Sending out a request for recent POFQ guests to post their observations/pictures of the refurbishment and share their experiences with those of us who are counting down the days. Thanks.

Just to clarify... is there a coffee pot in the rooms?:confused3

Yes, but it is the small (4 cup) coffee pot. They have packets of coffee that are enclosed in filters. If you want to bring your own coffee, you'll need the basket-type filters for small coffee makers.

I tried searching but didn't see anything about the air conditioner controls. We like to sleep with it very, very cold! Can anyone tell me about it? Is it motion activated so I should plan to buy a balloon?

Thanks!

I know others responded but no one mentioned the ceiling fan. I hope the fan is still there after the refurb. You can lower the room temp (or at least the feel of the room temp) simply by using the fan to circulate the air.

Yes, the ceiling fans are still there :goodvibes

EMH hours excluded, what "couples only" activities would you do/recommend in the evening??

We'll have DD with us, but my parents are going too, so DH can have an evening or two to ourselves to do somethings... can't really get away before 8 though and I don't want to make it TOO late of a night since we'll be getting up bright and early every morning.

I know there's easy access to DTD with the boat, but what else? I'd love something convenient, low-key & low-brow. Lol. We're just not super fancy shmancy people so cocktails, wine, etc. aren't our thing.

*Elliot Dyson at POFQ and Bob Jackson at POR.
*If you have kids, make sure they get the beads for around their necks and coins to throw in the fountain. Also, a small craft area is in the food court -- they can color and then hang their pictures on the wall.
*You can book a carriage ride -- starts at POR and you can choose whether to do just POR or POR and POFQ. We did both and it was very nice. (Also, you will enjoy the clip clop clip clop you'll hear as the carriage goes by in the evening.)
*Take the boat to Downtown Disney.

Yes, there is a lovely green between Building 5 and 6 that would be perfect for croquet (or bocci or flag football . . . )

No wireless -- plug in cable only. It is short so you won't be able to sit in bed with your lap top, you'll have to use it at the table. $10.00 per 24 hours, not per day. So, if you start your 24 hours at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, you will have it until 1:59 p.m. Friday.

I don't know what a "2-pin electric shaver point" is but my dh has no problem plugging in his rechargeable razor.

Thanks for this info!!!

We'll catch ya the last couple of days -- we arrive Oct. 9th! :cool1:

I've never thought of going to another resort to check the scene out... though walking down to POR had crossed my mind. We've never had "down time" on a Disney vacation before. In the past we've been footloose and child-fre ;) so we've been at the parks from open to close and pretty much crashed the minute we got back to our room. So having an evening free with no child but no desire to really go BACK to the park is going to be a novel experience for us.

Plus our 9-year anniversary will be the week after & I *should be* newly knocked up (hence anticipating NO desire to get any extra practice in while we're on vacation!! lol) , so I feel like we need to at least attempt a celebration of some kind.

I'd suggest maybe an evening in and around the Boardwalk area, just wander around the lakeside, have something to eat and enjoy the ambience and the entertainers, and a drink or two. If you've got park entry access for that day, pop into Epcot around 8.30 via the nearby "International Gateway" entrance (just a few minutes walk from the ESPN Club area) and watch Illuminations - again, could be with a drink in hand.

Another option would be to book a meal at the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian, and ideally time it so you can get a Lapu Lapu cocktail from the bar, and sit out on the Poly beach after your meal and watch Wishes over the lake from a sun-lounger (they even pipe the music over to the beach area for you).

(hmm, if the practising goes well in the meantime, maybe best to hold off on the Lapu Lapus for you... good luck and have fun! :) )
