I can't wait to stay in FQ for my Honeymoon this November!! I booked a King Room, so here's hoping for a nice river view!

I was lucky enough that past year, to have a first floor, king bed corner room at POR in Parterre Place - riverview and I was about thirty feet from the shore.

I was on the wing end and the sidewalk to that part of the building was at the opposite corner, so no one went past my room. Each night, I pulled out my chair into the alcove and watched the last of the water taxis come by for the night. It was awesome.

However, it took me some time to get used to a king bed TO MYSELF! I have four animals and they take up most of the queen bed at home - let me tell you, it was quite the luxury!

Enjoy!

Thanks for the new POFQ thread Andre! :thumbsup2

Cannot wait until my first ever solo trip arriving at POFQ on St. Patrick's Day :banana::banana:

The POFQ thread helps make my wait a little more bearable while I get to read about everyone's great comments and reports especially with the refurbishments :goodvibes So....Thanks everyone

So excited for my trip:yay: I love POFQ!!!:)

I'd like to chime in with the rest to say thank you for the new thread!

I bought half our airfare today, ADR Day is tomorrow, and now there's a new POFQ thread for me to enjoy! Life is good! :goodvibes

We're staying at POFQ for the first time in June. Very excited to get a refurbished room with the queen beds!! What building is the closest to POR, we'd like to be able to walk over there for dinner and some activities. How long of a walk is it from FQ to POR?

Building 7 is closest. Leisurely 7-10 min. walk.

For my first solo trip anywhere, I stayed at POFQ. It is a great resort for a solo person: Quiet, but not too quiet. Small, but not clausterphobic. You will love it! Have fun!

Thank you Andre for starting a new thread for us. I've said it before and I'll probably say it millions of more times, you are a Prince!!! Just wish I could plan a trip there now.

Yay for POFQ!!!! We cnat wait to get back there. I tried to talk DH into trying another resort, but he talked me back into POFQ, and I'm so glad he did. 3 months to go!

When we go in August, my family is thinking about having a few meals and definitely swimming at POR, so what time does the boat begin running to POR from POFQ? My DH was hoping it ran early, so we didn't have to trek the kids all the way over. They aren't babies and very capable of walking, but one of our DDs has low blood sugar and getting protein is pretty imporatant in the am, so we are debating on the walk or maybe boat. Thanks!!

The boat between POR and POFQ starts running at 10am, but as you say it's really only a fairly short walk - can be less than ten minutes, depending on the location of your room. Perhaps top the kids up with a little something bought the previous evening before you set off?

Andre

What room were you in?

I have requested connecting rooms, ground floor, in building 4 for our June trip. Where is the bus stop short cut?

Thanks!!!!:thumbsup2

We were in 4037 and I think my Mom's room was 4038 if I am remembering correctly. For the shortcut, you just go around the corner the backside of the building and cut through that way. There is a little crosswalk there by the "cast member bus stop" and you can just go across that way. Saves having to go through the lobby every time. I'm sure it's only a minute or two saved, but when you're tired, that's good. LOL

Just wanted to post a few comments abt my stay last month....
THis was my 2nd stay here...my DD4 calls it the Princess and the Frog hotel after a wonderful Dec 09 stay.

I was fortunate enough to snag a room the week of my arrival...there had been no availability... I wanted to stay here during Marathon Weekend for the size of the resort, transportation to DTD and hoping I would get a new room!

I did online check in, with only ONE request...BLDG 6...knowing the rooms were done there!
Got a new room, loved it! Especially all the bathroom counter space...love, love these rooms!

The walk wasnt bad at all...the scenery is lovely!

All the CM's were friendly...mousekeeping great, I didnt even have her come in one day as I was relaxing after the race.

Weather was too cool to go swimming, the hot tub was always full....
Enjoyed an evening in the bar watching football and listening to Elliot!

The walk to POR does not take long at all.....their gift shop is HUGE! The resort does look HUGE...had to see for myself after all these years!
However, I am not one to debate POR vs POFQ:)

I just know I love POFQ...
Every day the construction was going on in bldg 4...they are/were working hard...amazing at the progress!!!
I will try one of the other Mod's...eventually...lol...but POFQ is a great choice for anyone planning a trip and has the dilemma of what Mod! ;)

Does anyone happen to know if there is a shuttle or some type of transportation to Universal from POFQ. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

I think you can purchase a ticket/shuttle to Universal from guest services. Not sure though. I know it used to be like this but it has been quite a while since I have checked on this.

Disney doesn't provide a shuttle for you to go to their competitors, but you can either call Mears the night before (407-423-5566) and set up a pick up time or else you can stop off in the airport at the Mears desk (just before you get to the DME desk) when you first arrive in Orlando and purchase round trip vouchers. It's $18.00 r/t/person (plus tip). If you pay the driver at the time they pick you up, you must have exact change, but if you buy the vouchers at the airport you can use a credit card. You can also have guest services call them for you. The other options are a taxi or town car service.

If you go with Mears, call them the day before for your desired pick up time. You can either set up a return pick up time with the driver or else call the number on the voucher about an hour before you're ready to leave Universal.

Thank you so much for this valuable information. Someone who works with DH said they did this last year and it worked out fine. Unfortunately, this person was unavailable, so I thought I would put it out there to the experts!:worship:

The Magical Express is such a plus for us and a big part of our decision to stay on-site, but we are curious and may want to check out Universal.

I appreciate your help/advice and will take a copy of this with me. I never even thought to look at the airport desk.:flower3::flower3:
