Yes! Can't wait to get there....16 years ago we were at Dixie Landings celebrating our Honeymoon;) finally time to head back to that resort! We done trips every year since but stayed all over property...my boys are pretty excited to check out the place.

Hi! This is not my first POR visit but we are bringing friends who are first timers and I want everything to be PERFECT for them! :) Plus we're celebrating a couple of big birthdays (that are a little painful! haha)

1. If we booked Standard Rooms, can we request things like River View if we fax in requests? I've never faxed in requests before :)

2. I booked the 2 rooms (1 for mom & i and the other for friend and her son) but the reservations are in my name and my friends name. I linked the reservations together and I was the one who paid the deposit to hold both rooms. If I fax in requests, should I just note both reservations in the one fax and not the confirmation#'s on the form??

THANKS!!!

Well welcome back...

Typically you can request it but that you most likely will not get unless they decide to give you a little pixie dust. The reason is they are two way different price brackets river view is the most expensive where standard is the least. You can fax in your requests and see if any magic shows up. But I would not hope too much on that far of an upgrade.

Well I would put all the names in on the request so they know all parties names involved. Make sure at the top of the request fax you state your name is: "?" and you are one of the occupants in the rooms and are making the requests on the behalf of all parties.

THANKS!!! :goodvibes

Ok originally I was thinking of just requesting a "non parking lot view" on my fax form. I think I'll just stick with that.

And I'll definitely list us all on the request also.

Thanks for your help!! :woohoo: 60 days!!

I can see them sprinkling a little dust on requesting a non-parking lot view. Not sure what you will see, but hey your at Disney World!

Hope you enjoy your upcoming visit!

Here is a pic I took of one this month, just because I figured someone would want to see one. Black bars block out their personal info but here it is.

Yeah those are my keys. I have to go once a month to get a new one because the paint wears off of him. My fiance has Wonder Woman and lil one got R2D2.

Anyhow that in the pic is someones luggage tag that was sitting next to us in the main hall area next to check in and gift shop. I asked if I could snap a pic and promised I would wipe the info off of theirs.

That would actually bring us to CBR ... wife thinks they look too Hokey / dated at the moment.

But I think talking about CBR is a little off topic from the POR thread ... still interesting stuff.

46 more days til POR !!!!!

Off Topic? It relates because those rooms are adopting the fold out bed used at POR.

With all the posts on this thread that are WAY off topic why did you decide to single mine out? I'm sure you can find other posts that aren't nearly as on topic as another Disney resort using the same room design as POR.

Ohh you most likely came across my posts. Well I have heard the situation has been remedied. But I am confident you have chosen an exceptional resort to stay at for your first mod stay. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

My husband and I so excited that we are going to stay at a Disney Resort for the first time. I want to have his birthday acknowledged with a little pixie dust when we check is, as a surprise of course.
Would I fax that in? Or just call WDW and tell reservations?

Also, if we are booked with a garden view room in Riverside, do you have a suggestion for a great building or place of room? We plan on using the boat to go to Downtown Disney the first night we get there..but after that we are using our rental car to go to all of the parks and other resorts.

Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

We pick this resort, due to having 4 bus stops.. This way, I'm close to a bus stop no matter where are room is..

1. I'm really worried about the buses.. How bad are they really? Is it worth walking to the stop in front of the main lobby?
Trying to make a MK ADR at 8:05am.. How early should we be at the bus stop?

2. needing a room on the ground floor request.. (I'm unable to do stairs)

I don't want to have any problems at check in..
However if we are given a room that is on the 2nd floor with no elevator, i will psychically be unable to get to the room..... What do I do?

Thank you for any help

Call WDW... I told them DD was celebrating her bday.. They were able to make a note to the ressie..
Nice simple and easy! The CM said she would mostly likely get a bday button on check in!!

This time tomorrow I will be at POR!!

And it looks like I might have gotten some pixie dust......I booked a standard view room and my room reservation now says "Pool View" on the Disney Website! Hopefully we will get Building 25, that was my request!

We had no trouble with the buses in November when we were there. With 2 exceptions, the waits were very short (and we went back and forth quite a bit, probably more than 20 rides in 7 days). We easily made an 8:05 ADR at MK (well, it was an 8:25 ADR but were seated with the 8:05 group). I think we got to the bus stop around 7:10, and on a bus at 7:15. We could have waited if we knew there were more buses, but I always allow a good cushion with Disney transportation. We always got on at the main bus stop because our room was right over the bridge in Oak Manor so it was easiest/quickest.

You can request anything at all of course, but you need to be aware that Standard View rooms almost all face towards parking lots, or have otherwise somewhat poorer views. To get a river view, the general idea is that you should pay to book a River View category room.

However, that said, upgrades are not uncommon, and if they happen to have spare rooms in another category then you may well get a "pixie dust" upgrade - just don't count on it. If you want to really ensure that this vacation is "extra perfect" for your friends, the only way to guarantee a room category is to book and pay for it.

If you do send a fax, just include both of the reservation numbers in the one fax. If they are already linked in the system then they should be processing them together anyway. See the info in the first couple of posts for general advice. If you want connecting rooms (i.e. with an internal door) ask for that, but if you're not worried about that feature and just want nearby rooms then it's worth saying that you'd prefer a nicer location over a connecting doorway. And mentioning any special birthdays, etc is always a good idea. :thumbsup2

Good luck with your requests anyway, hope you get what you want.

Andre

I went back and reread my post and I think I managed to put every small irritation in that one post. It doesn't sound nearly as magical reading what I wrote as we felt.

The problem with check in wasn't a big deal. 1/2 hour, maybe 45 minutes to wait. We looked at is as we could be sitting in our house, cold with now outside or perhaps stuck in traffic. Or we could be comfortable watching the kids explore POR while waiting on our room. Computer problems happen everywhere. But, at least these happened at WDW and not in line at WallyWorld. :)

I was really impressed with the buses. Sure, at peak times they were crowded and sometimes we stood all the way from MK to the South depot. But, for the kids it was an adventure and DH and I didn't mind standing. I don't think we ever waited more than 10ish minutes for a bus the whole time we were there.

As it was, we were at a beautiful resort having an amazing vacation. Our breakfast at CRT put us in a window table looking directly across to the beast's castle. Our O'hana dinner had a window table looking over MK. That couldn't have been more perfect if I had planned it. My parents joined us at POR for a couple of days and at O'hana we watched the fireworks. My parents have been to WDW a few times, but mom is not a nightowl so dad has never seen the fireworks. And, they were so thrilled with their on property stay that they also booked a bounceback.

I was really impressed with how quiet POR was considering the number of rooms. Granted we were not there during high season, but I always found a place to relax at the pool while the kids played. The pool was busy, but not crowded. I cannot wait to go back and try out all of the resort activities that we missed this trip - campfire, Bob, fishing and maybe some of the quiet pools.
