Which would you choose Port Orleans or the Contemporary?

We are planning a quick trip to Disney at the end of May and are looking at either Port Orleans or The Contemporary for our stay. We will have a resort day and honestly the pools at Port Orleans look like more fun but I know coming back from the MK late at night (or getting there for that PPO at BOG) the contemporary will be better. Clearly Port Orleans is less expensive but because it’s a short trip that is only a small factor. Anyway is the pool at the contemporary any fun? I will be traveling with my DD6 and DS1 so I’m looking for a good resort that they will have a fun day playing at. We are driving so I’ll have my car if that changes anything (for getting from Port Orleans to the MK). And we are only at Disney for two days (check in and resort day, magic kingdom, then we check out), so we have no other parks planned except for the MK.

So which would you choose and why? TIA!

I voted other and the other would be Wilderness Lodge. You still have close proximity to MK (by boat or bus), but a better pool area than CR for younger children - small pool, cute slide and big, super fun splash pad for children 48" and under. If you can afford to stay closer to MK than POR and POFQ, I would do it. Another "other" would be Poly or GF - zero entry pools, big splash pads, gorgeous view of MK from the resorts.

Because you are only there for one day and only planning to visit MK, I voted for Contemporary. With kids that small you cannot beat the proximity to MK especially if you will be using a stroller. I'm also guessing that at their ages any pool is a fun pool for them and I know for sure the Contemporary has a small splash area that would be great for the 1 year old.

Both are great choices!

I would go with CR then also. We really like the pool and atmosphere at FQ but nothing about RS gets me very excited.

We can use the pools at FQ though, right? That was part of the plan if we did Port Orleans was to walk around all of it and do both of the pools...

Yes you can! I wasn't sure if you would want to do that or not. If you're good with that then I would probably stink with POR honestly. PO is definitely more charming. The location of CR is nice but the bus really isn't a big deal!

I also said other and would do either Poly ( if you wanted to be able to see the Castle ) or WL ( if castle view doesn't matter ). Both are easy access to MK and the pool at both are great.

Both are great resorts (the FQ is charming) although the CR is lacking in the pool area. We find the proximity to the MK tough to beat - we enjoy the walk - and have always loved the resort, but I realize it is not to everyone’s taste. So I guess it would depend on your highest priority. The other suggestions - WL, Poly and GF - would also be well worth considering. For a short trip time is especially precious, but with a car that is less of an issue.
