Port Orleans Riverside Q&A Thread 2013, Part Three (NOW CLOSED, see 2014 thread)

Could someone give me some tips on the best non-preferred room location in Riverside? We would like to be close to the main pool area as I have teens who will be heading off by themselves.

The closest for the main pool would be 38, and that's not too far along the pathway to get to the main building either. The next closest for general access for main building/buses/etc would be 16 or 17. See the map in the first post.

Another choice would be any rooms in Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace that are near to the footbridge leading to Ol' Man Island (but just asking for those buildings alone would not help much, as they are both pretty big and some of the furthest rooms would be a bit of a trek).

But generally, just ask for WHAT you want (i.e. close to main feature pool) rather than a building number.

Andre

There are some access paths with steps, but there are also ramped paths for wheelchairs/ECVs. Buildings in the 14 /15 area have very good disability access. Andre

Do all the buildings in the AB section have ramps or just some? Was going to request ground floor for ease with a stroller, but if many buildings have steps from the "porches" to the paths, it probably doesn't matter then.

So glad to be back on The Dis! :) We're in the early stages of planning a return to WDW in April 2015. We stayed at an Art of Animation (Nemo suite) in April 2013.

We're planning on a moderate this time, and I'm eyeing Riverside because of the Murphy bed in the Alligator Bayou rooms. (DH is extremely tall, and it would be good if he didn't have to share a non-king bed. Younger DS would get a kick out of the Murphy.)

However, I'm concerned that -- especially after their only Disney experience so far being AoA -- the theming and atmosphere at Riverside won't really do it for two energetic small boys. It looks like a beautiful resort, I just don't know if it's the best one for them.

Thoughts? Any advice appreciated!

Nope, sorry, no iPod docks (nor Samsung, LG, Nokia, Sony, etc ones either). I think there is an aux port with will allow you to connect any device with a standard 3.5mm headphone socket though.

Andre

I knew I had my phone hooked up somehow. Ok so that answers their question about charger station.

Hey someone on the Mug Sticky has reported new mugs at POR, but they didn't get a picture, just a vague description.

Is anyone there now who knows how to post a picture? Or can tell us lid colors? Or can just end the agony of the wait....:rotfl:

I don't have a picture, but lids are red, yellow, blue, and purple.

What do they look like? No more beach scene?

I'm not sure what the exact art work is, but it's definitely not the beach scene. I haven't had a chance to see the mugs in person yet, just a tiny picture of them.

My son was 10 when we first went to POR and he loved it. Especially the waterslide at the pool. They also have fishing and smores by the camp fire at night (not sure if they have that at the values) Its definitely not as big and vibrant as the Value resorts, but we all thought it was a nice change from being in the parks all day.

There is a thread called "The one and only refillable Mug FAQ and Questions Thread (no debate)". They have pictures of the new mug designs!! They look nice! Really looking forward to a different mug when we are there in May.
