Port Orleans Riverside or Caribbean Beach?

Beginning to plan for a trip in 2018 and have been eyeing either POR or CBR? They both seem to be pretty similar in terms of price (CBR a bit more), both are bus transportation to the parks.

I haven't been to WDW since I was a kid and only then stayed on property at the campgrounds and once at the Grand Floridian when Disney screwed up our reservations which was awesome by the way.

Our trip will be me, DW, DS (10) and DD (6). Are there other resorts we should be looking at? I'm really not keen on any of the Values (theming overload ). Magic Kingdom and EPCOT will be the main parks we want to visit.

You have picked two that have passionate fans, and are not fans of the other.

Look at the themes and see which has appeal to you.
Look at the transportation differences.
Look at the dining options.
Look at the themed pools if you plan to use.

I like 'em both..
6 in one hand
1/2 dozen in the other..
rooms are almost identical.
pools at CBR seem nicer but not by a LONG SHOT. I also like the main dining area at CBR better, but again.. not by a long shot.. its really a push and being a penny pincher (sometimes) i would always opt for the cheaper of the 2..

CBR seems a tad closer to HS and Epcot.. POR to MK and Ak.. i think. but thats just splitting hairs if you ask me.

I'll take cbr pool and POR food court.

I like the theme of cbr better but that doesn't mean POR isnt good.
Cbr is larger so if you are in a room in the "back" it's a longer walk to the main building.
POR is easier for leaving the resort as the check in/out is in the main building, cbr is separate and the biggest downfall imo.
POR has a boat to Disney springs which is a nice alternative to the bus.
POR will have better discounts at times, that's why we are booked there currently - $30 a night difference adds up to food money
