We are staying in Port Orleans River side in january/February 2013 we have booked a royal guest room and have requested Oak manor. I have a few questions

1. Will it be really busy due maradi gras?

2. What are the buses like? The bus stop looks quiet far from oak manor! :-/

3. where are the travel cots/pack and plays like? Where is best to put them?

1. It will only be really busy if Mardi Gras and President's Day fall at the same time. President's Day is a federal/state holiday and for people in the south, they also get a break for Mardi Gras.

2. There is a bus loop, with a main spot at the main building that will be quite busy in the early morning and in the late evening. There are three perimeter bus stops nicely located to each section.

Also, POFQ and POR do share buses at busy times; but POFQ is the first stop usually and only has one stop. The nice part about POR, compared to the other mod resorts, is that you walk on a sidewalk first at the perimeter bus stops and then you are under the covering of the aisleways to the rooms. In CBR, for example, you walk across the parking lot the entire time.

3. The Mousekeepers will place the pak n' play close to the table and chairs, but if you wish the child to have some quiet, you can move it into the dressing area at the sinks and close the curtain.

Thank you so much didn't expect such a quick reply, maradi gras is the 12th I think and presidents day is the 18th so it won't be too bad? I just wondered if people who were there for maradi gras went to PO for the theming?

What is the boat like to DTD? How long does it take?

Again thank you

The water taxi to and from DTD begins at 11 am and runs until 11 pm each night. The last trip leaves at 11 pm from DTD and docks at POR. The water taxis runs every 20 minutes until 4 pm and every 10 minutes after that. After that, you can take the bus until 2 am.

The trip is POR, POFQ, DTD, POFQ and POR. You cannot do a round trip; you have to exit and stand in line.

You can also transfer from the Marketplace stop, where the POR water taxi docks and transfer to other parts of DTD and other resorts like SSR/THV and OKW. Both SSR and OKW have wonderful restaurants.

Another great perk is if you end the day at a resort, such as a nice meal. Take the DTD bus back from any resort to the resort hub; you can see the RFC sign from it. A short walk or long leisurely stroll, and you never wait long for the water taxi to take you back to POR in time to hit the lounge and Yee-hah Bob and the wonderful staff, Todd, Holly, and John.

Yeah we have stayed at SSR twice (we were hoping to stay there again but just don't think we have the funds this time) and have used the DTD buses to get to the other resorts.

Thank you so much for your help the mansions are just so beautiful and the grounds I'm really looking forward to staying here!

I called WDW for an AAA rate for POR GV room (then switched to FQ GV) and paid $1588 (incl tax) for 10 nights in January. I just went on WDW site to price without discount, and it's def 20%

Our AAA discount came out to 10% less than Disney current rack rate on their site; probably because we're arriving during peak season (end of Pres Week). Wish it could be 20% - will keep an eye out for promos!

We are leaving in 5 days for our first stay at POR. We have a Royal Room for 3 days before we head off to OKW. The kids are in the dark about this whole trip, they will find out that morning that we are going. They'll find out we are flying when we arrive at the airport (we usually drive).

Port Orleans.org has been a great help, what a wonderful site. I wish the other resorts had that. :thumbsup2 Our son is doing the Bayou Pirate Adventure next Thursday, something I did not know about until reading the Port Orleans.org website.

Can't wait to explore the POR and PORFQ!!

Please tell us about the Pirate Adventure when you get back. I have it scheduled for my twins next month.

How big are the Murphy beds? They almost look like crib sized mattresses to me in the photos. Can a child who is almost five feet tall and around a 100 pounds sleep comfortably in them? I saw someone posted that they had an air mattress in the room. Is that allowed?

I've seen a pic somewhere of TWO children under the age of 10 sprawling on it. It's bigger than it looks. I'd say halfway between a crib and a twin. But I have not been there personally to measure it.

Oh, I found a pic! http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=44738022&postcount=606

ETA: I googled Port Orleans Riverside Murphy bed and clicked on "images" and there were many pics from different angles.

I would love to hear about the Bayou Pirate Adventure when you get back. I am thinking about booking it in November when we are there. My DS will be 10 and my DD will be 7, so I think this may be the last chance we have for them to do it before my son is too old.

It sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned! :)

This is my first post! I've been lurking for months now but since I finally booked today I might as well start posting!

I am booked for May 2013 in a Royal Guest Room! Has anyone ever stayed in these rooms before? What was your experience?

Do the POR rooms have a freezer in the refrigerator? I've never stayed in a Moderate before, when we used to rent the mini refrigerators at the All Stars, they had a small freezer in the upper corner that we could freeze a bottle of water or two each night. I was wondering if the POR refrigerators had this too, or if they are just refrigerators.
