We won't be there for two weeks but I was just thinking we will have extra water at the end. I never thought to post here to offer it to someone! Good idea. If you are checking in on the 22nd at POR, be looking for a post from me!

I am so grateful for all the info on this board. My bf and I booked a very last minute trip to WDW leaving tomorrow, and the last month I've been frantically reading and absorbing all that I can. This thread has been especially helpful and we're so looking fwd to staying at POR

This time of year, the forecast is always for "chance of thunderstorms" every day. That doesn't mean guaranteed rain. You can expect a possible shower any given day that might last from 15 to 45 minutes. Then it's magically sunny again. If you're in a park, just duck into somewhere indoors. Showers usually pass quickly. Good news is that many people leave the parks when it starts to rain making lines much shorter when the rain stops.

For the period we were there (last week and early this week), the most it actually rained was this past Monday morning where it rained hard the entire morning, but even then it cleared up around noon. Otherwise it was a short shower randomly on a few afternoons the rest of the trip.

Pools close if they detect thunder/lightning. So it could be raining and the pools could still be open. We saw people swimming in light rain last week at POFQ.

Have a great time.

Thank You VERY MUCH!

It makes me so happy to think I will be there tomorrow @ this time.. The time is KILLING me...

I am glad to hear that it may rain for alittle bit, then stop..

I was looking at the weather channel, and the whole state of florida is covered under rain, on a couple of days we are there. I know how it goes though.. we were supposed to get anywhere from 2-6 inches of rain from issac, and we havent even got an inch, and that was forecast last night!

Thank you

My Mickey mail came today!!! Didn't realize my Magical express stuff was part of it too. So excited!!!!!!

YAY tomorrow this time we will be flying to WDW.:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I have a quick question? Do they close the pools down every time it rains or just if it is thunderstorms?

It looks like my whole 11 days will be raiiiiinnnnnyyyy for the most part...

Anyone care to give ideas what it is like in real life, vs. weather channel?

30%,40%,60%... Etc.

Hoping for some dryness.. Or me and 3 kiddos's will BE soaked! I don't mind occasional showers at all, but when 2 are in strollers and little it is for sure a challenge.

We were there in the middle of August of this year. We had mid day rains everyday (just happened to be our "scheduled" swim time too) and the only time they shut the main pool down was when there were lightning strikes. We happened to be IN the pool during one of them and you never saw us move so fast in our life. The lifeguards had board games and the kids coordinators that had been playing games with the kids gave out the prizes in the snack bar area. They didn't seem to close it though for thunder, just the lightning. It was re-opened when the storm passed.

We are headed to POR in December, free dining, for our 5th anniversary and we can't wait ( we honeymooned at WL). I had initially wanted to book king bed but waited too long and it was gone so the next cheapest option was water view. We'd like to be close to the main building/food court but also pool and bus stop-who doesn't? Looking at the map, I would guess water view means we won't be too far from the main building, with the water going around the way it does? Really have no preference as far as mansions or AB, so any building requests I should have?

Hi. I have stayed at POR twice. before (prior to new renovations). I just love the whole grounds, pool, decent food, great staff. Por has 4 bus stops so be patient and allow extra time for any ADRs. South depot is the first bus stop then 3 more stops before you exit por. Love the water taxi service to downtown disney area also. We never drive and take full advantage if transportation. Mind you i dont have kids in tow.
Enjoy the resort. I'll be there in Jan 2013!!

We have a breakfast ADR at Ohana and it's my understanding that I need to take a bus to MK then a bus Poly to get to Ohana. How much time should I give for that? Hour and a half? There are 5 of us ( 2 children) so I'm avoiding a taxi.

U will need to take a bus to MK then jump onto the monorail it will take u to poly, I have never stayed at POR but we did movies last yr and left at least an hr before each ADR and was late constantly the bus system was so poor, I hope POR is better so on the save side give urself at least an hr

Disney recommends at least 90 minutes for travel time. You may not have given yourself enough time.

What time of year? We were told 90 minutes early over and over but the first time we did that, we ended up at Chef Mickey an hour early for our reservations! Thankfully, they sat us right away. But we had good luck with buses.

Congratulations... See it did show up now you can de-stress about that now.

Wow that is quite a hustle in the morning. What time is your res? The only way I can see that unfolding is either the way you suggested. Or once you got to MK you took either the boat over to poly or maybe even the monorail. The bus to poly takes you to other stops first like Contemporary and Grand Floridian, not sure about the order. But I know it might not be in your favor, I would go with the boat over to the poly. Its first stop is GF then Poly but it only docks for a few minutes. Monorail would take you to Contemp, then Ticket Transit Center, then Poly.

Hope this helps.

I was so relieved to get the Mickey Mail. I suppose I was a bit impatient. ;) my first time on property and using the Express and I'm just nervous about everything. lol

ADR is 9:20am. Do I need to go INTO mk to get to the boat? Or are all these ways from the outside? I didn't know what else might slow us up.

*Sorry for the multiple posts. Not sure how to double quote on my phone.

We did this in August. We drove from POR to Poly for breakfast so I can't help with the trip there but we did leave the car at Poly for a few hrs and took the monorail to MK from there and then the boat back from MK and the monorail was sooooo much faster so my advice would be to take the bus to MK and then the monorail to Poly.

As soon as you get off the busses walk like you were going to go into the park but don't. Go to the left and you'll see the boats down to the left directly in front of the MK entrance. Look for the dock with the grand floridian and poly listed on the sign. Should be the dock closest to the monorail. But no you will not have to go into the park.
