Just thought I'd post a few pics of POR from our trip last week. I have some I'll post on the POFQ thread as well:

This was the view of POR from outside our room at French Quarter: ;)

On the way to see Bob:

This was the first time we saw Yeehaw Bob - he was so much fun! He got everyone into the show and my daughter enjoyed getting to meet him as well.

I'm sure I'll find more to post. I took over 1000 pictures this trip!

Anyone else a little underwhelmed by the look of the new rooms? I'm just kind of "eh" about them.

I like that they modernized the room with a better tv, av jacks, and newer furniture. But the rest kinda left me not so wowed unless daytime inside pics turnout better? But POFQ refurb rooms look better. The bed sets look ten times better at the FQ.

Thank you!!! I'll add building 14 to my requests. Think I'm going to ask for a ground floor since we'll have 2 yr old with us.
Now...if only December wasn't so far away. :rotfl:

I'm not so sure I like the new headboards in the Mansion rooms. Just not sure about the pictures in them. Maybe if you see them in person....I like the better TV though. I'd wish for a refurbed room in December for the TV alone but the fact that the queen beds may do away with the trundles, I'll be happy with whatever we get. Last trip to POR probably as a family unless our income goes up & we can afford 2 connecting rooms. :sad2:

You'll need to upgrade to Preferred if you want building 14.

Hey Bill does it normally cost more to get preferred? I got upgraded to that last year for nothing it was my requested room last year because someone told me about it.

I think 2011 is the first year of the preferred category at POR, I could be wrong about that. I'm sure others will know if that's true. 14 is a great location and everybody used to request it before it became preferred. Yes, there is an extra charge of $25 per night for preferred.

You are correct. Last year, it was just a request. This year, it's a bookable category.

Ohh wow my trip that was this past feb was something they did for free for me after they messed up. Cool

I love POR! It has the most beautiful grounds. I think I like the POFQ rooms better though. I am horrified to feel this way, but I think the pictures on the headboards are a little creepy. I think it reminds me of a headstone with a photo on it :(

I am hoping photos from the inside change my mind. Thanks so much for taking the time out of your vacation to do some recon.

Strangely enough I was thinking something was off with the headboards, and now I agree with your mental picture and now that is all I see when I look at them too.

I have uploaded a few more of my pictures (quality is not good since the room was dark). I keep looking at the previous pictures I posted (room with light on) and the more I look, the more I think it may be an accessible room.

I am pretty sure you are right. The 'dark' room is standard layout, the 'light' one looks much more like an Accessible Room as it follows the POFQ differences exactly. The 'dark' photos look like two different rooms too - the first few photos have two queen beds, while the latter one looks to have a single King bed.

Just from these limited views, I so far tend to agree that the POFQ rooms do seem to look rather more elegant and sophisticated, but we'll need to see some more detailed pics to know for sure.

And it looks like they may have removed the rotary dimmer switches from the panels over the bedside table too. I do hope not, but from this angle they look like standard on/off switches to me... :( Any chance you could examine one of the pics in more detail?

Andre

I have to say Andre, even though POR Website states Queen size beds, it does look in the sneaky pictures that those beds look like SMALL Queen size beds. I hope I'm wrong..........:confused3

If only they would have made the Haunted Mansion rooms. *Sigh* the headstone theme would fit, lol

I know, right!! I am going to call and request a top floor room if we dont move resorts.I have a pref room right now. I need to do some research on the POP threads to see the best room to request. I was thinking over looking the hippity dippity pool!:confused3

Our room overlooked the lake behind the resort (I booked standard but got the water view) where you can see those old buildings that are not complete. We had no problems but we stayed at POP in June of last year for 3 nights. No complaints here at all.

Hi Andre,
I did zoom in on the light switch in the pictures and it does appear they did indeed remove the rotary dimmer. It is just the standard on/off switch. That is how it was in our room at FQ as well. The middle switch turned the fan off/on and the switches on either side controlled the lights above each bed. I also agree that the rooms at FQ are elegant.

If you'd like me to email you the room pictures so you can examine them further (zoom in on them, etc.), feel free to PM me your email and I'll be happy to send them to you.

I see in your signature that you have an upcoming trip to POR. Did you make any particular room/section request?

I was also wondering when they will let guests start staying in Acadian House as it appeared to be complete, but not occupied.

Thanks,
Beth

We stayed in 1443 and loved it. It had just been cleaned and even shampoo the carpets before we got in. It is a very short distance to food court and main bus depot. Here are some Google earth I have more pics of the view from the room and balcony. If you want pics from AB building 14 let me know. It had two double beds and a trundle bed.

In this second photo it is actually the room to the right of the one I circled. Sorry.

I've stayed in that very same building on bottom floor 2 doors to the right as looking at pic.

We are going to POR again in October and I so can't wait. Will be staying in the Mansions this time
