We stayed in Feb. 2013. Family of 5, 3 boys ages at the time 7, 9 and 11. We needed to set a schedule and have them take turns sleeping on the Murphy bed, while the other 2 shared the queen bed while my wife and I shared the other queen. Going back in October 2014 staying on same room since it worked out so well!!!!

That's great to know it worked out well. Did you rotate on the murphy bed because kids liked it or didn't like it?

My biggest concern is our kids need to have dark rooms for sleeping and DH and I don't go to be when they do. Last time we went to Disney, the kids still went to bed around 8:00/8:30 and then DH and I had our connecting room to watch TV in or whatever without keeping the kids up. But I'm thinking at 5/5/4 the kids will all be able to stay up longer, etc and maybe we'll all just crash at the same time.

Sorry about that... They needed to took turns because they thought it was great!!! Our boys are always wiped out and they sleep whenever they hit the bed....this will be our 5th trip staying at POR in the AB....

Hey All,
We are getting ready to book our vacation August 13 to 21 at POR. Woo hoo.:thumbsup2

So my question is if we just book the room only and put the deposit down and then later in the Spring Disney comes out with a room only discount can we apply it ( of course if Disney has rooms available ) without a penalty? Also Looking at past history we may be in the middle of two different discounts. I guess we would be able to use both where applicable, I think.:scratchin

Thanks,

Dan

I was able to get us a pool view room in AB. We were booked for the garden view, but I was able to get pool view cheaper. Anyone stay in a pool view room? I requested a corner room, upper floor. Don't know if I will get that or not. :)

You can apply a discount to an existing reservation if there's availability for your resort and dates; there's no penalty. You can't stack discounts though; you'd have to do the math to decide which would be better.

Who has actually had a child sleep in the pull-down bunk? We are looking at booking a trip for this December. There will be five of us, including three kids ages: 5,5,4. Has anyone else put five in POR room with 2 queens and the pull-down bunk? Did you regret it? Last time we went, kids were 4,4,2 (nearly 3yrs) and we just got connecting rooms at POP. Looking to save a little bit of money this time and not get two rooms, but wondering if we will regret having all of us in one room.
My 6 year old slept on the Murphy each night and loved it!

Thank you.

Thank you both for answering. Glad the kids loved it. I think we might consider this.
There was 6 of us all together. My DS slept in a pack and play and didn't actually count at the time. My nieces and my DD all took turns sleeping on the Murphy bed. Two of them are 10yrs old and the other 20 yrs old, lol. If the pack and play wasn't there the space would have been a lot better but it worked for us.

Sent my fax today. We arrive in just a few short days. I haven't done online check in yet so do you think I should do that before we go or just wait at this point since I faxed a request in today. :-). Can't wait. Kids don't know we are coming. We are surprising them Saturday morning before we leave. My son turns 8 on Sunday so I'm sure he is going to be super excited to spend his bday at Disney.

When I booked originally I got the garden view room for $183 a night. I checked yesterday and they had the pool view room for $179 a night, with the Florida resident and passholder discount. I switched to the pool view because I thought the kids would like it better. Our garden view room last year wasn't that great. :)

I love the Florida Resident Discount and Annual Pass Holder Discount. My Grand parents got that for us before I moved down every time we went.

It is awesome and makes it much more affordable for me to stay at my favorite resort. Sadly, we do have to spend a few nights in the cabins for my dh. ;)

How high off the ground is the murphy bed? It looks sort of precarious in pictures. My kids roll out of bed sometimes.
