Can someone direct me to a thread of POR pictures? There seems to be a picture thread for all the other resorts, but for the life of me I cannot find one for Riverside.

Thanks!!!!!!!

Hey everyone! Princess had an AWESOME day today. She is feeling much better. We spent the day at AK today. Hubster is on the phone while watching princess at the playground booking our trip next year.

We missed alot in the parks but we definitely had a great time. I've been taking notes so I know what to do and not do for next year. Plus we are taking my mother in law too to kinda help us out.

We are gonna go in Feb. mainly because its rather warm...mid to high 80's. Not really complaining but Princess & I do not do well in the heat.

My only complaint is that my feet hurt so damn bad....I mean I knew people said to be prepared but holy hell lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow we are going back to MK to do some of the things we missed and to watch the electric parade & the fireworks.

Didnt get a chance to see yeehaw bob and that makes me kinda sad. I honestly cant say enough good about this resort. We talked to some people who are in the RGRs & they say its well worth the money.

Well I'm off to soak my poor old achey body in the hot tub!

HunMcBunny,
Glad the princess is feeling better and you had a good day. I was feeling bad when she was sick after all the excitement you had over the trip, but YAY for booking for next year :thumbsup2

Kristie, I'm so glad to heare that your DD is feeling better in time to enjoy a few of the parks. Hope you have a great day tommorow at MK! Were you able to book next years trip on a a bounce back offer? What was the offer?

Hope your feet heal soon. When we went last year I had a blister on my toe that was so big it was actually bigger then the toe itself.

We are here at Por right now and love it!!! The bus service is awesome, we are in building 38 and it is about a 2 min walk to main pool and about the same time to the north depot bus stop... And that's with 3 kids. Love love this resort we are so happy we switched to stay here!!! Free dining is amazing way toooooo much food... Lol

We leave tomorrow!!!! Cant believe I am actually saying those words!!! Already checked in online and printed our boarding passes...tomorrow at this time we will be approaching the airport for landing!! :yay:

I will try and post while there....might be iffy as I am not taking my laptop and my phone is slow!

Finally! We arrive 4/11 which seems so close now....

I have pretty much decided that I won't be making a room request but will see what fate brings my way. I do think I will decline early check-in which I understand will give me a bit more flexibility if I need to request a change in room or building.
We have stayed in the mansions before and really liked them, but I think an AB room would be great fun as well.

Glad you're having a good time now that your little Princess is feeling better, and I hope your feet have benefited from a good soaking!

Sounds like we've got another convert. :) It might be worth asking about any bounce-back offers before you leave, but generally they don't go far enough ahead to make a booking for next year.

Ye Haa Bob plays at the River Roost Lounge on Wednesdays to Saturdays, finishing about midnight, so you could pop in for an hour after the fireworks tonight if your timing allows.

Kind of a crazy question, but does anyone know what the window coverings are in the royal rooms? Are they curtains and blinds or just curtains? I can't seem to find a photo of that. Thanks!!

They are wooden blinds with drapes over them. We just got back last week from POR and we loved staying in a Royal Room! :goodvibes

Got back last night. :sad1: It was a great first trip to WDW. Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. :grouphug: We had an awesome time.

Just a little about our experience at POR. Magical Express bus wait was short from the airport. It was cool having our luggage and groceries brought to our room. We booked a garden view room and requested the Magnolia Terrace. We got the Magnolia Terrace building! But I was a little disappointed in the location. It was the 3rd floor, back of building...parking lot side and a view of a tree blocking the parking lot. Not really what I would call garden view, but it was fine. The room was nice. The ice machine on the 3rd floor never worked. Other than those, no complaints. The walk to the pool and main lobby was a short walk across the bridge. We only ate breakfast twice there. It was a mad house but fine. We bought two of the disney mugs and filled them up as often as we could. We didn't have a dining plan and maybe next time that is something we will need to learn about. Expecially if we can get a free dining plan. :thumbsup2 We only took the boat the first evening to Downtown Disney. It's a nice ride. But our last night we took the bus to Downtown Disney. We usually left and got off out the East depot because it was closest to our building. The buses sometimes got crowded or was a little wait, but I don't think it was anything unusual or worth complaining. We went to the pool every afternoon at least for a few hours. My boys loved it and loved the slide. Sometimes it was hard finding an ideal place to lay down but someone was always leaving and you could grab their chairs. There was a lot we didn't do like the movie night or campfire. We would definitely come back to Port Orleans Riverside. I was a little confused with the Magical Express checkout and luggage procedure. They checked us in and 4 of our bags. But I didn't know that. So yesterday morning, I logged onto the airline website and checked in and paid for 2 checked bags. :surfweb: But it was $35 each. I thought that was weird. But it charged us that because they thought we already checked in four bags. Whatever, I have to call Delta and see if I can get refunded some money as we only had 2 bags checked. Thanks for sharing your experiences to help make our trip great! I'm sad we are back home, but thankful that my feet get a rest. :rotfl:

Oh one other thing. :( My son had a stuffed Mickey Mouse that he brought from home. It has movable arms and legs. He left it on a bench at the East Depot bus stop. Boo! Someone took it and didn't turn it in. So that makes me sad.

Welcome back kristie73 - glad to hear you had an awesome time!

The great thing about the first trip other than discovering the magic is it helps you plan your next trip much better. Our first trip was last september (ASMovies) and it was the best trip ever, but we were winging it. Our next trip (POR RGR December) will be even more awesome because I have a better idea of what to expect and how to plan it to our needs.

And yes, look into Dining - there is debate about its "worth" but if you can get free dining, then it doesn't get any better. We had FD last Sept and ate great meals at no cost, what a saver!

Hey there I just got on after feeling like we are going through Disney withdraws bad!!! Hows the little one?

So sad!!! There are no connecting Royal Rooms! :( My dd was so sad when I told her that we couldn't stay there. We are at POFQ in 2 standard rooms. Someone please talk it up to me because I am so sad I couldn't get the room/ resort I wanted. :(

I know connecting rooms has its perks, but I mean the doors are typically close to each other if you get a pair of rooms where the doors share the same alcove. You'd be able to hop between them in a hurry if needed. But the rooms are completely worth moving up to. So just something to consider.

It would mean my husband and I would be in separate rooms. I just don't think it would feel much like a vacation if our family was broken up in the hotel room :( We have too many kids. Haha. My bad. Lol. Just so depressed than there aren't any connecting rooms!! She actually said there weren't any in Alligator Bayou either. The only connecting ones were in building 24 or in POFQ. :( Depressing. DD would have loved it for her birthday.
