We are a family of 5 and I was told via a Disney chat that as long as I book a non-Royal Room, that there will be a pull-down bed. Have trouble believing this since there doesn't appear to be one in any photo. Any insight? My daughter is considered "infant" but she will be just shy of 2 and big for her age, so a pack n play is not an option. We're trying to save money this trip, so don't want to have to pay for Deluxe. THANKS!

Request a room in the Alligator Bayou section, they have 2 queen beds and a pull down Murphy style bed.

All the Alligator Bayou rooms have the pull down beds. I think if you have 5 in your room they will automatically put you in one of those rooms.

This is correct if the 5th person is 3 years or older. If the child is under 3 then any room in the resort can be booked, since it is assumed that the child will sleep in a pack and play.

In this situation, if you want the AB room with the Murphy bed, you can make a request for one but it won't be guaranteed.

As for the OP doubting their existence due to never having seen a photo of one, I would suggest that she go to the POR thread, where there are plenty of photos of the AB rooms and the murphy bed.

Yes, booking a preferred room is the only way to be guaranteed a murphy bed. None of the mansion buildings have pull down beds, and only 2 of the 4 mansion buildings are royal rooms, so you could be placed in one of the other mansion buildings no matter what category you book -- except preferred. All preferred rooms are in AB.

Are you booking room-only or package?
If you happen to be booking room-only, could you bump up the child's age to 3? This would have them automatically put you into the Alligator Bayou rooms with the pull down beds.
With a package, this couldn't be done, because then you'd be paying for room tickets or dining for the child.
I know Disney allows bumping up the age of children whose parents want them to have the adult dining package instead of the kids' dining package.

I just got back from a POR stay and stayed in an AB room and it did indeed have a pull down Murphy bed. DD5 slept in it every night.

The POR thread has plenty of pictures and everyone over there is extremely helpful if you have questions etc.

Would a 2 almost 3 year old be ok sleeping in the murphy bed? Does it have rails? Is it close to the floor. I would worry about her rolling off.

Same here. It does not have rails and is pretty high. Our 2nd DD is 2 and I know we would be up all night checking on her, I would not get much sleep. Heck, there are still times our 7 year old is hanging over the edge of the bed and I have to move her back onto the bed What I would give to be able to sleep that deeply again

The mattress for the Murphy bed is attached by Velcro. I've heard some families with small children put the murphy bed mattress on the floor. That way u don't have to worry about the little one falling out.

I'm worried about the same thing but with my 8 year old! She doesn't usually fall out of bed, but the murphy bed will be much smaller than what she is used to. I'm kind of surprised disney made a bed that is meant for small children that is so high off the floor and it doesn't have any kind of rails. Thankfully my kids are older now but I know that 2 out of 3 of my kids would have fallen out of that bed every night when they were younger! The old trundles were so nice because we didn't have to worry about that!

You could always buy a pool noodle and cut it to the length of the murphy bed and put it under the fitted sheet to keep her from rolling off.

Or, I've also read on here that you can request bed rails for the murphy bed.
