I'm here right now (storm break) and although we are in a regular mansion it's probably the same. I don't think between the beds would work -- but there is a good amount of space between the enterance door and the first bed in.

Thanks I will order this from amazon then. THANK YOU;)

We stayed 3 nights at the end of our trip in a Royal Room. They are as beautiful as all the pictures, I loved staying there. I requested Oak Manor near the main building.

Since we were doing a split stay, I faxed my request 10 days in advance :scared1: asking also if we could be on ground floor.

I did on-line check in. We arrived about 2pm, our room was ready in Oak Manor, on the ground floor & I felt we were reasonably close to the main bldg. We had paid for a garden view, we basically had a hedge infront of all the airconditioning for the building, it wasn't what I'd call a garden view but I got over it because we were located in them middle section of the resort but facing the interior garden area infront of the river. I liked being on the river side of the resort vs. the parking lot side.

There is construction going on in the parking lot behind Oak Manor towards the non-Royal room building on the way to the east parking lot.

I'm still unpacking but once I get organized, I'm going to do a trip report and post some pics. They won't be as good as vemonhatch (whose are - lol!) but we took a carriage ride on the horse our last night through AB and it was so lovely.

THis is a beautiful resort. I was so glad to stay here and thanks Andre for all the wonderful information so I knew what I wanted before arrival :goodvibes

Does anyone know how good Port Orleans is about taking your preference of what section you asked for when booking when it's time for your stay?? My son has low muscle tone so we asked for a room near the food court and bus stop. What are the odds they will be able to accommodate this request? :confused3

From what I've been seeing and my own personal experience, though not with POR, if you call reservations and explain the situation they will make a note on your booking. Then a few days before you are due to arrive, call the hotel and speak with them directly to reiterate your request and the reasons for it.

In a situation where there is a genuine medical need, especially for a child, I imagine Disney would do whatever they are able to.

I'm sure if you explain your situation they will be more than happy to accommodate you. Somewhere on this thread someone posted an example of a FAX request form to be faxed to PO 5 days before arrival. You can explain your preference on that form and hope for the best.

Thanks! I will be sure to call them over the weekend to explain our situation ahead of time since our trip is next week pixiedust:

Hi all!

Quick question - when I complete my online check in, can I request a specific building, or at least Magnolia Terrace vs. Alligator Bayou?

Thanks!

22 more days!

Well we checked in at POR around 4pm this aftenoon, only a few people in line and very helpful CM at the desk - they were coming out to the line to bring people over to the desks, which is a nice new touch. The lobby has just had some lovely small chairs added around the TV, specially for the kids, in matching colours to the new carpet, really cute.

We'd booked river view, and we've got a lovely pixie-dusted corner room on the groud floor in building 14. Gorgeous view.

Haven't done much, just unpacked, got a bite to eat at the food court and had a swim this evening. Probably going to MK tomorrow.

Hi All!
We're arriving next Tuesday (8/21) :woohoo: and I have a two questions.
I am a tea drinker and I know I read that some of you were too so maybe you can help me. Are there any tea bags available in the rooms or just coffee?
Does anyone know how far Walmart is from the resort? Can we stop on our way from the airport? I want to buy water. DH doesn't want to ship anything to the resort (I don't understand his reasoning, but I'm going along).
Still haven't done on-line check-in because I can't decide if it will help or hurt. I have no requests in yet, but I plan to send a fax tomorrow.
Thanks for any help!

Have a great time Andre! Hope you enjoyed NY.

I have a question for you guys... Does anyone know if I can fit a toddler air bed in between the two queen beds in a royal room? I have an almost 2 year old who has been sleeping in a toddler bed already... And I don't think the pack n play will work?? I would love to know if it will and if there would be any room to walk around it.

Thank you!!!

We leave for our 1st trip to POR, and first for kiddos...in 15 DAYS

I MAY pixiedust:lol

We haven't stayed in POR since they've updated - but previously we could fit an air-mattress bet/ the door and first bed. We've done it that way at both POR and CSR because our kids don't like to sleep together.

:cool1:Just rec'd our confirmation from travel agent we have 2 Royal Guest rooms reserved for Dec 8-18! We haven't stayed at POR for probably 6 or 7 years - my kids requested that we go back. They however are a little disappointed to not have the rustic "tree" beds as they always called them.

Did you miss the storm we had Andre? My nephew & I were actually in the pool watching my daughter in the hula hoop contest and the loudest ever crack of lightening came out of nowhere! I never moved so fast in my life. lol

The staff in the lobby has been quite helpful and one even walked the kids over to show them where the mailbox was when they went up to ask and another time a CM sought my daughter out to exchange pins.
I am hoping for good weather tomorrow because we have had a bit of bad luck with hitting the pool. If the normal FL afternoon rain was just rain it would be doable but there has been a pattern of thunder, lightening and torrential rain that eventually passes but always seems to be during scheduled pool time. lol

Have a great time Andre! I hope the weather cooperates for you!

I'd love to see pics of that river view from building 14. For some reason, I can't picture what that building faces except maybe the back of the food court? :confused3 I'm curious!

I believe there are tea bags available in the rooms. However, I am an expert regarding the Wal-Mart trip. lol

Wal-Mart is literally less than 10 minutes away on 535. It's a huge Wal-Mart and yes, you can hit it on your way from the airport. However, our family usually goes after we check-in and unload the car....and visit DTD for lunch (otherwise, I would buy food and more food and more food).

Hope this helps and have a great trip!!!! (I am living vicariously through you all since I don't go for over a year!)

Hi! Did you enjoy the Royal room? What's it worth the diff in price? We are currently booked in one, but, I keep thinking we should just book a preferred room.

:confused3

We will be at POR in one week :yay: and will be one night in a royal room and the rest of the trip in a preferred room so I'll let you know what we think of both. I've requested ground floor because I recently had foot surgery and have rented a ECV so I had it noted on my room request. I'm not worried because they've always been great when we've had someone injured. I am not doing online check in because I did not have a good experience using it before. I'd rather wait for a better room then take the first available.

Can't wait to see the new rooms!
