Only 29 days till we're at POR! We'll be there September 7-15 for what is essentially our honeymoon - we're signing our marriage contract (that's literally all we're doing since FL only requires a signature from a notary) on Friday, September 13 (we're obviously not the romantic or superstitious types). It's very special to us and we're super excited to be celebrating it at Disney, and POR in particular. My family always stayed at Dixie Landings so I have tons of very fond memories of it! It seems like the most perfect place to begin our own little family. :) I'm hoping we get an Alligator Bayou room - I called and had the request added to our reservation and I'm not too worried about it. Even without the request, we had at least a 50% chance it's where our pool view room would be anyway.

:dance3:
:cool1:CONGRATULATIONS!!!:cheer2:
:dogdance:

:earsboy:We are going to be there the 5th through 14th, too, celebrating our 30th! Have a wonderful time!
May you get a little extra pixie dust:tinker:and may you remain on :cloud9: and live a Disney happily ever after. God bless you both!

Aww, thanks! Same to you!:earsgirl:

What's good advice for getting to an 8:20 breakfast at chef Mickey from POR? I've read a few places its impossible to get to an early reservation using busses at a different resort from POR.

Bus to MK and walk over to the Contemporary, or take a taxi. :goodvibes

Bussing to MK was my original plan but I started getting nervous about potentially by getting there on time.

We've done it a few times with no problem. People are heading to the MK for 8:00 breakfast ADRs, so there's no reason you can't make it to the CR by then. However, you do need to allow plenty of time in case you just miss a bus. Plus, how long it will take to get from the MK bus stop to the CR will depend on how fast your party walks. It isn't very far, but we're more likely to walk it at the beginning of our vacation than we are at the end lol. After we pass the halfway point I always seem to start looking for ways to save steps lol.

The fastest and easiest way to get there is by taxi, if you don't mind spending the extra money.

We are super early people so we can be out there early for a bus!! Lol. It's the first morning of our vacation so walking over there should be no problem.

This probably doesn't belong here but I just went to sign into into my Disney account, and since I am Canadian I was very surprised to have My Disney Experience page appear. It states "The sign-in process for Disney accounts has been changed. In order to access your account, please provide the requested information." So I completed the form and I clicked the bottom 2 boxes about terms and conditons. No matter how many times I have checked them it says that there are errors on the page and highlights these boxes.

Any ideas how I can get these to be accepted? or do I need to talk to IT.

Late note. I guess I will have to call IT tomorrow--I can't get into my account until I complete this. UGH I wanted to check ADR's

I sent off our fax for room request last night. I can't believe that on Tuesday we'll finally be there!!!! I was only able to book standard view with the PIN code I had but really wanted preferred. We are linked with a party of 5 so I am assuming we will be in AB, right? DH has pretty severe back pain and mobility issues so I requested AB 16 or 17, first floor, and adjoining rooms with our family ( we don't need connecting). Keeping my fingers crossed that we are not in the back of beyond but will get over it quickly if we are. I watched a few you tube videos of the resort last night, OMG soooooo excited!!!! How are the crowds now? Getting ready to pack, I have one more night of on call and am on vacation at 8am tomorrow :cool1:

We are going to taxi there too for breakfast. We have Behind the Steam Train Tour and have to be at MK by 715 so I thought breakfast Buffett at Waves or the Contemporary counter service. Do you remember what your taxi cost?

We are a family of 4 and leave $10 a day. I've read that a benchmark is $2 a day pp

Hmmmmm....we don't leave anything generally. My understanding is that it is a well paid position with the understanding that it is not a tip reliant position (meaning that they don't rely on tips to support their pay - not that they are not allowed to accept). Am I wrong about this? We are pretty generous tippers so not trying to be cheap or anything. Anyone else not tip? Anyone see a difference between the cleanliness with and without tips? We don't care about towel animals enough to tip for just that.

We are checking in on Tuesday as well!! So excited!

Andre, have you noticed them testing the mug situation? Hope your enjoying your trip!

Still using standard mugs at the moment, they haven't even fitted the RFID sensor bases yet.

We tend to tip $1 per person/night. It is a 'tipping optional' position though.

Thanks Andre. We made it to NC and will arrive at POR first thing Monday morning! Can't wait.

We left $5 day 1 (myself & 3 kids), after that I left $4 a day, I totally forgot on One day (ds13 said something on the bus, arghh) that was the only day we did not get a towel animal, I'm sure it was a coincidence & FOR THE RECORD my boys could care less about the animals (I thought it was cute) but I didn't notice any difference in room cleanliness.

My daughter and I are booked for Sept. 11-16. Received our paperwork and tags yesterday! We've never been to POR before and are excited to try it out.

I saw on one of the Disney fan facebook pages (can't remember which one now) that all of the refrigerators were fully replaced at POR. Has any one been able to confirm?
Thanks!
