From others I have read the following...was it just their bad luck or true statements ?

Probably both. With 1,000+ rooms, in use most days, you can find whatever you want in terms of subjective scare stories if you spend enough time looking. Are they common issues though? No.

The answer to your one objective question is that the food court shuts at midnight (although some of the counters close a little earlier). Not sure if that is too early for you or not though.

Can anyone tell me what toiletries are provided in the rooms and what they are like?

Soap bars and small bottles of Shampoo/Conditioner, both are H20 product. The soap is round and white, and the Shampoo/Conditioner is clear and cleans your hair adequately (if you like combined product).

I'm a little bit sad. I wanted to stay at POFQ for our March 2012 trip, but the discount we had was already sold out there so we're staying at CSR. I know we'll enjoy it because it's Disney but I'll miss POFQ. We'll make it back there for another trip some time, though. :)

Heading to the airport soon.

Arrive MCO late tonight.

Check in to BC Sunday, then POFQ Wednesday.

Going to try to live update while I"m there.

:banana::banana::banana:

have a magical trip....looking forward to reading your reviews!

Headed to the hotel today, will be in Florida by 11am tomorrow and time just seems to stand still, yet there is so much last minute stuff to remember.

:banana::woohoo::yay::cheer2::cheer2:

Ah, I think I've fixed the problem. Ideally I needed to have shot a second batch of images angled slightly upward to fix the perspective issue, but I've pretty much dealt with it via software I think. Square things look a bit 'squarer' now anyway. :)

After: http://www.portorleans.org//images/panoramas/POFQ-Room-2011-3652-pano360.swf

I'm now happier with the second version, even if it's not quite as good as the POR one.

It looks amazing Andre! Thanks so much for posting this and for your wonderful, very informative website! I check it often to learn all the latest news regarding my favourite resort. :thumbsup2

I am so excited. We check in tomorrow! So at this time tomorrow we will be at MK! Now where should we eat lunch at MK? For lunch it will be CS. So, please let me know what your favorite CS is at MK.

Our favourite CS in MK is Columbia Harbor House. I can't wait to try their new salmon entree! :goodvibes

Hmmm... this does not sound very good. :sad2: Is this the typical experience for those wishing to ride the boat from POFQ to DTD??? Or is it an exception? We are going two weeks before Easter so if at busy times this is the way it is I will heed skier pete's advice and only use the boat for the return trip! :thumbsup2 Any other experiences, similar or different, are welcome!

thx, Sydnerella's Mama

We've never had any issues with the boat being so full that we couldn't board the first one that arrived. However we always visit at slower times so perhaps that's a factor?

We'll be arriving in two short days!! The Air Canada flight attendants have served notice of their intention to strike on Wednesday, so my sister and I decided to fly in a day early to avoid the possibility of our flight being cancelled on us. So we get an extra day of Disney magic! I called POFQ and got a room-only reservation added before our package starts and I am soooooo excited!! :cool1:  :yay:

Hope everyone who is there now is having a wonderful time, we'll be joining you soon! :dance3:

We just got back from a 9 day stay at POFQ last night! We were in building 2 room 2218, courtyard view. The room location was great! It was a short 3 minute walk to the food court, a 1 minute walk to the boat launch and a 2 minute walk to the pool. The refurbished room was fantastic! Our beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. We loved our Mousekeeper! She did an excellent job (and got a load of towel animals!) The bus service was great! No long waits (maybe 10 minutes at the longest) and only once did we share with PORS (and that was the last bus of the night out of HS at 10pm.) The food court was excellent, the bengiets were delicious, and the resort was beautiful! We were so happy to be back there again!

Just to add, we didn't check in online nor did we make any requests. However, we arrived at 10:45am and we were told our room was ready, which was in building 1 and it looked over the parking lot. We nicely asked if they had something closer to the main building and we were moved to the new room. So, next time I think I am going to request/pay for a certain room type.

What room category did you pay for?

As above from our experience, but again, that was October. I will add however that on the way to DTD most times it was announced that if you are using the last boat to get back, to be sure to be waiting at the dock early as this is the boat that can fill up. I do know that one weekend evening when we took the last boat back to POFQ (is it around 11 pm?) there were quite a few folk left to make their way to wait for a bus as the boat was full. Never had any problems at all going from the resort to DTD though.

Weird question time. In the new refurbed rooms at POFQ, is there room to put a twin sized air mattress? I'm not trying to squeeze more people into the room than is allowed, but my daughter is having a hard time finding a friend to come to Disney with us and we're considering a cousin - but he's male, and they're teenagers and obviously not going to want to share a bed.

I can't switch resorts because we got free dining back when you could check in on 3/31 and get free dining, and now that's no longer an option, so we have to stay at POFQ.

(This is probably not going to happen, just curious if it's even possible, space-wise.)

We have a DS age 20 and DD age 17
We too plan on bringing a twin areo bed.

What I have read by other DIS'ers:
Move the table and chairs abit and place the areo bed between the window/door wall and the queen bed.
A tight squeeze - but eveyone will be sleeping so who cares.

In the AM - prop the areo bed up against the wall to make some room.

For bedding we are bringing an old fitted sheet and an old twin sheet.
we plan on using an extra pillow from the queen bed for the areo bed and
get an extra blanket from housekeeping or the POFQ closet if one is there.

When we leave - we will throw away the old sheets....and the areo bed.
It is actually a Colemen air bed which only cost us $15. We will bring home the air inflator - good to blow up pool floats.

We didn't have to move the table and chairs to fit a twin mattress. It fit OK between the bed and door, and we propped it against the connecting door during the day.

The only bedding we brought was a fitted sheet. We asked housekeeping for the rest of the bedding.

Once I worked out what a twin air bed meant (LOL, my initial assumption from the use of the word 'twin' was that folks were talking about a two-person sized bed) then yes, you should be fine fitting one into the queen bedded rooms between the wall and the first bed.

Most of the extra space needed for the larger beds was swallowed up by the use of a thinner bedside table in fact.

As long as you only have the declared number of people sleeping in the room, housekeeping should be happy to provide you with extra linen, pillows, etc.

Hi!
We are a family of five and our youngest is 2 and sleeps in a crib. We'll be staying at POFQ next month, and considering renting a full size wooden crib for our daughter (she's tall and we're worried she'll be cramped in the pack and play. Is there enough room for a full size crib in the refurbed rooms? Thanks!
