Does anyone know if Port Orleans Riverside has been remodeled within the last couple of years? Could anyone make a suggestion for a nice room? Good view, close proximity? We do have a family of five - not sure what buildings we will be in. thank you. Would love to hear your comments.

Yes POR has/is going through a remodeling - I am not sure if they are completely finished with it but I do know that they had a portion of it completed when I was there in Oct. I would suggest requesting bldg 14 in Alligator Bayou due to proximity to main bldg (food court) and main bus stop. Also the Mansions look nice and I do know that is where they started the remodeling but this may be hike to the main bldg but there are 3 other bus stops besides the main one so there is a bus stop close to the Mansions. As far as the family of 5 I can't help you there I normally go with my sister and my niece so I do not know the space limitations.

My FAVOURITE resort.

Was there 10 days in Sep '04 and 14 days in Dec '04.

Sep: stayed in building 15, Alligator Bayou which is where you will be with 5, since those rooms have trundle beds (unless they now have them in the Magnolia Bend area). Rooms were not renovated then, but I understand that they will be done by spring. Building 14 is closest to main building, then 15. But it's a nice walk from whatever area.

Dec: asked for same room area as in Sep, got the room immediately above my last room, and this one was in horrible shape - long overdue for a renovation. They cheerfully moved me to a new room in Magnolia Bend, and I kept extending my stay since it was so great! Beautiful room, and these new rooms have a fridge.

The theming is so beautiful here that you do feel like you're in a deluxe resort, especially with the new rooms. I always take a boat ride to Downtown Disney at least once during my stay (and love it when it's cold out and I am pretty much the only guest!)

Fishing, boating, cycling, carriage rides, what more could one want!

Make sure to step out early morning and watch the sunrise and the mist on the water....

we will be there in just a few weeks..cant wait cant wait... :Pinkbounc

DH and I stayed there in July 2004. We had a room in one of the mansions! It was Magnolia Terrace. We had a great view of the Sassagoula River. It is a great resort. I was told then that they were doing some remodel work or that they had.

We were there in 03 and the rooms were nice, I think they have remodeled since then but they were not in need of it when I was there- at least I thought.

We stayed in the AB section in bldg 15 and it was very close to the main bldg, food court and south depot bus stop. We also had a trundle bed even though we are not a family of 5 or requested it.

Nice resort.

None of the previous responders addressed the issue of a family of 5 at POR, so here's what I know. Rooms sleep a maximum of 4 on 2 double beds. There are some rooms in the AB section that have a trundle bed . They can accomodate a 5th person as long as that person is a small child that can fit in the trundle. Hope this helps.
