I've decided on POR for our trip :thumbsup2 . I just decided that we'll go with the flow with the bussing and if it becomes an issue then we'll drive to the parks (since we'll have our own car). The photos of Riverside look AMAZING! Can anyone give me some info on the carriage ride? Does it begin in French Quarter and circle around Riverside or vice versa? Anyone know how much it cost?

We took the horse and carriage ride and it was so much fun.

We were staying at POR and the carriage driver gave us the choice of going around the POR resort or going to French Quarter. We chose to go to French Quarter. It was fun riding around the cobblestone streets of POFQ. The ride started at POR.

Make reservations ahead of time. When we were there the first week of December, the rides were completely booked so I'm glad we had reservations. The ride is $45 and it lasts about 25 minutes or so.

We're staying in POR in October and super excited. My in-laws live in Fl and we're going to meet up with them. We were thinking of having them meet us at the resort for dinner, and enjoying a stroll afterwards. There are so many evening activities, it would be nice to share the experience with them. Do you have to be staying at the resort, or can we invite them as our guest?

Thank you! I searched and couldn't find that:rolleyes2

Googling "Port Orleans Riverside carriage ride" gives my site and recreation page as the second and third results, and Disney's page as number one, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. :)

The only rooms still available with this pin were the new Royal Guestrooms. We have one facing a pool. Anyone have any good suggestions for rooms to ask for (if I call and request)?

The last time we stayed at POR is 2004, so is there anything really different that we should know about?

The Royal Pool View rooms are almost all in Oak Manor, with a couple in Parterre Place. They are all very conveniently located for getting over to the main buildings, so really no need to request anything other than a particular floor if you have a preference (ground for ease of access, top for quieter).

All of the guest rooms and the lobby have been refurbished since your last visit, plus night time movies and activities at the pool and other stuff. Lots to do! Not to mention Magic Bands and FastPass+ now of course.

No problem at all, they can join you for meals and any activities that you want (either paid or free). The only thing they officially should not do is to use the swimming pools as they are for hotel guests only.

The security gatehouse will ask them for ID, and may ask if they are meeting someone or eating at the restaurant, but that's just a formality.

So excited!!! We arrive on Monday night for our 2nd ever Disney trip and our 2nd stay at Port Orleans Riverside! We chose to not stay in the Royal Rooms this time and are hoping to get a room in the AB with the Murphy bed. Just sent in my fax to the resort! Thanks Andre for the free fax sending website! That was very helpful since my new job doesn't have a fax machine!

It's been -40C [same as -40f if you didn't know] (went down to -50c the other night!) so I can't WAIT to get there on Monday. Says it should feel like +26C. Gonna be GREAT!

Good grief. Where are you? Winnipeg?

We just packed up our room and I'm so sad to be leaving POR tomorrow. We've had the most wonderful time and went swimming almost every day. I don't feel like facing the cold and snow and going back to work. :-(

We're officially booked! POR preferred room. Only 294 days! I hope we get building 18 again-- it was perfect!

So we are adding a day to our trip so we can take our dd to Universal for the day. It says that transportation (for a fee) can be offered from a Disney resort. Does anyone...hint hint...know if it's available from POR? Also, can Universal and Islands of adventure both be done in the same day?

That sounds great.... based on this, I probably won't worry about which room. I don't always request anything in particular, but I was unsure about this type of room. I've looked at the maps and info about POR a little more and I feel more comfortable about the location.

Another question.... from either of those buildings, is it convenient to get to the East Depot or is the South Depot the best way to get on the bus? Also, which depot picks up first?

Thanks!!

CLOSE! I'm in Portage. About 45 minutes from Winnipeg!

I know I will feel the same way at the end of our trip but right now Monday can't come soon enough!!

I am so excited...I just changed our reservation from POP to POR from Sept 23-Oct 7!! Yahoo! So excited! Preferred room for 14 nights, now hopefully FD comes out or we will have to shrink the nights there. Fingers crossed!

Don't know about the transportation thing sorry. We haven't been to universal in a few years. You won't be able to do everything in one day, no. But you can go and do your "must dos". So take a look at the attractions on the web site, and list your musts for each park. It may be advantageous to purchase their version of fast pass, so waiting in line will be less, since your time will be precious.
