***All repeat all royal rooms have queen beds, no matter what view!

I am sorry I should have clarified that better. all the royal rooms have the queen beds no matter the view:worship:.

When I said garden view I should have stated other than the royal rooms- sorry :thumbsup2

I was just so happy to see that things are looking back on schedule. My DD5 is going to be soooooo surprised when she see the room. My son on the other hand DS18 months mostly likely will have no idea of the difference in the room:banana:

Thats a good thing your son is so young. We are doing the RR for my daughters 16th and a whole Princess theme. My DS who is 6 has already started complaining about it and we are not even there yet. :lmao:

16 and 17 are the closest AB buildings to the main facilities area that aren't classed as 'Preferred' status. So far, the refurbished buildings are 14 (which is Preferred status) and 36, 37, 38 (which are quite far away from the main building). Have a look at the map and the FAQ post at the beginning of this thread for more info.

Andre

Just wondering exactly how far 36,37 & 38 are from the main area? 38 didn't look too bad on the map.

38 isn't too bad, but they are by no means the closest buildings. Google Earth's ruler function is a great way to work out distances along a pathway by the way (use the 'Path' rather than 'Line' function). I worked out the furthest walks to/from the food court at POR were about 500 yards I seem to recall.

Do the preferred rooms have refrigerators and microwaves? I was wondering if it would be possible to reheat leftovers brought back to the room. My 11 year old will be eating from the adult menu but I'm sure she won't be able to finish a meal.

Also, do the quick service counters offer to go containers?

There are fridges, but no microwaves.

All mods have dorm sized refrigerators in the room.

The food courts have microwaves. They also do offer to-go containers, as well as paper bags to carry it back to the room.

I don't suppose anyone has seen any photos of AB finished? I'm trying to sell DP and mom on POR this winter, but all I can find is the old photos which they don't like. We'd need a preferred building this time which means AB even if I personally find the mansions prettier :-/

They do not have microwaves, but we have been able to get one there in the past when requested, at no charge. I dont know if that has changed, but we did that a few times around 2-3 years ago.

If you cant get a microwave, they have them down at the food court.

The QS restaurants can usually give you something to put left overs in.

See http://www.portorleans.org/gallery-guest-SurlyMermaid.php for more, but here are a couple:

I've heard you can request Microwaves at CSR on a first come, serve basis. Can you at POR? Love to have a microwave for reheating stuff.:cool1:

You can request microwaves at POR, but there are very few and they are on a first come, first served basis.

It is almost impossible to get one if they are busy that week.

ok dont shoot me ok but can you tell me which non royal buildings have queens?

<bang> :) :)

Currently, Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace in the mansions, plus Alligator Bayou 14, 36, 37 and 38.

I'm trying to keep the FAQ post at the start of this thread up to date as often as possible (please let me know if I've missed anything folks!) and there is also a detailed summary of the current and forthcoming refurbishment dates (as best I can determine them) at the top of http://www.portorleans.org/rehab.php.

I booked in November when the room description said queen beds, I have made two polite calls since then expressing my concern with the change, and each time I am given the runaround that the queen is just a request, not guaranteed. This is pure nastiness on Disney's part. I just got off the phone with them now, and said I am ready to cancel the trip (again, very politely) and they said they were ready to take the cancellation. I am now soured on this trip.

Follow up today ......
I wrote an email to guest communications saturday and got a call back today! She reiterated that my garden view booking (back in November during the 2 month period showing a description of two queen beds) is just a request and that they won't guarantee it! She also said that even when the renovation is done that not all rooms at pors will have queens. I don't think she is right she mentioned pirate and royal rooms with fulls. There is so much misinformation going on! It's crazy. It's like Seinfeld... They know how to take the reservation they just don't know how to keep it!
She said she would check around the other resorts with queens to see if they can move me. Stay tuned...

I think I 'm reading the chart correctly by seeing that from now through March, AB has all the refurbs it's going to get. They are now working on the RR. Is that correct? Are there any Public areas getting refurbs??
