Port of Galveston - where to stay pre-cruise????

Hi Dis-ers!

We're booked on the Wonder in December out of Galveston. We had originally planned to drive down from the Dallas area the morning of our sailing, but now we're thinking it might be a better idea to come down the day before.

So, now the question is - where to stay in Galveston. I'm hearing that some hotels will allow you to leave a car and take a shuttle to the port. Any advice there? That might even cancel out a lot of the extra cost of paying for the hotel if we're not ALSO having to pay for parking at the port.

We just stayed at the LaQuinta. It was around $100 plus $25 for the shuttle and parking. Pretty decent place to stay.
