We're arriving on Monday for a 10 night stay in the Royal guest rooms.

I just received the email from Disney Destinations that says:

"Since we want to help you get the most magic out of your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation, we're planning on staying in touch by emailing you special offers and more while you're here! For example:

SPECIAL OFFERS...
We'll share special offers available to you only while you're visiting. Some expire upon check-out, so be sure to check your email often so you don't miss out!"

I was just wondering what kind of special offers they send you? Are they like bounce back room vacation offers? Or something else?

Thanks in advance.

That's interesting! I wonder too!! Let us know!

So excited! Love all the info here. I just booked a Royal Room for our stay in December. Can't wait to see it in person. :lovestruc

I feel the same way! Checking in 10/16 & can't wait! :yay: Should I pack my tiara??? :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Which just goes to prove that the very nice people in David's department at Port Orleans do read faxes! :)

Great news. I didn't want to say anything when I saw what you'd sent (especially as I didn't want to get yours, or any other peoples, hopes up) but I do know that if there is enough availability and they can make changes to keep parties together, they will try to do so. The difficulty comes when one person has booked a Royal Room and the other wants a King Bed, as (very ironically, or so it seems to me) there are no King rooms in the Royal buildings.

I totally didnt expect it. I really didn't expect an email response at all. I figured we'd show up Saturday and hopefully be in a room at least somewhat close to my mom. If not, well, we'd burn a few extra calories next week!

I showed my seven year old the pictures of the royal room and she started crying! Aww!!!!

Wow!!! What a beautiful photo. It just draws me in and makes me feel I'm there. Thanks for sharing.

OMG.

They received my fax. I got an email within a few hours!!!

This is above and beyond anything I asked for and beyond anything I expected!!!

We are getting a free upgrade to a royal room. I seriously can't believe it. I burst into tears when I read the email! It was a Mr. Elg and he said the easiest way to put us close to our family would be a "complimentary upgrade to a royal room" so that he could put us in side by side rooms. He ended the email with "if that is ok with you, let me know." um, yes, yes that is ok with me!!!

That's is so awesome!!!!!!!

They faxed me back asking me additional questions to my original question.... Within the hour... So someone reads it!!

OMG I told you he would hook you all up!!! It pays to know some people here. Mr. Elg will if it is heavenly possible help you where he can. Glad to see he could help you above what you expected.

D.....

Great to hear Beamer. I Mr. Elg has in fact told me as part of his morning routine reading requests that come in during and after his day.

Dh has lyme disease, so he sleeps a lot, I asked for a second floor room since we really only plan to see him for dinner and an hour after..... They wanted to make sure they knew it would be without an elevator... Which was fine :)

Thanks. I posted a lot over on the picture thread, but some people don't venture over there, so I will post one on here every once in a while. I still haven't put any days but my first on flickr, so there are many more to come.

Sooooooo....................

My family and I spend a week at the Beach Club each August. I also spend 5 days down in the World each December for an annual work conference. The conference takes place at the Marriott Grand but I always choose to stay at a WDW resort because I couldn't imagine being down there and not stay at WDW!

In the past I have tried to save my company a few bucks (they pay for my trip down) by staying at POP Century. I have to be honest, I hate it there. I run around to the parks but hate that when I was back at the resort that I had to either be in my room or the food court. There was really no other place to hang out. This year I got a great rate for either POR, CBR or CSR (POFQ was not available)

So after my long winded introduction here is my dilemma! Years ago my DW and I always stayed at the then, Dixie Landings. We really liked it a lot. Also, we stayed at the Caribbean Beach for our honeymoon waaaaaay back in '91. For sentimental reasons I thought about booking my trip at the CB and request the area we stayed in way back when. When looking at the amenities at the POR I decided to book my room there. The lounge, boat to Downtown Disney, Boatrights and the much better food court all came into play. I am now questioning whether to stick with POR or move to CBR!

I was hoping my POR friends here could weigh in and tell me I am crazy to stay at POR. I think I need a little convincing right now that I have made the right decision! Also, I am a bit worried as to where the Pop Warner kids are staying as I am down during the time they are scheduled to be in WDW. I have heard POR is where they stay.

Thanks in advance for your help and sorry so long winded!!

Jay

Nice...we honeymooned at CBR in '89..... we haven't stayed there since, but we've gone back for long walks down memory lane..... We like other resorts better,so we just sort of visit CBR...it's so pretty there...we take pics, etc. But amenities at places like POFQ,etc keep us going there to stay!

it's very cool to read here that requests do at least get read...and honored,if possible:thumbsup2
as per another thread(there are so many) I checked out the do's and don'ts for requests,it says you can either call or fax? looks like most people here are faxing...and it can't be any earlier than approx 5 days before you go?
( I don't know how to fax,any advice?)
I know for sure I want to ask for top floor corner, building 7-ish(farthest out)
not near the movie courtyard...is that too demanding?
BTW,on the maps,I can't tell where the parking for guests is....are there lots all around the buildings?

Parking is all around the perimeter, for easy access to all the outer buildings... the light green areas with the thick black outlines on the map.

The resort team suggest faxing rather than phoning, as that way they KNOW it will get to the right place, whereas phone calls get answered by the central WDW switchboard first and the message might not get through correctly. 3-5 days out is ideal, as that's when they'll be working on your arrival dates.

Unless you are privileged enough to have the direct numbers Andre :thumbsup2

Building 7 is one of the buildings in POFQ, did you notice that this thread is for POR? (Although Andre is the one who created the portorleans.org site which covers both, so he can certainly answer your questions.)

Hey all!

Two more days!!!

Just put in My garden grocer order. Forgot bottled water!!! Does POR sell it by the case? What is the price? It's like $8 from Garden Grocer so if it's about the same, I'll just buy it down there rather than trying to get my order changed.

I ordered it from Walmart.com it shipped out o Tampa as is there already. It only took one day. It was really a good price. I would go that route.

It said delivery est sep11-17 and it arrived on the 11, when I ordered it on the 9th. Really quick and cheap...
