we'll be there Nov '11 also and none of the AB rooms will be done by then... someone posted the refurb sched a few pages back for me... check it out :)

The first Alligator Bayou building (#36) is scheduled to be completed on or around 11 November, so you might get lucky.

Yeah I guess your right if they start with that building first and only need two weeks to complete, they might get lucky then. Are they doing those as one building at a time? Or working on the four combined as one total refurb area for those 8 weeks?

Are there any other families totally excited about the Royal Rooms. We are booking one for May to surprise DD princess: for her 5th birthday. She will eat that Princess Tiana backstory up with a spoon! :yay:

Basically one at a time, but there is some overlap between finishing one building and starting the next.

I AM!!! We are suprising a friends DD for her 5th bday and my 3 DD's(just because lol) and cant wait for them! We have only stayed deluxe so I am hoping I love them and POR! :lovestruc

We have never been to POR but hear great things on this board about it. Some of the only complaints have been dirty/dingy rooms but we wont have to worry about that with the New Royal Rooms so I am expecting a great stay!

I'm excited for the Royal rooms and I'm not even traveling with kids. :rotfl: I booked it for my 30th birthday. Why not live like royalty the week of my birthday? ;)

We will be booking a Royal room for a 11 day stay when we get back from this vacation.

Hey anyone here a garden expert? let me know.

I wouldn't say expert. But I help my mom in her vegetable garden (lifting, tilling, fencing, etc) and in exchange, she makes me a cauldron of chili from the ingredients that comes from the garden, every Fall. I love my mom's chili made with fresh habeneros  (goes great with Kraft shredded Jack Cheese).

Maybe I can help you.

Not to worried because We get what we paid for nothing less. Not worried about occupancy, I mean it's Disney world.

Well, the reason we go in September is because of lower crowds and for me that has included the resorts and pools. POR is so big and we go when it's low crowds anyways, so it always seems empty. I'd hate to have that benefit disappear because of increased occupancy due to the royal rooms.

i've seen you assert that a few times in this thread... almost like you hope they screw up so you can get a deluxe for a mod price... LOL!

and from someone who has seen the occasional screw up with resort rooms, don't get your heart set on getting the poly even if something does go awry... it just doesn't always work that way... they can, and do, tell guests NO to unreasonable or even reasonable requests/demands (like if i don't get the room or view i want, even paid for, i will be upgraded to a higher grade resort) all the time... at best you will be offered a comparable resort (i.e. POFQ or CSR) and at worst, you can be downgraded to a value (yep, it can happen!)... just hope you are not downgraded to a tent site! :rotfl:

my advice is that if you really want to stay at the poly, book the poly... if it means a longer wait 'til vacation or a shorter vacation, but it's the resort that will make your trip most magical, then it's worth the wait/cost/etc... it's not a dreamy magical vacation if you have to "settle" kwim?

I agree with this. My daughter was made sick by a screw up and we got moved to a different room at the same resort. It was fine with us as switching rooms in a rush is hard enough (we had dining reservations we had to get to when they finally found a room for us so we moved fast by ourselves :headache:).

I loved POR when we stayed there and can't wait to be back there in 52 days. Last time we were in AB even with just 4 of us but this time we are in the mansions.

from the unofficial PO site:

The following dates include some overlap between buildings, and are obviously always going to be SUBJECT TO CHANGE, so please don't make your wedding plans based on them! I have deliberately not quoted the planned completion dates to avoid anyone getting disappointed.

•Magnolia Bend, Acadian House: starts 26 June 2011, for approx. six weeks
•Magnolia Bend, Magnolia Terrace: starts 31 July 2011, for approx. six weeks
•Alligator Bayou, Lodges 36, 37, 38, 39: starts 25 October 2011, for approx. eight weeks
•Magnolia Bend, Oak Manor: starts 15 January 2012, for approx. five weeks [Royal Themed Rooms]
•Magnolia Bend, Parterre Place: starts 19 February 2012, for approx. five weeks [Royal Themed Rooms]
•Alligator Bayou, Lodges 24, 16, 17, 28: starts 3 April 2012, for approx. eight weeks
•Alligator Bayou, Lodges 14, 27, 18, 15: starts 8 May 2012, for approx. seven weeks
•Alligator Bayou, Lodges 25, 35, 26, 34: starts 5 June 2012, for approx. eight weeks
The construction work will happen one building at a time, however especially in Alligator Bayou it looks as though work on the next lodge may well commence before the previous one has been fully completed, giving some overlap where two buildings could be out of use at the same time.

I have no idea why the schedule for the two mansion buildings which are due for the 'Royal' treatment (Oak Manor and Parterre Place) is slightly shorter than the other two buildings - you'd have thought they would actually take longer to complete. Time will tell I guess.
