Thank you so much for the carriage ride idea.
It will be our first time at POFQ and a moderate (yes we are downgraded from deluxe, which is no longer in our budget).
I thought a Riverside and French Quarter carriage ride will allow our family of 4 to learn more about the resort and our way around.

When are the carriage rides available ?
Every evening ?
What times ?
Do I reserve the carriage ride 180 days in advance, like an ADR ?
What happens if it rain the evening we have the carriage ride reserved ?

Sorry if I asked to many questions.
The carriage ride sounds a nice way to spend our first night at POFQ.

This isn't 100% accurate (my comments are in purple) but I copied it from

A relaxing and cozy 25 -minute (our ride lasted an hour) carriage ride through Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort (POFQ can be included in the ride)

$45.00 for 25 minutes (includes tax)
Tickets are sold by the carriage drivers (but are not always available -- If the carriage ride is a must do, don't plan to just walk up and be able to get a carriage, make an advance reservation.)
Cash and Disney Resort guest room charge only (for walk-ups). No credit cards are accepted (by the driver)
Large carriage holds 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 small children.
Reservations nightly (weather permitting)
Begins at 6:00 pm with the last ride departing at 9:30pm
Departs from in front of the Boatwright's Dining Hall
Beverages are permitted (You can even bring a bottle of wine.)

Advance reservations (using your credit card) can be made up to 180 days ahead by calling 407-WDW-PLAY. A $45 fee for no-shows or cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will apply. (Another website says ressies can be made only 90 days in advance for this.)

Carriage Rides may be cancelled due to weather problems.

Hope this gives you all the info you need!

How much is it to do a 1 hour ride?:goodvibes

thanks for the info....will look into booking it! do I call the resort directly for this? or is their a booking # to call??

hey Tink! I'm still figuring out all there is to do at PO...any info you have to share I'd appreciate it! we can't wait to meet up with you guys, getting closer! told Judy we switched last night when I talked to her for a few minutes.

I believe the number is 407-WDW-PLAY. Might be best to check out the website or the perhaps the first post in this thread. Enjoy your trip!

The number pwdebbie posted is the number to call to book a ride, 1-407-WDW-PLAY (1-407-939-7529). I called it as a 1-800 number and it told me to call another number to talk to fun people. It wasn't Disney, lol.

Do they charge per carriage or per person? If they charge per carriage maybe Anakin and I can share a carriage ride with you two to bring the cost down? I wonder if there is a discount for passholders?

We stay at POFQ in September. I'd love to do one of those little boats or a surray (?sp) bikes from over at POR.

I'm excited for you - I hope you have a great vacation.

Thank you! I printed our boarding passes this morning and we have A seats, not bad for not paying for Early Bird Check In!

I'm spending today packing and getting ready. We leave for the airport at about 3:30 AM, but I'll be too excited to sleep so that doesn't matter. :)

Thank you all for the information, tips and advice in this thread, and thank you to Andre for creating it!

I can't wait! By this time tomorrow, we could be checking into our room!

Have a WONDERFUL trip!

Hey! Just booked our January WDW trip and we are staying at the POFQ for the first time. I need to know the # of grams of carb and fat in a beignet for my daughter. Any idea where to look? Thanks!

Kelli

Just back from a wonderful stay at POFQ. We were not disappointed in the refurbished rooms! They were elegant and very clean. The resort didn't seem crowded at all. While we were there they were painting the floors of the corridors in building 4 and it didn't appear that building 7 had any occupants either.

The bus service was very good (no long waits) and easy. Only had one extremely long wait during a storm at Typhoon Lagoon to come back to the resort.

We paid for a River View room and requested a top floor, corner room. We checked in at 8:30 AM and our room was ready and exactly what we hoped for in building 6.

All the cast members we encountered during our stay were pleasant and helpful. The foodcourt was very good as well. Lots of variety and tasty food. We have the Tables in Wonderland card so were able to receive 20% off food and that helped a lot! We purchased refillable mugs and liked the fact we were able to fill them with iced tea (white tea, green tea, sweetened black tea and unsweet black tea) as well as soft drinks.

The pool was fun and we were always able to find chairs/table to put our things.

They had several movies playing during our stay, as well as pool parties, and camp fires. We went to Scat Cats one night and enjoyed the entertainment there. I will post pictures below, if you have any questions - feel free to ask.

Love your pictures :thumbsup2

Your daughter is so pretty and I love the decorations on your window. My DD loves that movie and how much POFQ reminds her of it.

Glad you had a great trip :goodvibes

Fantastic pictures JessietheNCCowgirl
I spy a hidden Mickey in the street lights on the swimming pool picture ;)
2 weeks today and our family will be waking up in POFQ for our first full day of Disney magic :yay:

JessietheNCCowgirl, thanks so much for sharing your pics! I love your resort window! I wonder if they will still have the camp fire, movies, and pool activities in September when we stay at FQ for the first time?
