:wave2: hi everyone! After 3 great stays at POR, we booked last Jan. And this coming January at POFQ! But just heard via POFQ thread that the pool will be closed!
So, thinking about switching to POR. Love the mansions. Especially Acadian & Magnolia buildings. Not too happy about the sheets though :(. It really does take away from the theming. I hope they find something better. Our last stay was just as they finished Acadian House and were working on Magnolia. Love the new rooms at both resorts. Great job!

Andre, do you know if POR will have fridges by late January? With a 10 day stay it's important to us for breakfast things. Thanks!

All rooms are assigned 2-3 days before your arrival. So when you actually arrive has very little to do with whether you get your requests met.

Most rooms (apart from special requests and multi-room bookings which need to be near to each other) are allocated on the actual day you arrive. This is to ensure that as many people as possible can be sent directly to a currently vacant room when they arrive (even at 9am) rather than having to wait for a pre-allocated room number to be vacated and cleaned.

Guests who have done Online Checkin get allocated from the currently available pool of rooms a few hours before they are due to arrive (and a welcome pack is prepared for them). Walk-ups get allocated from the pool of 'Ready Rooms' at the time you get to the front desk. That's one reason I recommend online checkin by the way; if you don't like the room that was assigned a few hours ago you can ask them to check again from the current pool, effectively giving you a 'double dip' advantage if you need it.

There is an option in the Online Checkin form to prioritise Requests over getting a room immediately, which means they can look for other rooms that might be due to become available later in the day, but at the expense of you having to wait a while for your room before you can get in.

If you are especially worried, faxing 3-5 days out is a good idea, explaining that you are going to be checking in very late and would really like building 16 if possible, and saying that you are worried there might be no ideal rooms left there when you arrive.

There's nothing certain yet, but that is most definitely the aim. I'm not sure what the extra delay is, but it does seem that POR will be among the last of the resorts to be completed (possibly due to the early batches all going to POFQ due to the size of the fridges they had been able to procure).

Thank you! I will send a fax and cross my fingers!!

I looked for it when I did online checkin, and there was no option about prioritizing requests over getting a room immediately. Don't know if something has changed recently or one of MDE's many glitches. I will be relying on the fax for requests.

Does anyone have any advice for successfully completing their online check-in? I have tried several times over the past month, and when I get to the final screen and hit "done" I get a Goofy screen telling me "sorry -please try again". Any tricks?

Thanks :) Getting excited :) 11 more days until we see Riverside for the FIRST time!!

I got that error this morning as well, but I actually did complete the checkin. When I go in now it says modify check-in. I also received a text from Disney since I requested to get room ready notifications.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago (and it was like that every day).

I got that error this morning as well, but I actually did complete the checkin. When I go in now it says modify check-in. I also received a text from Disney since I requested to get room ready notifications.

I never received a confirmation page, but every time I've logged in since, I see that it says "modify check-in" (instead of "begin check-in" or whatever it was) and when I try going through the steps again, it shows my credit card info, arrival time, etc., so it must have worked even though it seemed like it didn't.

I logged onto this, as well, and my info appears to be in there like I already checked in, but it doesn't let me complete the room request info like it did in MDE, so I just cancelled out of there since I don't want to mess up my room requests.

That's what I've got against it to be honest. If I wanted to stay at the Marriot or some other bland soulless corporate hotel, I would have booked there (probably for a lot less money).

I'm not saying that moving away from the heavy, difficult to wash, bedspreads is wholly a bad idea - but why oh why couldn't they have at least created something similarly themed to replace them, instead of going for boring clinical hospital white?

Andre

I have to wonder if we would have booked at POR if this had been the look of things when we booked last year. It really doesn't seem very appealing. Now that we know about the grounds of POR and how beautiful the resort is and how great the food court is I am sure we will be back, but this might have changed our original plans ... Also if the rumours and posted pictures of CBR renos are true, those rooms are going to look a lot more appealing (IMO) than POR :(

Maybe use a different web browser . My iPad hasn't accessed the ire n a week yet my phone allows me to. Just a suggestion

As from this month, the POR and POFQ feature pools (i.e. Ol' Man Island and Doubloon Lagoon) will have extended lifeguard operating hours of 9am-11pm. However, outside of those times both pools (including the hot tubs) will be CLOSED and guests will not be allowed to use them.

Off-season (e.g. 5 January - 15 February 2014, but those dates are subject to change) the feature pool and hot tub hours will be reduced to 9am-9pm.

The five POR quiet pools will remain available for swimming at any time outside of these hours, at your own risk of course, it's only the feature pools that will have restricted access.

Andre

Thank you for posting this! The kids had planned an 8am swim one morning at Ol' Man Island. This means dh and I get to sleep in a bit!

I have 2 questions, sorry if they have been answered already, I'm on information overload!
1) do the buildings in Alligator Bayou have elevators?
2) can you all recommend some non-preferred buildings that are relatively close to the main building and food court please? What did you like about a particular building?
We stayed at POR in 2010, in Oak Manor. This was a good location, but we are not paying for a RGR so Oak Manor is out. I am open to suggestions for buildings in AB and MB. Thanks so much!!!

1) No
2) In AB area I recommend buildings 16 or 17. They are in a nice quiet area along with a beautiful quiet pool and laundry facilities right there. Second its not but a 2 minute maybe 1 minute walk to the main building/food court and South Depot Bus Station.

Thank you for such a cheerful greeting! I completely agree with you on this one, and although I am not lucky enough to get to work at the happiest place on earth, I am lucky to be visiting it in 10 days! Woo Hoo!!

Hi!
Wanted to hear experiences of anyone familiar with POR on a school vacation week and the buses at POR. If staying in the mansions near East stop, are the buses full by the time they get to you? What order do they pick up in? How far is the walk to main bus stop from Oak Manor or Partierre place? Is it tough to get a bus for rope drop?

Thanks for your help!
