I have never stayed on site and have decided to try this Oct. when my wife and I go for our anniversary. Should I book Coranado springs or port orleans franch quarter? Actually any Moderate for that matter TIA.

I think POFQ is far more more romantic. I also like that you can take the boat to DD. It would give more dinner options and possible fun time at PI. POR is a close second and CBR would be my third choice. It's not that I don't like CSR - I do but wouldn't pick it for my anniversary. Just my .02! :flower:

the thing i didn't like about csr is the food court set up. i was booked to stay there but quickly changed to po-fq when i read that they charge 10% on top of your purchase for gratuity. we eat at the food courts alot and at the end of the week that 10% would have really added up.

we have stayed at the other 3 mod. resorts and they are all nice but po-fq is my favorite. especially without the kids, it is much quieter and is beautiful !!

we love the CSR- the pepper market has so much to choose from. we stayed at the POFQ last 4th of July and we were so disappointed. The food was like any other food court and the rooms were not up to par. The good thing about CSR- its always clean and quiet. Set up really nice. you can enjoy a drink by the pool or the hot tub, take a nice walk around the lake and spend some time in a hammock. :flower:

We just returned from our 8th trip to CSR and we still love it just as much as our first time back in 1998. CSR is definitely our favorite resort!!

THE PROS
No sharing bus service with other resorts
Centrally located with short rides to the parks and Blizzard Beach
Largest hot tub on WDW property - holds 22
Best main pool area (of the mods) with 3 quiet pools
New shuttle service eliminates long walks to any of the villages
High speed internet service
WiFi avaiable as well
Free use of the gym
Spa
Fridge in the room
Coffeemaker in the room
Iron and ironing board
full room service menu
2 arcades
beautifully landscaped
central air, not a noisey wall unit

THE CONS
Full size beds (kings size beds are available)
one sink

IN THE MIDDLE
The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.

Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.

I have been to both resorts and IMHO the best of the two for an anniversary trip is Corondo Springs.
The pool, restaurant, Pepper Market and surroundings make it an ideal spot.
Have a great time at whichever resort you do pick

just 34days until my next trip to WDW

After 8 days at AKL, we spent a night a CSR. (Everything else was booked over the Memorial Weekend, and we lucked into a cancellation at CSR.) After thinking "deluxe" was the only way for our family of 5 to go anymore, we quickly changed our minds. We LOVED CSR, particularly the Peppermarket. Dh and I are trying to schedule a get away for the two of us later this summer. Our first choice will be CSR, and our second will be POFQ. I don't think you can go wrong at either.

CSR is a wonderful resort! Highly recommend!!
Beautiful resort and theming, best food court and themed pool and great buses!!

Never been to either but these were the 2 we were thinking of after deciding to do a moderate and I researched ALOT. We are bringing a 3yr old with us and our sister has a 2 and 4 yr old. We love kids but these 2 resorts (from searching the board) seem to be known to have the least amount so I think either one is good for an anniversary (and our vacation so we can relax some too) - it all depends on what you would consider fun and romantic.

Coronado is very mexican/southwestern feel and is very spread out around a lake with fountains, cactus, streams, strings of lights surrounding the outdoor areas and some beach areas with hammocks and sand. Their is a sit down restaurant Maya Grill and the Pepper Market is more upscale kinda food court. The pool is much bigger here w/ Mayan pyramid and water falls and their is a huge hot tub too. There is also 3 more quiet pools near each section. There is a good size pool bar too. Their is also a lounge inside that seems to get good crowds probably due to conventions - I prefer that to an empty one. They also have a health club, beauty salon and I am pretty sure a small spa since you can get massages and stuff there.

POFQ is New Orleans atmoshpere with romance and some Mardi Gras kicked in. It is much smaller so less walking. The only have a basic food court but it doesn't get too crowded. There is no sit down restaurant but there is one with a deep south theme - at POR you can go to. Lots of cobblestone roads, black lamposts, ferns and foliage with iron fencing, colorful buildings etc... The pool looks more kid oriented with the big giant dragon and his tongue slide. There are carriage rides here at night which seem romantic and there is the boat to DTD which is a nice change from the bus. Personally I think the rooms look nicer at POFQ too - they were just redone last year. You also have the option of trying all the pools and food courts at POR. There is also a Scat's Cat lounge that has great live entertainment Wed-Sat so I know there is a decent crowd there then too. There is no health club, salon or spa at either POFQ or POR.

I guess it depends on what you want, take a look at the pics on allearsnet.com and see what interests you more.

Oh yeah, bus service is supposed to be better at CSR as they don't share with another resort and their is internal transportation (aka extended golf carts) at CSR to take you around if you wish. PO has a boat that takes you back betweenthe 2 but no internal transporation.

We decided CSR more because we have been to New Orleans together already (love it there) and the pics to CSR appealed to me more as I like big resort feel hotels. I like the option of a sit down meal and the pool area in the middle of the lake looks awesome.

I have always been a CSR advocate, but had never stayed at any other moderate. BUT! Now I've stayed at both POFQ and CSR. Geez, I feel like an expert.

CSR ALL THE WAY! Beutiful grounds with lots of quiet spaces to sit and enjoy your company. You can get a room with a king bed that's not a handicapped room. The Pepper Market is SO much better than the Sassagoula food court (which was small, crowded, and very small). The Pepper Market is worth the 10% gratuity - and if you don't agree with the charge, you can let the cashier know. Dedicated busses - no sharing. AWESOME pool - the best there is! I love, love, love it!

The best things about POFQ were: boat to DTD and beignets for breakfast. That's it. Other than that is was small and uninspiring.

CSR at night, how romantic.

The beautiful Ranchos.

The Casitas from across the water, what a beautiful morning.

Oh thanks for your report and pics. I was always set on staying POFQ but now that I have really investigated and seeing a lot of reports, I know I made the right choice going with CSR instead. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks

To the OP, let us know when you make a choice

We have stayed at both resorts. Based on our personal experiences we would vote for FQ!

Another vote for CSR. We've stayed 2x in the Cabanas & 1x in the Ranchos & thought both were very quiet & peaceful. The food at Pepper Market & the food & drinks (Fiesta Margaritas!) at the main pool were excellent. The cabanas quiet pool was very nice. The grounds are beautiful & the transportation great. The first time we stayed at CSR we split the trip with POFQ-five days each. CSR was by far the favorite of the two.

I have reserves for CSR for the first time. I LOVED POFQ, very romantic, quite and convenient. Close to everything on property, which is nice. Very quiet and a really nice place!

We have stayed at both. We were at POFQ last Sept and DH hated it (I thought it was nice, but the food court was nothing special). We were at CSR in April for our anniversary and we LOVED it!! We thought the rooms were great and we really liked the variety, portion size and quality of the food in the food court. We didn't mind the 10% surcharge either. If you don't want to pay it, simply get your food to go. We also loved the landscaping and theming. We took a very romantic walk around the lake at sunset. We had a wonderful time and will definitely stay there again. HTH
