Port Orleans Riverside during refurb - help!

I humbly bow to all of you experts! The last time I was here was about 5 years ago when I was planning our last trip. This board was an invaluable tool to me and I was obsessed and seemed to recover until now - I am planning a surprise birthday trip for my 8 year old in March and the obsession returns....I was thinking about the Port Orleans Riverside but am wondering how the refurbishing and closing of the other Port Orleans resort will affect things like ability to be near to a restaurant,etc. I don't know anything about these resorts. Last time we stayed at Yacht and Beach Resort - beautiful and wonderful - unfortunately the whole family got SICK and our 7 day vacation was a sad disaster. Anyway, in hopes of making up for that - here I go again..... Anyone have thoughts on staying at POR vs offsite at HIFS? I really would like to go to universal for one day and we will only be there 4 days total???? Thanks for all of your wisdom

Funny, we were almost going to stay at HIFS due to a great rate I got w/ my ent. card, but once again, I couldn't pull myself away from POR. They have a large food court, with decent prices AND food, also a restaurant that serves b/l/d. The landscaping and theming are wonderful and where ever you stay in this place, you will always fing a quiet pool close by (w/ laundry facilities) I love it there. Aligator Bayou, here come the Wilhide's.....AGAIN! btw, sorry you all got sick last time, what a bummer, try to keep yourselves healthy...don't toouch anybody for the next 2 months!!
