I booked our free dining vacation but was unable to add to our "room only" reservation at CBR. POFQ was the only option given to me... We were sooo looking forward to CBR. Any POFQ experts out there that can easy my worries about this resort?

Sooo thankful for Free Dining but bummed about our resort option

I think you'll love it! I'm far from a Disney expert, but we stayed at Riverside last year and are going back again in February. We love it! AND, the FQ has been renovated, so you'll be in fresh, new rooms! The dining hall has a huge selection of food for all meals (and it's convenient). I can understand the disappointment, but FQ will be fantastic, too!

I chose POFQ, and I can't wait. We are going in Feb. so I don't think we will be using the pool. I like the boat to DTD, that the resort is small and every room is close to the front. Plus, like PP said, all freshly renovated. I do want to try CBR, but I think I would like that more when its warmer, so we could enjoy the cool pool there. I think you'll like it.

I think you will like POFQ. As others have stated, it is a smaller resort that is not "spread out" like the other mods, the rooms are all brand new this year since the reno, and they have a boat to DTD.

Also, while staying at POFQ you have access to all the amenities at the sister resort POR, which is walking distance. It is one place you are allowed to "pool hop" so it can be nice if your family likes to spend a lot of time at the pool to check out both resort pool offerings. :thumbsup2

POFQ is a great resort, and the only mod we will stay at because of its compact size and just the great relaxed feel there. :goodvibes

I have also booked POFQ for our first moderate stay in February. We just did it this morning with the free dining promotion. I've looked to see if there is a current French Quarter FAQ thread and only found the one that was closed in 2004 and the subsequent one that was begun in 2008 and was closed in February of this year.

Is there a current FAQ thread for FOFQ? In the meantime I'll keep following this thread.

booked it this morning for Feb 18 through Feb 25 and free dining. Would love to see an updated thread too. Just started a thread asking about a map showing connecting rooms.
Hope the weather will be somewhat decent to try the pool at least once!

We stayed there in June and LOVED it! The resort is small and everything is close. The food was very good. Wait for the boat to DTD- short. New rooms were great. My parents stayed in the last building in the end room and it was only a 5 minute walk to the bus stop, pool and food. We were in building 4 and it was less than a 2 minute walk everywhere.

We ran into some problems with the buses but realized we shouldn't stay until they kick people out of the parks and then we don't have to wait so long. So, I would say there really wasn't a problem with them more of an issue with everyone wanting to leave at the same time. We only experienced it once in nine days so not really worth complaining over. That being said, if you try to leave for rope drop early- there is a wait for the bus, but that is at any resort. If you stay until the park closes there is a wait for the bus, but you will have that at any resort.

I did like how we were the only stop. We caught a riverside bus by accident and wow...there were lots of stops. POFQ has one stop!

We stayed at CBR for our 2009 trip and then POFQ for our 2010 trip. We all loved CBR, but POFQ wins, hands-down, for our crew, if only for the one-stop, one-drop policy of the buses!

It's a really darling resort and was just refurbed. Hope you enjoy!

take a look at this forum which is dedicated to both Port Orleans resorts.

I really don't think you would at all disappointed with this resort, if often tops the list of best moderate resort and people, including us, go back time after time.

You will not be disappointed at POFQ. I've stayed at all the Mods and FQ is families favorite. It's small and quiet. Buses and food court are good. :thumbsup2
