Here now checked in Saturday. 21 hour drive straight through! We were tired but excited to be here. I had sent a fax with requests for AB 14 Garden view facing the food court. She told me we were upgraded to meet the requests and received room 1415 which is first floor river view and less than a minute walk to Riverside Mill!!! We did have a preferred room booking.

This place is awesome! Kids have had a great time exploring the resort. Hard to believe but we still have not been into a pool. Which is really odd for my family. But I'm sure we'll get there today.

Thanks for all the great advice and information about POR! So far it's been great here.

you mentioned you requested garden view, I understand you payed for preferred but isn't garden view extra as well? or am I misunderstanding that?
sorry, first time at POR and I want to request but not sure what to request yet! when we booked room only, the only thing available for a family of 5 was AB preferred location...should I request a specific building? help

Got our Mickey Mail today....it says Port Orleans Riverside-PRKING.

What does the PRKING mean?

We paid for standard view if that helps.

Thanks. :o)

I'll take a guess at Preferred Room, King? Am I close?

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

We just paid for standard view...King is a bookable category right? And its more expensive. So, no...we did not pay for a king.

Did you pay for a preferred room? Because if not, I'm thinkin maybe it's actually short for PARKING as in Parking Lot view as it is a standard room you booked. I think mine had something that definetly looked like Garden after it, which is what we booked.

Do the carriage rides take walk ups or do you have to reserve in advance?

Is it likely that the rides would be available for walk ups or are they usually booked?

Thanks.

We booked garden view and our Mickey Mail says PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE-GARDEN. So I'm guessing PRKING is short for standard view. Looks like even Disney is using the parking lot view that I came up with in the old thread. LOL

It is; we had that last year.

A Preferred Location booking gets you a room in buildings 14, 15, 18 or 27, and it could be either a garden or a standard view.

If you get a Water or River view in those buildings, then technically you've been upgraded (which does sometimes happen). You shouldn't be given a King Bed room though, unless you've specifically book that category (and then you wouldn't be guaranteed a preferred location).

August 1- POR Roll Call!!! I'll be there August 16-25.

We'll be there August 14-22. We stayed at Port Orleans FQ in 1997 for our honeymoon. Am I totally remembering wrong, or could you take the water taxi's to theme parks and not just to Pleasure Island, er, I mean Downtown Disney?

Sorry, you are remembering wrong, the water taxi from Port Orleans only goes to DTD.

Sorry, double post.

I meant, did the water taxis go to more places 15 years ago? I thought I remembered being able to go by boat to Epcot Center.

No, the Sassagoula River has never gone to Epcot. There is a different waterway between Epcot and the Studios, which takes in the Yacht/Beach Clubs, Boardwalk and Swan/Dolphin, but that doesn't connect with the Downtown Disney area.

I have to send out my care package this week. Is the address in the packages sticky correct? Also, is one week out enough time for the package to arrive? I'll be sending it through UPS.

Yes, the info provided in the sticky is correct. I would send it as soon as possible.

Hi I've read most of this thread thank you for all of the information. Can anyone tell me if there larger than single serve containers of milk in the gift shop? How about water can you buy a 6 of 12 pack at one of the gift shops?

I understand the coffee makers have pods, anyone know the brand? I would like to bring some extras. Thanks!
