Yeah I watch this thread religiously. Congrats. Don't for get to add your ticker or change it. Dont go into the poly thread talking about your a transplant or anything over there, they are still calming down from a outburst over all these por guests coming to Poly. So be careful. ;)

You will all still be very welcome here anyway - even if you might have to wear dark glasses when in the other threads (as I found out too!) :)

And of course there's nothing to stop you visiting POR during your stay. Take a trip to Downtown Disney, and then get on one of the free water taxi ferry boats which run from the dock right next to the Rainforest Cafe. It's a lovely 20 minute boat ride to POFQ (first stop) and POR (second stop). Have a wander around and see the sights and get a snack, etc. Maybe even pop along to the River Roost lounge one evening (Weds-Sat) and see "Ye Haa" Bob's show?

Afterwards, just get the ferry back - or catch a bus from the front of either of the Port Orleans resorts back to the Magic Kingdom, and then monorail or boat back to the Poly/GF.

I hope everyone has a great time wherever they are staying anyway.

Andre

Ok, I was a long time POR fan & then tried the Poly and loved it. Still love both resorts but am always saving my pennies to see if I can get to the Poly (and of course, with the discounts out there!) I follow both threads but don't have much to contribute on POR because it has been a long time since my last visit. Frankly, it feels 'cold' over here lately like I'm not wanted. And when I give answers to all the Poly questions and feedback, everyone skips right over that friendliness. I haven't gotten into whatever mess everyone is so worked up about yet am condemned. So before you start generalizing about people, think about the dozens of other people that are trying to help. It doesn't feel so good when someone generalized about you so why would you do it back?

Well I am sorry to see that the past event seems like it did effect you. I know you didn't, and you are more than welcome to come in here and post feed back, help with questions if you have the knowledge or resources. I am no mad at anyone or sore. So please don't think it is on purpose. About the generalizing issue I thought I had found all of my posts and modded them to reflect I am deeply sorry and I felt like I was being attacked as well. When they in fact were generalizing also. But it is over I am sorry you felt a victim. We all were. I am sorry for you as well. On the behalf of myself and family I offer you and yours as well as the rest of the POLY fans. My apologies and deepest sympathies for this whole thing. This is the last I hope to see of it. Because it does need to remain in the past and forgotten.

Joining the POR thread. We were going to a split AOA/CBR trip in 2013 but DH saw pics of POR and that changed his mind. Can't wait to spend time here. :)

Congrats, I have never done a split stay, I see more guests doing it.

I was very concerned that you felt your postings were being ignored or not wanted here, which I really hope is not the case. I actually tried to find anything that could have been construed that way, but as you say, you haven't actually posted to any of the Port Orleans FAQ threads for at least as far back as the DIS will let me search (April last year). Given that, I'm genuinely wondering why you feel your input would be unwelcome here? Please do feel free to drop in with your ideas and suggestions any time you like.

I don't recall anyone "generalising" about me anywhere recently, I may have missed that though. In my earlier post here, I was referring to one somewhat admonishing and inaccurate comment in another thread which was specifically targeted at me regarding a humorous post I had made (which I then withdrew in order to avoid any further possible misunderstandings in that thread). I thought it might be best to just lurk for a while after that reaction.

Anyway, let's not start a whole new round of off-topic stuff - we're all here to try to help each other enjoy Disney World aren't we? No matter what resort we might be staying at. (I love the Poly too by the way; even though it's been out of my budget to stay there, we always eat at least once at Kona Cafe, have a Lapu Lapu and do some shopping at the store)

I have to say I have been lurking for the last 2 weeks and have been living vicariously through all this pixie dust upgrading!:goodvibes

Congrats to all, in paticular to:cheer2: MsDeVil and Stinkerbellysmom:cheer2: (may have not got that spelling quite right, please forgive:rolleyes1) The waiting would have killed this obsessive planner, so I totally could feel your pain in the not knowing!:upsidedow

Love my POR this is our 4th trip, it is a BEAUTIFUL resort and my kids call it home. :thumbsup2

However, there is nothing like the POLY at night and watching wishes in a hammok with your kiddos in their jammies with a Dole Whip in your hand, it is simply magical and you can even see Wishes while you are in the pool ah "sigh" (can get this at the resort C/S)! I have more pictures of my feet in those POLY hammoks:laughing:

I kind of laughed as the drama unfolded, as all of you got the backlash in other forums, I kind of predicted this in my head:rolleyes1 However, you are all really lucky and I have been rooting for you all along the way.

It was exciting popcorn::, and yes, I am rather pathetic in how much I was emotionally involved with y'all :lovestruc. However, I know how much of Dream the Poly or GF can be when you can not really afford it for your family.:dance3:

Andre and Venom you have been brilliant through it all;)

P.S. Andre, love your sight! Feel like I know a celebrity now:lmao: just kind of kidding:rolleyes1

I am still a couple of hunderd days away from home, so thanks for brightening up a dreary cold N.E. winter.

Now we may continue with our original programming:rotfl:

LOL, I don't think I've ever been called a celebrity before. Many thanks for the kind words about the website too.

The boat is officially called a water taxi; there are many different modes of water transportation at Disney which have different names to distinguish them.

Here is how they run.

POR/POFQ/DTD - drops off at Marketplace
DTD/SSR/THV - leaves from Marketplace
Marketplace/Westside - transfer between the two
Westside/OKW - leaves from Westside

Here are some suggestions:

There is a fabulous resturant with an outdoor patio at SSR called the Turf Club.
There is also a fabulous restaurant at OKW called Olivia's.

Both are a walk-up from the boat dock. You have several transfer from POR/POFQ to OKW, but if you have the time it is a wonderful leisurely ride.

Two of the best well-kept secrets at Disney.

I also love going over to DTD and going to EOS for dinner and then grab a sundae at Ghiradelli's.

This is great info. Thanks!!! :flower3:

:rotfl2: we must have been talking to the same CM. She argued with me that Royal rooms were not in Parterre Place or Oak Manor, and standard rooms were ONLY in Magnolia Bend

LOL.
I called back and spoke to someone else after reaffirming that I was right and he was clueless too. I figure I'll call back closer to the date.

LOL it was okay - she also insisted that they increased the value of the regular dining plan by bumping it up to 2 snacks a day in 2012. She also forgot to add ME to our reservation (and our reservation went to some old email address that was completely different from what I gave her. But at least aside from not adding ME the reservation was at least correct.)

Would I be better to request a 2nd or 3rd floor room? Or just Oak manor closest to the lobby?

We stayed at the Poly for a week in 2009. It was beautiful!! However, then we stayed at POR in 2010 for 2 nights as an add on to a trip to Sanibel Island. We absolutely fell in love with POR!! We took a boat ride to DTD one night, simply to ride the boat there and back. It was a very quiet, peaceful resort that we will be returning to for another week in July. We are counting the days until our RGR stay. So those of you who are going to another resort, enjoy your stay. However, I know that I would be disappointed in not being able to stay in the RGR.

popcorn:: I'm waiting for responses for this! I have the same questions for when I go in July. Oak m anor close to lobby or close to bus stop. Is there a bus stop near the lobby?

It's been a couple years since my last stay and I was wondering what drinks they had available at the fill station at the food court. My DD11 hates fizzy drinks. They used to have a sports drink. Hoping it's still there.

Thanks

It's nice to hear all the great comments of those following along... I almost feel like we are family after what we went through the past few weeks. I am happy many of you will be together at the Poly. I enjoyed the drama and all the help you guy gave!

Thanks! I'm definitely less stressed knowing it's all settled. The packing has now started pretty seriously, and picked up some new items for the room today. Nothing excites a planner as much as a pop-up hamper & over the door organizer, and finding out you still have an unopened package of moleskin in your toiletries bag :rotfl:

Agreed! Knowing others were in the same position as us was both a blessing & a curse. Everyone was very supportive, and I appreciate it!

Andre & Venom - thanks for holding the fort down here :thumbsup2

Nothing makes me happier than finding a new tide stick or 2/1. ponchos:lmao:

Yes, people I believe it is clear...I am truly sick:dance3:

Andre answered this a number of pages back (page 21 in fact).

I can! :) For all the menus at the Riverside Mill, check out http://www.portorleans.org/riversidemill.php.

Here's what's in the soda fountains though:

So yes, you can get Lemonde (still) and Sprite (fizzy), plus lots of other drinks.
