Port Orleans Riverside FAQ thread - Royally Refurbished for 2011

My Bad - I just assumed this where my Ressie for a Preferred room in March said I had 2 Queen & a trundle bed ...

Not your bad at all, as this is what the Disney booking site says. It's their bad! However, I can assure you that in March 2012, none of the Preferred Locations at POR will have been refurbished as yet. Sorry.

It will all be fine come August, once the refurbs are all done, but in the meantime some of the new room descriptions are a bit ahead of themselves. Possibly proof-read by the same person who didn't spot "The Colonel's Cotton Mill building houses the Resort's Main Lobby" in the main online resort description (and that name has not been used for ten years).

I'm not sure it was an accessible room because you had to step up into the bathtub for the shower. Wouldn't an accessible room have a flat wheel in shower?

It seemed just like a regular room except the door/curtain difference. I definitely liked having the door!

It sounds like it was just a partially accessible room, there are levels. A fully accessible room would have the roll in shower, but a partial may just have handrails or a raised toilet.... it would look normal. (one of the most noticable traits of an accessible room would be dual peepholes... one regular height, one wheelchair height... then again this may only pertain to fully accessibles, but I think it goes for all)

Ummm...I requested (and paid for) a king bed and requested Mansion area, hopefully Magnolia....so any thoughts about this from the experts? A queen would work as there are only 2 of us but thought we would have more "space" and possibly a corner room with a king. My first two wishes are a corner room and Mansion area.

We will at POR in 67 days! I have never been so excited! All the wonderful pictures have made counting the days much easier. I booked a pirate cruise for my son's birthday. I should book a carriage ride for our anniversary. I am so looking forward to this vacation!:cheer2:

This may have been answered....but ALL the refurb should be done by???? We are going late August? Anything besides the rooms being done??? I would hate for the main pool to be down for refurb? If that was the case I would choose another resort.

If you've paid for a King Bed room, that's what you should get. Some of the King Rooms are on corners (as are some Queen rooms) but not all of them. Make sure your requests are listed on your original booking, and possibly fax or phone a few days before you arrive, and I hope it works out for you.

The whole resort will be done by the start of August, yes.

Ongoing maintenance happens all year round though (for example the quiet pool by Magnolia Terrace was just down for a month for maintenance). It's unlikely they would take the main pool down during August though, but not impossible of course.

In the two royal themed buildings both of those will have dual queen beds in corner riverview rooms right?

So we changed over to POR from CSR for our upcoming trip. My kids talked me into going where we stayed before. Anyway I noticed on the reservation that it says queen beds and garden view does that mean we will be in one of the refurbed rooms?:confused3 I sure hope so!

We arrive in 15 days. I cannot wait. We love POFQ but have never stayed here so I am excited to try a new resort.

We're right behind you, we arrive in 17 days. Like you, we have stayed at POFQ and enjoyed in but wanted to try something different. We are in the preferred rooms, they are not refurbished, but they are convenient to the front and the main bus stop.

If you have queen beds then you will have a refurbished room.

I requested Magnolia Bend. Not sure if we will get it but I do not care at this point I am just ready to get away & enjoy!!

I hope you have a great trip & stay there. Maybe we will run into each other. My DH wears grumpy hats & shirts. I have a TR going (link in my sig) if you want to check it out.

That is soo funy, lol. I like that post. Yeah we are going to DTD our first day there. Got RES at T-Rex.

Nice pic! Never did the Horse & Carriage ride, thinking about it for next trip!
We did the horse and buggy in 2009 and we loved it! We're leaving on Sunday for POR; they only thing our TA specified is a ground floor room. We're not fussy, doesn't matter where our room is, the main thing is we're on VACATION!!!

You are funny! You must be slap happy. :rotfl:

I wish I was at the ten day mark!

But I'm happy because we're at the 49 day mark! Since we had well over 100 days when the countdown started, my husband told me, "Don't say anything or get excited until we're seven days out." That's like telling me not to breathe. Silly man. :lmao: So every time we get down to a new increment of 10, I get excited. I told him today, "49 days until we're at POR!" He looked at me shocked, and couldn't believe it's almost time for us to go!!! He thought we were still in the 80's or so....but we're not! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!
