Port Orleans Riverside FAQ thread - Royally Refurbished for 2011

We're planning on going to WDW in June 2012 and I was discussing with my DH where should we stay. I really really really love POR. We've stayed in AB twice. I am a little concerned about the rooms since they really weren't in that great shape in 2008. We stayed at POFQ in 2004 and while I liked it, I really fell in love with POR.

So any way, I showed my DH pictures of the refurbished rooms at POFQ and then I showed hime the Royal rooms in POR. He really like the Royal rooms. I was suprised because I thought he would think they were to princessy. But he said they looked more distinquished than the PORFQ.

Needless to say, I am so excited:banana::banana:.

Does anyone know which buildings at POR are the preferred sections? In AB and MB? Thanks!

Yet another Riverside Mill Picture. I like this one though because it was framed by greenery and love the reflection in the water. Hope you all enjoy.

ahhhhh.......beautiful!

After a brief check on the other site, there are no new building permits filed as of yet and no one has managed to snag any pics of the latest refurb....

However, the quiet pool between building 80/Acadian House and 85/Magnolia Terrace will be down for refurbishment from September 5th through October 7th and will re-open on October 8th.

You'd have thought they'd have scheduled the pool work to occur while Acadian and/or Magnolia were down for refurbishment wouldn't you? Next week both are likely out of action for example (Magnolia Terrace work is due to commence this weekend). Instead they wait until both buildings are back in use!

Well, that would make perfect sense... I hadn't thought of it that way; and I am a construction manager, you would think I would!

so beautiful.. very serene!!! cannot wait. still on triple digits on the countdown to get there!!!

I'll be there 9/24-10/1 and currently have a request in for a refurbished room, which by the time I arrive will presumably be Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace. But now with this little quiet pool refurbishment, I am torn! I love the quiet pool between Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace. Never been to the one between Oak and Parterre. How is that one? Would it be worth it to stay in an "old" room to be near that quiet pool or would you still prefer to stay in "new" room and just walk to that quiet pool (or the main one) ?

I would just walk over to the other quiet pool; or the main pool.

I think at this point, I would prefer to be in a refurb room.

The two pools are pretty nearly to identical. However obviously it might be a bit busier than normal with the other Magnolia Bend pool closed.

I love reading this thread, if for no other reason to see the new KCMike pic!!!

Yes, it would have made more sense, but I'm glad the pool will be open during my stay
When we were in Mag. Terrace we spent most of our pool time in the quiet pool. It was so close- we were on the side just opposite the pool. And the main pool was usually closed mid afternoon for the daily T-Storm
