Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter Room Request Fax Thread

We arrive Tuesday the 11th and I just sent our fax early this morning(Thursday). I am hopeful that is plenty of time~pretty much just reiterated the requests I made on my reservation with an explanation as to why I was making those requests!

So if you are arriving on the 10th, I would think you could still send a fax today:) Worth a try as you have nothing to loose!

Is it possible to request a toaster in these rooms?

My other half has dairy, gluten and some other intolerance/allergies so she is sometime skeptical of jamming her specific bread into communal toasters when I told her about the ones available at the self serve eateries... I believe I read it's possible as a request earlier in the thread, but still am not sure about it?

Are her allergies something we should be making note of on her profile or somewhere? I downloaded an app which is helps us find places within the park for her to eat, but we are planning on getting some groceries ordered so she has some staples for the morning and night when we are near the room, thus the need for a toaster.

I think I need to put a countdown in my signature I'm so excited...!

Yes you can request toasters and I would definitely put that in the fax. But as I just got home I see I have a certain email from you and I will be checking it shortly after I eat dinner.

Okay, we arrive on a Thursday. If I send a fax on Saturday morning early, will they get to it before their days off ( I think I read Sunday and Monday)? Is it okay to list requests on both ressie and send a fax and should the request be exactly the same? Thank you!

Yeah as long as they don't conflict each other.

Is this really necessary? I have always indicated my building request when I made my reservation. Then I repeated when I was checking in. Never an issue

We do not check in until Jan. 1 but I am trying to get all of my "ducks in a row" so to speak... My daughter has spine & leg defects so when I called to make our reservation, I requested Alligator Bayou because though we are a family of 4, my daughter is more comfortable in her own bed (so the fold down bed would be perfect for her) and a building as close as possible to the lobby/food area as I am trying to shorten any walking distances where I can. I have since read here on the DISboards that unless you are a party of 5, you will not be put in the AB rooms...is this true?

If I specify in my fax why we would like the AB room would that help? Should I also call and explain? And lastly, if we arrive on Thursday Jan. 1, what day should I send my fax?

I'm so sorry for all of the questions but the last time we were at WDW (first family trip there :) ) my daughter was very sick so though I usually don't make any special requests, I am trying to make this trip as easy for her as possible. Thanks in advance for any advice - it is much appreciated! :goodvibes

Venom,

A somewhat related question for you...

I have 2 rooms on 1 reservation at POR for March. It's for 2 adults and 4 kids, and connecting was requested. In MDE, it somewhat randomly lists 3 people in each room. I was curious if everyone's magic bands would open both rooms (since it is 1 reservation), or only the room that they were randomly assigned to?

Thanks! :goodvibes

No not really. But sometimes the notes on reservation go overlooked. This can be peace of mind for them, especially for the reply below where they have medical needs to be addressed and taken into consideration.

You can have the AB area even with just three. So I know that is not true about it being a 5 only room. I would state that you are trying to get a room as close as possible to the main building for those purposes and also state the AB area. Perhaps Building 14, that is the closest you get. Contact me through PM if you need further medical special requirements and I will see what we can do.

They should access both rooms, but if you leave the connecting doors open or unlocked you should be able to pass through to the other room. Secondly the three in each room is so that it balances it out. If you want them to they can shift the count if it is necessary to put four in one room etc. But one adult has to be in each room according to the system since there is four kids total. That doesn't mean you have to sleep that way.

Thanks, I was just curious how the bands would work. I got the logistics on the inside ok. Appreciate your help! Have a great day! :goodvibes

Venom - Thank you for your quick reply! I will request a close building in the AB section in the fax and state our reasons for request. For a Thursday arrival should I send it on Friday or Saturday?

We do not need a wheelchair accessible room - she prefers to walk as much as possible and will only use a wheelchair in the parks if she is in extreme discomfort - we are aware that there are folks out there who are even worse off than she is and need those accommodations more than we do. Your offer of help is greatly appreciated though and it is comforting to know that I can reach out to you if need be. :)

We are so excited to be staying at POR and my daughter is especially excited to try out fishing for the first time!

Send it either Friday or Saturday in the morning if possible. State that you "do not" need a wheelchair room, that way they don't give you that room and take it from another guest that is potentially in need of it.

We're arriving at CBR next Friday 11/14. Planning on sending my fax Monday. Anyone think this is too late/too early? I read this is their "day off" so I would be better doing it on Tuesday or Wednesday? Tuesday is Veteran's Day which is a holiday, wasn't sure if that affects anything. Thanks!

Send it Saturday you will be fine. It wont melt the polar caps of the world to send it then.

I just found this thread and wanted to thank Venom. We will be checking into POR on December 6 and I will definitely be using the things mentioned on here for our little requests.:)

Thank you, Venom, for all your advice! We used your fax template and will be sending it in tomorrow for our 11/13 arrival at POR. I will be sending it to the fax number from the first page of the thread so I hope that is still correct! Fingers crossed for a little pixie dust--seems like a few DISers have had some great luck as of late! :)

The reason I do it, is just basic math. We normally request a building, followed by a floor and then a corner room or close to bridge at POR. We have been to POR/POFQ 9 times. The first 5 times we did not know about faxing in a request and once we got 2 out of 3, once we got one of the three, 2 other times we were in the area of our Bldg request and once it was not even close. The last 4 times with faxes twice we got all 3 and the other two times we got 2 out of the 3 requests. But the bottom line is, it cannot hurt:)
