Yes, yes, thank you!

Thanks for your kind words.... DMs health hasn't been good for sometime, but she had some rather bad spells on our trip.... she has moments of confusion which is what happened when she got lost. She also has extreme restless legs, neuropathy, and fibromyalgia.... which when they all act up together, make her thrash around in pain. This happened on thursday night of our trip, she thrashed around all night and even kicked me out of bed... literally! When morning came and she was still in pain, we called 911. This is why we contacted, but why she ended up in the hospital, is that they found her heart to be beating irregullarly.. her heart is in A-Fib and has to take blood thinners to keep from clotting and possibly stroking.

I am sooo sorry to hear this. I was on blood thinners for 18 years, had two open heart surgeries, replaced a heart valve, and some stuff. So I know what it is like to have some serious health problems. I don't know the particular health issues your DM has. But I am really sorry to hear that. My sympathies to you and yours on this. I do hope they will be better soon!

Two questions:
1. I haven't made any room requests. No one is handicap but my DMIL has expressed some concern in the amount of walking we will be doing. We just have a "regular room" not preferred. Is there a room request I should make? I know we will have to be in the AB since there are 5 of us.
2. Is there really an advantage to doing the online check in so early? I know it says I can check in on 10/13 though we do not arrive until 10/23. Just curious! I know I have read in the past that doing the online check in ended up not saving them time b/c there were not as many CMs working that desk.
TIA!

Have all the rooms been refurbished? Some of the pictures look like refurbished rooms and some do not. I am thinking of staying at a mod for a couple of nights before we move to YC. We tried POFQ in May for one night before our poly stay, and we got a really run down room. We switched to Akl after an hour. I like the idea of being close to DDD for a couple of nights . We never go to DDD at night from the deluxes because the bus service is so awful. Thanks.

But is there a good strategy to get one of the refurb AB rooms that sleep 5?

By Xmas, probably four AB buildings will be done - but none will be in the Preferred buildings, so no point upgrading. Just keep an eye on the threads here to see when buildings are completed, and request a refurbished AB room. Good luck!

This may seem like a silly question, but is anyone else wondering with the new murphy bed being under the tv in AB, will watching tv when the kiddos go to sleep a thing of past?

That's the first I heard of the new bed replacement, but I would think that they would be too close to the tv for light to keep them awake, as the light would shine past them. As for sound I can sit there and watch the tv at really low volume just fine from the bed, without disturbing the rest of the family.

Subscribing...and hoping to see a pic of an AB section refurb some day... We are considering a trip in mid-February. We are a family of 5 so I'm assuming we will be placed in the AB section. When I go to the booking page, a garden view room comes up with the description that includes two queen beds but does not mention any trundle or Murphy bed...

Also, I see a PP trying to upgrade to POR during free dining is having a tough time with availability. Is this common for this resort to book up for promotions like this?

Thanks :)

Thanks KCMike! I'm sure we will have a close, personal relationship with that pool on our next trip since we will be in AB-such pretty pictures!

25 more days! 15 1/2 more work days (I work a 4 day work week)...deep breaths. ;)

I hope someone has the answers to your questions because I was going to ask the same ones. We are also a family of 5 so I know we are in AB - I don't want to be super far away from the main pool/dining but I think for us, I really want to be close to a decent bus stop. Last time we were at Disney the on-line check in was new and I don't think it was fully working so we didn't do it then. I'm going Nov. 5 - Nov. 13th and our flight doesn't come in until 3:40 :sad2: Wondering if there will be any decent placements left by that late time of the day.

No. But I bet you will see it here first.

Can't wait!!!! Anyone want to make predictions?

I'll start.

Prediction: Since the Magnolia Bend went much softer, I predict the same with AB. A light green wall, with new quilts with many shades of green. Perhaps new pictures with a focus on the Princess and the Frog. Lots of alligators and swamps. Maybe replace the sinks with ones like the refurbsihed POFQ but more rustic. I can't imagine a change to the beds except making them Queen.

I believe it will be the same refurb colors everywhere, except the royal room ones. That is what I read.

I'm sure you guys have heard it before "requests are not guaranteed", but do make sure you make them. I really believe that the Resort staff do everything they can to accomodate people as much as possible. I know that's not much help-but the first step is to ask to have the request noted on your reservation, so it's a start.

As for online check-in, I just do it b/c it's fun! That's it really. :)

Tammil-the rooms aren't even usually ready until official check-in time of 3pm, don't sweat it. We won't get to POR until about 5:30 or 6pm, I requested a 1st floor room corner room for DS4 (my sweetie pie-I try to make things as easy as possible, stairs sometimes trip him up and he loves to people watch) and if we don't get it then "oh well" wasn't meant to be. After I started getting perturbed about the whole no monorail for MNSSHP, I was like-"this is vacation, I'm not getting stressed about anything, what happens, happens". It will all work out-Hakuna Matata!

We're a family of 5 and we arrived at POR after 10 p.m. We were given building 17 :goodvibes. We went to our 2nd floor room, (carried our luggage up) and smelled the smoke before we even opened the door :sad2:. The manager was great and offered us an upgrade to building 15 although we would have been happy with another room in 17 or 18. Also, we did not do online check-in.

Thought I would share a few pics from our trip.... sorry for the quality, they were taken with my cellphone camera (it is a pretty cheap one too)

This one is the view we had as we walked out of our room and turned left onto the sidewalk....

I do hope that they stick with the generally rustic feel of the current rooms, I don't think there's much point in making them look too much like the Magnolia Bend rooms.

I predict that when you pull down the extra bed from the wall, you'll find a surprise Princess and the Frog character detail (think about what the area of the resort is called for a clue...).

And the comforters on the beds will also have hidden details...
