Just an FYI, we booked the bounce back for next September which included the free dining.

Wow... Looks like the free dining is not just Canadians any more. You just gotta be "just close enough".

Hopefully they expand this policy just a little further south so I can capitalize on it.

Bwahahahahahahaha (sinister laugh)

How do you get a bounceback offer? Is this a PIN code that was mailed to you?

A bounceback offer is a card with an offer on it sometimes left for you in your resort during your stay. The offer must be booked before you check out of your room. We were at POR in March and we received one but it only went through the end of 2011 and our plan was to come back a year later, again in March so it did us no good. Someone else may be able to give you a more complete answer.

We are here now staying in Acadian House. The newly refurbished rooms are nice. I love the queen size beds and we've never seen such a shiny bathroom!!!

The bounceback offer in our room today has dates from 8/17 - 9/27 2012 for moderates and 8/19 - 9/27 for deluxes.

I was at POR the last week of Aug and the bounce back offer was from AUG 17-Sept 27, the offer was 5-night/5-day at select moderate resorts includes magic your way with free dining (quick serve only) for $102 per person, per day total price of $2,039 for a family of 4.

The other offer was for AKL or DWL 5-night/5-day for $130 per person, per day includes magic your way with free dining (reg dining plan). Total price of $2,590 for a family of 4.

A $200 deposit is required to take advantage of either offer, and you need to make this reservation prior to your check-out date.

I called after I got home on my check-out date and asked about two adults at a value. I got 5-night/5-day with quick service dining plan for $1,200.:woohoo:

If you are at/going and there is not a bouceback page in your room just call housekeeping and ask if they have any and if they can drop one off to your room at their convince.

As of now I'm booked at POR for marathon weekend. :goodvibes I had never really considered POR until yesterday when I saw that CSR was sold out of rooms in my price range. After looking at photos I'm not sure why it wasn't on my radar before! Both Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend are GORGEOUS. I can't wait to see it all in person.

Hey I need a few DSLR Veterans help? Please PM me if you have yahoo or msn or what ever you use. I need some help with cameras.

Thanks

Just to confirm... the flyers that state the free quick service dining plan at the moderates is wrong. I booked on my day of checkout, and got the free standard dining plan at POR. Agent said flyers were incorrect, but sometimes it takes mousekeeping a while to switch them out. Got my email confirmation, and it is confirmed the normal 1 ts, 1 cs and 1 snack plan for next year. And the refillable mugs for all of us.

We also got the full DP for POR for next September, even though the flyer stated QS instead.

Thanks. Yeah I am just having such a difficult time looking at a new DSLR.

What do you use if I may ask? Having stuck in pros and cons with NIKON and Canon.

I just got home this evening from a 10 night/11 day trip. We stayed at Riverside for the first time and we really liked it! We had requested AB because I didnt think we would have chance at staying in the refurbed mansion rooms. They actually put us in the Acadian House without having to ask. We were riverview on the 2nd floor and we had a great view of the river! We loved the room and the walk to both the North depot bus stop and the Riverside Mill was great...not too long of a walk and beautiful scenery! Our buses were wonderful...we never waited more than 10 mins for a bus..most of the time, a bus came in about 5 mins. We didnt use the South depot..only the North and it wasnt busy. We had so much fun and I was so sad to leave!!!

I have a Nikon D3100 that I picked up earlier this year, which was rated as a good entry level DSLR.
I have both the stock 18-55 MM lens with Vibration Resistance, and a 55-300MM zoom with Vibration Resistance. The VR really helps prevent blurry pictures.
My cousin's husband and a co-worker both use Canon, and both are of the belief that either Nikon or Canon, you can't go wrong.

Here's a couple of pictures I took this spring, using the full 300 MM zoom, and cropping to get the close up shots from around 30-45 ft.

Wow I saw a Package at local Bestbuy, Nikon D3100 with a 55-200mm and 18-55mm for: $749.98

or same with 55-300mm VR Lense instead for: $849.98

Wow webstah, that's quite a streak you've got going there. It makes me feel secure in my decision. :thumbsup2

Thanks for reminding me, I forgot to add next years trip!
We tried a couple of other resorts, but always wound up back at POR, so we figure we shouldn't mess with what we like.
Some people may find it boring to stay at the same resort again and again, we find it relaxing

That's basically the same deal I got. When I added a couple of UV filters and the 8 GB level 10 memory card, it wound up being around $910.00.

I already had a large camera bag, and a smaller tote bag which fit the camera, so I didn't need to get those.
They were left over from my 30 year old Olympus OM10.
