customer. They like it and will come back. They tell others.

On these boards we discuss all the time the various ways Disney spreads the pixie dust. It is one of the reasons we love Disney and it is why we are loyal. I think it came from Walt's own original plan for his business. He did not want to just sell a product (rides for $X) he wanted to sell "happiness," so to speak. Disney has succeeded in spades for this very reason.

In fact, it might even allow more lower priced rooms to be sold! Say 98% of lower priced rooms are booked but only 75% of royal rooms. Give away a royal room and free up a lower priced room for an additional customer. Better two rooms at the lower rate than one room at the lower rate and one room empty!

One word: Exactly!

So going from preferred to RR would be considered a downgrade to Disney?

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great Disney does these random acts of kindness! I just wouldn't be as happy about that as someone else would be.

So I've booked a preferred room and to my understanding those are only in AB. I looked at some pics online of AB rooms and am a bit concerned with my choice. I see a very bare bones, no frills, no decor, rough and rugged looking room. This is not my idea of a Disney Resort room. Do all the rooms in AB look like this? I realize I'm in a moderate hotel but I've seen value rooms that look better than this. Yikes, I had my heart set on the amenities at POR....any thoughts?

The RRs are more $ then the preferred.

Well you can always go to www.portorleans.org, that is Andre's Site and he has the most up to date room pictures of all the rooms since the refurb.

We have booked a Garden View room at POR. Where can spect that area to be? Does each bldg. have a garden view portion? We stayed in AB a few years ago and loved it.:wizard:

The first page has the building maps with all the room categories.

I believe you are looking at photos before the refurb; I actually love AB decor as much as the mansions now.

Ok, so I called the Dis line and spoke to a cm. She said that the decor I was looking at was the old decor. I just couldn't get the royal rooms out of my head and I was able to change to one for about $12 more per night. Call me snob but I just really wanted that magical Disney look for our first trip and probably our only trip for the next 5 yrs....thinking it will take us that long before we can fathom spending this kind of money on a vaca again!

I booked a standard room as I'm not fussy about views or being anywhere in particular as I'm just happy to be going to Florida again!

When booking, I asked for any room in the highest floor possible (I think I went on for a while to the person I was booking with about my bad luck with ground floor rooms and she thought I was nuts!) and in the mansions as they would be close to POFQ (my friends are staying there).

If I don't get them, then I'm happy to be in Disney!

EDIT: and for anyone wondering none of my ground floor issues happened in Florida, but I got burgled, a fire started in room next to me and someone who was checking out the same day as me took my suitcase with them by accident as they thought it was their room in Europe so....odd times!

Well unfortunately if you want to be in the mansions and not be in a royal room you will be just as far away as the AB area.
