Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter Room Request Fax Thread

I am planning to fax a request in for our POFQ stay in the next couple days for our stay starting on Sun 8/31. Is there a best time since we are going into a holiday weekend? I was thinking this Monday.

I noticed on our online check-in that all 4 options are marked(kind of grayed out as well) and I am unable to un-check them. So the site has ground, 2nd, corner AND near transportation.

Will this mess with our faxed requests? If I call can the general res cm's undo them?

If you call they can undo them, yes. I normally just send a fax in and leave it at that. But make sure you clearly mention most important requests up front.

What are the benefits to doing online check in vs checking in day of arrival? We are at the 60 day mark and are able to check in now if wanted....we will still do the fax request 5-7days prior to arrival. Thanks

Honestly sometimes it can help, but other times it doesn't. It all depends on what time you check in at. If it is during peak check in times it can be beneficial to do online check in. But if you say check in later in the evening, or semi early in the morning then you shouldn't need to. Just from my experience and first hand experiences.

So we will be arriving at MCO at 119. I am guessing that we will be at POR-R around 3pm. Sounds like I should "pre check in"?

Then we just get our bands and info packages when we get there, is there a shorter line for those who have prechecked in?

You should get your bands mailed you before you leave to head to Disney. Yeah you can go ahead and do check in. Just don't make any conflicting requests that you will have in your fax. When you get there the only thing they will have is your packet with room number already assembled.

We are in Canada so we don't get the stuff mailed out to us :O(

We wanted/need rooms close together, and especially for my mum we need convenience to bus and to main area/food area....and preference is Magnolia. I am going to put all that on the fax request, and will do same on online check in if possible. Thank you

We just got back from French Quarter on Saturday. I had sent in a fax requesting Building 5, top floor, corner room as we had paid for a pool view room. We were given a 2nd floor room in Building 5. I asked if we could be given top floor because my son is a light sleeper. There were none available so I asked if I could switch rooms later on in the trip and was told I should call in the morning and ask. About 5 mins after I left the check-in counter I received a phone call and we were offered top floor, corner room, building 5, river view! :cool1: I could not have asked for a better room! The view was beautiful and the location was excellent!! We cannot wait to go back next year.

I have what might be a strange question - we are arriving at POR on Sept 21st and my sister's family is travelling with us, as well. Our reservations are linked (we're sharing a Memory Maker, among other things), but we actually want to be in separate areas (she has 2 boys and prefers Alligator Bayou, and we have two young daughters and would prefer the mansion section - more princess-y :)). I've been reading that when your reservations are linked, that they will try to place your rooms as close together as possible. Should I call (or mention in my fax next week) and request to not be placed in the same area? Or if my sister calls and requests AB and I call and request Magnolia Bend, will that be enough?
Hope this makes sense - not sure what to do. :confused3 Thank you!

PeaMuff:

Unless your sister is a party of 5, she may not be put in AB - even if she requests it. If you want to make a request, I would add it to your reservation. I've had multiple cast members tell me that they don't always have the time to review faxes.

Well there may be a way to send the fax and just ask to be spaced a little ways away, perhaps in different buildings. If you fax it is possible to achieve that.

There is of course no guarantee that a request will be met (or blocked out in advance, as they may leave very general requests to the Ready Room system) but I can assure you that at Port Orleans faxed requests ARE all read. I know the Room Assignment Manager there, and he has told me directly that he personally looks at as many as he can, and his team will review faxes that come in when he's not in the office.

Thank you! I called and requested to be put in the Magnolia Bend section, and will make the same request when I send in my fax next Monday. My sister will call and make her request separately.
I appreciate the help very much! :)

I would suggest sending one fax (for the first party to arrive, if there is any difference in your dates) rather than two. Explain that although your two reservations are linked (and give them the details of both bookings) you do want to be in different sections.

If you want to at least be nearby, it's quite a short walk from AB building 38 over to Acadian House, so that might be a nice way to request it.

Sent my fax this afternoon for our room and for my parents room! So excited to hit the "send" button, can't believe our trip is just 5 days away now. We've been counting down to this for over a year!

Thanks for the great thread and all of the tips. I will let you all know if we received any of our requests

I am traveling with a large group, my family and father in one room and my aunt and her family in another. We are staying at POR, my aunt just had heart surgery and will still be recovering, on medication etc when we arrive. I had called and requested that she be in a room close to parking lots, lobby etc and we put on the original reservation that we would like to be in adjoining rooms. Would it be beneficial for me to send a fax a week ahead of time as well?

I do recommend this for this particular situation. Make sure to include your reservation in the fax then mention what other room's reservation you want a connecting room with. They will try their hardest to achieve this for you.

PS I am 24 years out from my open heart surgery so I wish the best for your aunt!

Hello!

On Friday, the 12th, I booked a trip to POR for my DS5 (a surprise for him!) arriving on the 27th!:banana: We will be celebrating my bday (Oct 1) and his bday (was in late August). :cake:

I would like to send in a few room requests, specifically for a building located near the main building and on the first floor, if we do not have an elevator. Can anyone offer me suggestions for buildings, or even better, specific room numbers? View isn't all that important to me, but of course anything other than the parking lot would be great!

Is today (10 days out) too early to send in my request?

Any and all suggestions/help would be wonderful! Thanks!! :thanks:

Joyce
