You can get Connecting rooms (which is what you need to request if you want an internal doorway between the two rooms) in all categories except King Bed (which you wouldn't be booking anyway).#

If you want to be close to everything, including easy access for the main South Depot bus stop, you would be best to book Preferred Location rooms.

Andre

Thanks for the webcam Andre, it was a nice break to see POR while in my office. Safe travels.

Can I send my room request fax now or is it better to send it in the morning? TIA!!

Venomhatch has said to send it in the morning so that the room assignment people will be at work.

This is DH and i first stay at riverside and I don't know much about it. We won't have. Car so we will be taking Disney transportation everywhere (which is normal for us). I am looking for building suggestions to request. We have reserved a king size room also. We would like to be near the lounge also, if possible, since we are leaving DS at home :rolleyes1 any suggestions are welcome!

Want to Thank everyone especially Venomhatch for your help. This was our first stay at POR in the RR and we loved it. We faxed our room request just asking to be on 3rd floor and the reason and they were able to do it and even gave us extra pixie dust by putting us in a corner room which was an extra surprise. Mousekeeping was great and we loved taking the boat to downtown it is really a plus for the resort. I know we will be staying there again hopefully next Feb. The grounds are very pretty. Thanks again!!!

Any morning runners here? I found a map of where to go for a run at POR, and was wondering if anyone has run at POR before. My mom wants to run every other morning and wants to know how long the route is and how early she should go to avoid people on the walkways.

I will be running it up in May. I am a little worried about the running routes being busy with people. I run pretty fast, about 7.5 Miles/hour, I am worried I am going to be having to dodge through people etc.

Anyone ever run around the road around the outside of the resort ?

I need to be able to work out while there or else all the disney food, and yuengling beer (we discovered it last time we were at disney) will catch up on me .... litterally have to out-run it ! :)

PS: If anyone is up for a run May 5 - 17th. Feel free to PM !

So sad that tonight is my last night here :( We are under tornado warnings until 3pm today. Should make for an interesting day. Maybe MK will be less crowded.

Wow! That's crazy! What's the weather like when there is a tornado warning? I'm from NJ so have no idea :)

For anyone who is there now or just returned, does the refillable mug still have the Mickey & friends in the pool scene? If so, any word on when new mugs might be coming out? :drinking1

Thanks for all the nice comments about the webcam everyone, I'm glad you all enjoyed it. I'll upload a 20-minute video I shot from there at some point, so you can play it to your hearts' content. :)

What are people requesting? We are going for the 1st time in april with our 2 boys (both who have bdays the week we will be there)..... I did the online checkin but is there something else I should be doing?

That's up to you, do you have any particular location or facilities in mind? See the FAQ in the first post, or visit www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php for more info if you've never visited POR before.

How far in advance should you send in the fax? I've paid for preferred room in AB, I'd like ground level in building 14, would that be worth requesting?

Yes, definitely worth requesting that. Make sure your requests are listed in your original booking first (call the reservations center to do that) and then send a fax about 3-5 days out if you wish.

Does the slide at Riverside spit or dump water from above as you are going down it??

Is there a red light/green light at the top of the slide to tell you when to go down?

No extra water is poured down on you, just the main flow of water from the point where you sit down ready to slide. And yes, there is a green 'go' light I seem to recall.

The walkways never get really busy other than near the food court, but running just after dawn (any time around 6.00am-7.30am) would be perfect. You'll have the pathways almost to yourself. It really is an idyllic place to run (almost makes me want to take up running - almost...)

Just ask for a room near to the main building, rather than trying to second-guess what might be available, as that gives them the best chance to find you something suitable. The floorplan layouts on my site might help too, as they tell you where every King Bed room is located.

Thanks for the webcam Andre! I am having serious webcam withdrawl however! It really helped us to get even more excited for our first trip to Port Orleans this spring!!!

I second this. Our weather is snowy and cold and it has been great to see POR from the webcam. I am going to miss it. We arrive October 25th for our first stay at POR so I have a long way to go but Andre's glimpse was heavenly. Thank you so much for that and I cannot wait for pictures. Hope you had a nice flight home.

Would love to know the answer to this myself. We already have 6 with that pool scene, and would hope we don't get 3 more of the same thing on our next trip. Wish they still had the old mugs that were resort specific.

It's still the pool scene.

It's still the pool scene.

I sure hope there will be new ones before our Nov. trip. I like to have different designs, although I guess we could just get different colored handles.

It's fax day for us! Getting very pumped.

Andre, as you are the insider, any suggestions on a king bed request for the most romantic view? We are celebrating our engagement and don't mind walking, just want the best possible romantic location. Any thoughts on where you would request this? Should I simply put that in the fax?

Hmm, romantic King Bed room... if you want the mansions, then a river view such as 8774 in Magnolia Terrace would be very nice; that's a corner room and it overlooks the marina too, plus you might get to see some carriage rides going past in the evening. There are quite a few King Bed rooms around there that would be lovely too, see the floorplan maps I created.

I was all set to request Top Floor in AB but now I am second guessing myself. MY reasoning for top floor is that we are light sleepers and I thought it might be quieter on the top floor with no one above us and not as many walking around right outside our door talking etc. How is the soundproofing in the AB rooms? Can you hear people running around upstairs if you are on the bottom floor? Do the top floors tend to be quieter or is this just an idea I have in my head?

Getting ready to call and add my requests to my reservation since I forgot to when I booked:confused3
