Anyone else disappointed that we're no longer stopping in La Spezia? Just received an email to say we're stopping in Livorno instead due to some Italian Naval maneuvers. Really disappointed as we were looking forward to doing the "Portofina and Santa Margarita" tour again, which is now longer available.

Livorno is far far far better.

Closer to Florence closer to Piza, Closer to the motorways. The ship always docks there, whereas La Spezia it may tender, and if it docks there is a bus shuttle to the port entrance.

It's only worse for Cinque Terrie.

We are on the August 10th sailing and got the same notice. We were also planning to do the Portofino and Santa Margarita excursion. Now scrambling to figure out something else for our group.

We got the same notice for the 29th. Will they make up for the quicker driving time by giving us more free time on our excursions? Or will they just be shorter?

Florence, Piza, Luca, are far easier and quicker to get to from this port, they should give you more time there, as coaches and drivers need less time.

It's such a shame. We were really looking forward to Portofino. Anyone know what Livorno is like? Don't really want to head to Pisa or Florence as we've been before.

The town itself is a commercial port, we went there on RCCL, there is nothing close there, your best going on a shore trip to Lucca, Florence, Piza.

Siena and San Gimignano are accessible from Livorno.

Same notice for the Aug 15 departure. if I read the note correctly they are sending separate notes to those who had port adventures that were affected. I assume that if my port adventure is still showing up on our reservation then it's not affected and still on

The main ones will be quicker, Florence Lucca Piza, there closer and the freeways closer, the Cinque Terrie is the place affected.

Can anybody tell me how easy it would be to get to the train station (to get to Florence)? Do cabs tend to queue there as they do at other ports? Also, on the itinerary it indicates that the ship will be in port at 7:15 am -- is that the "all ashore" time or the time that the ship arrives/still needs to be cleared? TIA!

We're on the 22nd sailing, and other than looking not as picturesque as La Spezia, I'm hoping, as someone else mentioned, that the driving time to Florence is shorter and we'll have more time there (we're on the ABD add-on, so that's our excursion that day). That's a bummer that your preferred excursion was cancelled.

We are on the Aug 10 sailing. I have a private tour booked to Cinque Terre. So bummed about this change. I've been doing some research and the majority of people say that there just isn't enough time to enjoy Cinque Terre from the Livorno port. Also from what I've read, disembarking and having to take a shuttle into town seems time consuming and a hassle too. I guess maybe not more so than tendering. Just not sure what to do.

Cinque Terre in a day is perfectly doable especially as you still have twelve hours in port. If you take the high speed Frecciabianca train from Pisa Centrale to La Spezia you will be there in 45 minutes and from there it's less than 10 minutes to the first village of Riomaggiore. Manarola is two minutes on the train from there but you can also walk it if Lovers Walk is open.

Just to add that certain Frecciabianca services stop at Livorno Centrale before Pisa making the journey to La Spezia very easy.
