Internet and connection questions!

Can someone please confirm or advise to the internet connection. is it wireless, or is it a plug-in lead? - I know it is chargeable at $10, and seem to recall it being mentioned it was cabled.

Secondly, are there the usual 2-pin electic shaver points can anyone confirm in the restrooms?

Thanks

Do you think you're the ONLY person in England looking more forward to something other than the royal wedding? :rotfl2:

Well even if I say it myself, it was a typically British occasion and although we get so many things wrong, it was a joy to watch and as always the coverage by the BBC was outstanding. Britain might be broken at present, but a lot of fixing went on today:thumbsup2

Steve,

Good luck not gaining the weight back with all of that good Disney food:rotfl2: But the upside is all the walking you will do should help
with all the extra calories:thumbsup2

Thanks fella. I plan to use the heat, walking and pool to my advantage. That may last all of 3 hours as Cooke's of Dublin awaits at DTD the first evening lol. ......there's always the next day, or the one after etc..:cool1:

It's all right, calories don't count when you're in Disney World. Or so I've been reliably informed...

Andre

As this is in writing/print, I can hold you personally responsible for any obscene gains. Since you are UK-based, there'll be no pleading the fifth defence for you sir:rotfl2:

I will check this thread one last time before I leave for overnight stay in Manchester (we fly from there) can anyone advise me what I need to pick up on arrival, such as events, timetables, park opening hours etc.

We really want to enjoy the parks, but staying at POFQ has me so excited about our hotel stay. Can anyone tell me what activities would be a must for a family at POFQ?

*Elliot Dyson at POFQ and Bob Jackson at POR.
*If you have kids, make sure they get the beads for around their necks and coins to throw in the fountain. Also, a small craft area is in the food court -- they can color and then hang their pictures on the wall.
*You can book a carriage ride -- starts at POR and you can choose whether to do just POR or POR and POFQ. We did both and it was very nice. (Also, you will enjoy the clip clop clip clop you'll hear as the carriage goes by in the evening.)
*Take the boat to Downtown Disney.

Does anyone know if there is still a spot for croquet? The last time I stayed there was in the early 90s and my mom had us all play a family game of croquet. DH and I are staying here in Sept. 2011 and while our kids will be mostly with their grandparents at SSR, they're going to be with us for 1 night and I'd like to play croquet if we can. If it's not there, then that's too bad!

Yes, there is a lovely green between Building 5 and 6 that would be perfect for croquet (or bocci or flag football . . . )

No wireless -- plug in cable only. It is short so you won't be able to sit in bed with your lap top, you'll have to use it at the table. $10.00 per 24 hours, not per day. So, if you start your 24 hours at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, you will have it until 1:59 p.m. Friday.

I don't know what a "2-pin electric shaver point" is but my dh has no problem plugging in his rechargeable razor.

Oh, I so hope you don't think I was making a joke at your expense! I just thought it was funny that you were talking about your Disney trip and mentioning the wedding was an afterthought. ;) I'm a teacher, so I was up at 5am in the US anyway, and I was glued to my TV just like the rest of the world :goodvibes

This thread has made me even more excited than I already am!!! POFQ bound in 3 days and super stoked!!! Our 4 year old daughter is practically bouncing off the walls at this point, and that's just based on information she sees on the internet...can't wait until we get there and she gets to experience the 'magic' first hand!! :dance3:

I tried searching but didn't see anything about the air conditioner controls. We like to sleep with it very, very cold! Can anyone tell me about it? Is it motion activated so I should plan to buy a balloon?

Thanks!

No its not motion activated. It will be set on a certain temp (typically around 70) and it will keep it around that temp. HOWEVER... we like it cold too... so if it isn't to the temp you want, just call maintenance or the front desk and they will send someone to turn it down for you. Most of them are "locked" so you can't change them but I have encountered a few that are not set!

Can they turn it up?!?!?!? 70 is WAY too low for me. I'd like it around 78-80. I check in tomorrow so I'm not looking for heat, just a lot less AC.

I was there in March in a refurbished room and there is now a wall mounted thermostat. This thermostat is digital and has control buttons for raising and lowering the room temperature :woohoo:. I only varied the temp. of my room by 4 or 5 degrees setting it for a cooler temp. during the day and raising it a bit before bed so that I wouldn't wake up freezing ;). By the end of my trip I had my personal desired temps figured out and was very comfortable!:) I can not tell you how extreme it will allow for temps. I was happy just to vary my setting by a few degrees above and below 70 degrees so I never tried for more extreme room temps. :goodvibes

I can also say that this new temp. control in the rooms is soooooooo much better than the old dial controller right on the unit!!! I was comfortable any time that I was in my room!

Hope you have a wonderful vacation :wizard:

Actually I think you can turn it up. I just don't think you can turn it down. If not, just call!

Yes... they are thermostats and are easy to use... but they still keep them "locked". By that I mean they have them set so they can only go so low for saving energy purposes. If you want it lower then you have to call down and have them come and "unlock" it for you.

Thanks Debbie - Not planning on using it a great deal, but I know at some point I will need a fix - as well as a day off from the parks etc.

Absolutely not, no offence taken and part of being a Brit is to laugh at ourselves anyway - hmm, on second thoughts might be just me lol.

Weddings are ten a penny - even royal ones ;) but unless it is one's own wedding, nothing compares to a trip to WDW. Royal weddings are mere fairytales, WDW is REAL magic:cool1:

Steve

We're big fans of Bob Jackson, but haven't seen Elliot Dyson yet. We're looking forward to seeing both of the shows on this trip!

I always mean to go over and see Bob's show, but never seem to get to that. I've heard it's fun!

Elliot Dyson's show is quite fun. He mixes in all kinds of music and obviously enjoys what he does. My personal favorite is his rendition of "Under the Sea", I have a smile on my face just thinking about it.

Unless you're like me and got married AT WDW :goodvibes:goodvibes Then you get to have real magic AND a fairytale :bride:
