Oh come on now, it was only 86 today and we're looking at an average of 85 for the next week.

Yeah your right and it was better than last week where we had that heat advisory! This week was nice though. I want more rain so we can put these Dismal Swamp fires out.

POFQ seems to have some new activities like movies in a courtyard as well as some organized pool activities....anything of this sort going on at POR?

Here you go (bigger versions at www.portorleans.org/recreation.php#Movies)

I don't know about anyone else but I am SOOOOO excited for these activities!!! The rooms are so small it will be so nice to have so many things to do outside of the room for the kids.:goodvibes:woohoo::goodvibes:woohoo:

:woohoo: POR next Friday!!!!! See you by the pool! You know where my chair is.....I reserved it on page 50 of this thread.

We still haven't had a summer here and it is mid August....our temps have been hovering around 15 degrees (60 degrees F) most days. Hopefully we won't have too much trouble adjusting to the August temperatures in Florida.

Oh soooo unfair! We've been in triple digits everyday for about a month down here.:rotfl: I'm so tired of temps over 100 degrees every day. I use my sprinkler system every other night leaving each station on 12 minutes, plus water my outside plants by hand early every morning and they're still trying to die. The excessive heat is just killing everything down here.

Made our ressie for a river view room oct 24-31st! Now I'm just hoping and praying for a refurbed room! I put in request for mansions, ground floor, near a pool. Are river view rooms normally in the mansions anyway?

I'm so excited to back to POR! The DH has never been there and we're takin my DB too, and this resort will be a first for him! Was thinking of doing FQ instead, but jsut couldn't! I'm excited for the movies at night too!

Hi everyone!!! Joining in on the thread! I'm sooo excited I book DH and I's anniversary trip for August 2012!!! We have stayed at POR a few years back when we were a family of five...and when our DD came along I was sad knowing we wouldn't be able to stay at my favorite resort again :(...but now I can since it will be a trip sans kiddos!!:thumbsup2:cool1:

Question...the new Royal Room looks AMAZING!!! I was going to upgrade our current reservation for a king room...anyone have any idea what that might look like?? I just think it would be nice to have one, king size bed for just DH and I.

Also...I was going to book POFQ...never been...but it gets such great reviews...but I went back to good ol' POR...I just love the atmosphere, landscaping, ambiance. So excited!!

Yay! Another DISer that has a longer wait just like me! I'm currently booked in a Royal Room but am waiting to see what the regular refurb rooms will look like. I may switch to a king room instead since it's just me and my DBf.

I originally was booked at POFQ but switched over to POR. The pool at POFQ does nothing for me and it seemed most of the other amenities were at POR. So POR it is! :thumbsup2

We will be arriving in 21 days for our first stay at POR. I requested a room close to a pool and the food court.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what section or building to ask for ?

Building 14 puts you right behind the food court and a short walk to the main biggest pool there. You should be set then.

I guess "the grass is always greener.....", or so they say. We haven't had to water a thing since it has rained at least a little every day. Although, I think I would take my temperatures over yours. Triple digits might be a little bit much for my northern bones.;)

amazing. i read as much as i can on here. then POW your pictures show up adn it's all happy again!!!

Somewhere around building 34 I believe.

Our summer trip is 10 days away...DH and I have a countdown for our Anniversary trip in November. Every day we text back and forth, is it time yet?:rotfl:

KCMike That pic is where I want to retire :lovestruc

Oh to retire. Is that even possible nowadays?

anorman we have the same countdown! We leave Wed for St. Pete Beach, for 2 nights, then POR!
If those storms off Africa stay away, it should be good!

KCmike You are a really talented photographer! Disney should hire you to do their resort pics!

AB is a beautiful section, just not fond of the twig furniture!

Thanks Sue. No talent here, seriously. I just shoot for fun. Not too much knowledge involved.

Yeah you have some truly amazing shots, thanks so much for sharing!

I adore that picture KCmike!

4 months feels like so far away!! :scared1:

Thanks you two!

Another beautiful picture KCMike! Makes me remember how it feels to be walking back from the pool bar wtih my girly drink :cool1:. Only 25 more days!

Can anyone tell me if the waterslide at POR is fun? What about the pool? I see pics, it looks nice for me but im talking kids here lol we will be traveling with a party of 17, 5 will be kids. Is there a kiddie pool or area? We stayed at the Poly last year and the pool was fun but crowded.

Slide is good. Better than most hotels. The pool is your standard pool with water falling from the wooden structures and shooting from spouts in one area of the pool. There is also a smaller kiddie pool (think about calf deep if that). The hot tub is next to Ol Man Island and its pretty small. There are also "quiet pools" around the resort that are simple pools without the slide. The best slides in my opinion are at GF, Poly, and Boardwalk.
