It's official, I fell in love with POFQ! What a beautiful resort and it was so peaceful. Why do vacations have to end? Boooo

I want to go back!

Does anyone remember if they sell hats in the POFQ gift shop? I'm looking to get a birthday hat before we leave for the parks:flower3:

It's just perfect for small kids, but boring for bigger kids.

We went for beignets a couple weeks ago, and there were construction walls up all around the playground. I guess it's being refurbished? Does anyone know if it's being changed?

I was just about to ask if anyone knows if there are benches by the playground. But, that might not matter depending on the refurbish?? Does anyone know the plans?

Hi Lisa, I just realized that you are posting on this thread! When does Megan start back to school?

POFQ is our back up resort for February if a nice room discount does not come through for AKL. Since I've been reading this thread I'm getting pretty excited about POFQ.

Hi Kathy! I just switched over for our Oct trip from POP! she goes back 9/7 so getting out of school for a week to go! hope all is good with you two!

I believe the number is 407-WDW-PLAY. Might be best to check out the website or the perhaps the first post in this thread. Enjoy your trip!

This isn't 100% accurate (my comments are in purple) but I copied it from
http://www.wdwinfo.com/recreation/trailride.htm

Cash and Disney Resort guest room charge only (for walk-ups). No credit cards are accepted (by the driver)
Large carriage holds 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 small children.
Reservations nightly (weather permitting)
Begins at 6:00 pm with the last ride departing at 9:30pm
Departs from in front of the Boatwright's Dining Hall
Beverages are permitted (You can even bring a bottle of wine.)

Advance reservations (using your credit card) can be made up to 180 days ahead by calling 407-WDW-PLAY. A $45 fee for no-shows or cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will apply. (Another website says ressies can be made only 90 days in advance for this.)

Carriage Rides may be cancelled due to weather problems.

Hope this gives you all the info you need!

thanks for all the carriage info!

The number pwdebbie posted is the number to call to book a ride, 1-407-WDW-PLAY (1-407-939-7529). I called it as a 1-800 number and it told me to call another number to talk to fun people. It wasn't Disney, lol.

Do they charge per carriage or per person? If they charge per carriage maybe Anakin and I can share a carriage ride with you two to bring the cost down? I wonder if there is a discount for passholders?

We stay at POFQ in September. I'd love to do one of those little boats or a surray (?sp) bikes from over at POR.

we can definately share the ride, would be fun! as soon I know more of Judy's plans we can get the ride booked!

Love seeing all the photos being posted, can't wait to surprise Megan with the resort!

Does anyone know the dimensions of the room safe? I'm trying to figure out if my laptop will fit in it.

This may be a silly question, but are there elevators? I've never stayed here before. Also, does each building have laundry facilities, or are they at a central location?

This might be an odd question, but we are considering a second stay at POFQ (we were there in May and loved it) in January 2012.

I know it won't be love bug season in January, but are mosquitos a problem during that time?

TIA!

Yes, all seven buildings have elevators. There is one laundromat at POFQ.
Laundry on the levee is located near the swimming pool.

Wondering if any recent guests noticed the following items at the resort store:

Minnie ears on a bandeaux
Goofy hat

We are attending MNSSHP the night after our arrival and I will need to buy these...if not, I will just purchase them at MK when we get there. TIA!

(Edited - just had a brainwave...worried about the Goofy hat being hard to get, Minnie ears should be easy. I may just order the Goofy hat online from the Disney Store and have it sent to the resort. Hate to have DH dressed up and then not get the hat...that would not be a pretty picture!)

Do any of you do any Christmas decorating when you go? I'm planning to take at least a wreath for the door. It will probably take me this next year to plan the wreath. :rotfl:

This is our first trip to POFQ, we are so excited from all of the pictures.

I was wondering if they have coffee filters in the room or if I would need to bring my own? Also what kind of coffee do they offer in the rooms?

Does anyone know the dimensions of the room safe? I'm trying to figure out if my laptop will fit in it.

Not sure of the dimensions, but the safe is small. If you have a small laptop it will fit. If you have more of a 'desk size' laptop, never. I actually made that comment to my sister and BIL. My laptop would never, ever fit in there. I had my GPS in it's box and it almost took up the whole safe. LOL

Are all of the rooms at POFQ refurbished? Or are there still some sections not refurbished yet?

Is the pool being refurbished this November?

Last year when I was there, they have coffee prepackaged in a filter (like a tea bag). The coffee maker is small (4 cups?) so I always bring smaller coffee filters and my own coffee. I'm not sure what kind the coffee is and I've never tried it. Hope this helps!

I believe it is Nescafe. (yuck!) I am bringing the Maxwell House 4 cup pre-measured filter packs to use instead.;)

I just booked POFQ for our first family trip 10/29-11/5! We are all excited. Now I need to figure out meal reservations!
