Love, love, love the pics from AB.

I love the comforter and the shower curtain; love the wall color and the new style bed.

You can now see the storage drawers under the murphy bed from that angle. I really like the headboard.

Love the tin cover on the fridge and the little side shelf next to it.

Also like the storage under the sinks, plus the detail of the washboard.

Fantastic job!

I could not agree more!! They did a GREAT job with everything! I can't wait to go back next year!! :dance3:

I am so excited we have 304 days until our first trip to POR and I cant wait. I love the new look of the room and we have never stayed at a mod so its very exciting.

I also love the new AB decor! I was never an AB fan and always requested the mansions, but now I wouldn't be hesitant to stay in AB. Might even request it! I'd feel like I was at a whole new resort!

We aren't a family of 5 so it's a non issue for me, but I have to stay that the murphy bed doesn't look like much of an upgrade from the trundle. I don't know that it was necessarily supposed to be but I was under the impression that the new murphy bed would be suitable for a teen or even an adult. It appears to me it would be too small for anyone but a child, and the fact that's a good ways off the ground for someone to roll off is a negative compared to the trundle that was just on the ground. I will say though, that aesthetically it's nicer looking and if you have 5 people in the room, it's easy to get around and not in the way. The person on the bed next to where the trundle would be doesn't have to tip toe and climb around to get out of the bed.

Would anyone know if it is cheaper at the refurbed AB rooms verses the Princess Rooms? Or about the same?

Murphy Bed! I thought at first glance it was a changing table. Good Lord, I'm losing it. We will be there in 29 days and have requested a reburbed room just to get the queen beds. We'll see. I love the look of the new room but we may end up at Magnolia Bend. I'm so happy to be going if we don't get a "new" room I'm not going to complain. It's the new me. :santa:

As PP said, the royal rooms are an upcharge from a standard view room, similar to how a water view or preferred room are upcharges.

The Princess rooms are higher than the AB rooms.

Thanks. I tried to call today and change and I think I confused the guy by asking for a refurbed room in AB. I guess I just need to call and request AB Building 36 or 37? I will not be there until March. Is there an exact date they are supposed to be done or did I miss it? We have stayed here before but never in the AB section and figured we would give it a try.
Thanks for your help! :thumbsup2

What are my chances of getting a refurbed room in AB for May 5th-13th? What are the chances of the preferred rooms (AB 14, 15, 18, or 27) being finished?

Just 4 of the more remote AB buildings will be complete by then (36-39) but none of the Preferred Locations I'm afraid (they won't be started until around 8 May).

Andre

By March, Alligator Bayou 36, 37, 38 and 39 will be done.

Andre

Andre, I'm confused. If AB 36-39 are going to be completed by March, wouldn't more buildings be completed by early May?:confused3 How long is each building taking? I'm thinking about moving my May trip from POFQ to PORS, but if there's a good chance I wouldn't get into a AB refurbed room, I'd just wait until my Sept trip to try them and keep the May trip at POFQ or maybe CSR.

if 36 was just completed this week, and three more are expected by march, i would "guess-timate" that they are taking about a month apiece, which would add maybe two more by may... so your chances are like 50% of getting an AB refurb room in May, assuming you have a party of 5... if your party is smaller, then your chances are greater of getting a Mansions refurbed room...

Building 36 is done now, the buildings are taking about 2 weeks each to refurb. Target completion for the four buildings is December 15th. Once they have 36-39 done, they will be taking a break at AB for a while. During that break at AB they will be working on the remaing two Magnolia Bend Mansion buildings.

Is building 36 the only one that is done atm? Im leaving Dec 10th for my stay

37 will be opening very soon, and 38 by early December.

They will also be avoiding doing work over the two weeks of Easter.

The provisional schedule I posted back in June (see http://www.portorleans.org/rehab.php#110611) still seems very accurate so far, and hopefully it will stay that way.

Oh OK, that makes sense now. Thanks!

Are the new beds in AB queens or fulls? It look like the same frame so I assume they are fulls.

I do see a problem with storage. I often get up before the kids and dress. I would not be able to access the drawers under the 5th bed if someone is still sleeping there. Not sure where we are going to keep all of our stuff.

Can't believe I looked at my countdowns and noticed today it's below triple digits now.
