PORT ARRIVAL TIME WINDOWS ... ? enforced

Of course, if they do continue to get the boarding numbers, DCL's response could be they are paying for the privilege. Of course, that means that they could raise the price.

I checked my online check-in and it still says 10:30, but I'm wondering since we are on the previous cruise (B2B) if that is the reason it hasn't changed?

Hi Dizzy,

The port arrival time for our non-concierge guests still shows 10:30 - 11 too. I already have those documents printed out so that's what we are going with.;)

Perhaps everyone prior to 11 will default to the time that the terminal opens and no one will be pushed back, until they get this figured out.

I very well maybe wrong, but I thought I read that if upir dining reservations are linked, that you would be able to book Palo/Remy reservations for others in your party. Can someone confirm/deny this?

No you are right. My sister in law booked for everyone including my parents who are first time cruisers even before there 75 day booking window opened up.

We are on the Aug 2nd cruise which is only 22 days away  and the port arrival times for the non-concierge guests in our party still show up at 10:30 - 11. DCL is saying that they are in the process of changing that but I think they will just leave it for the ones who have done online check-in already. Just my guess so it wouldn't hurt to keep checking.

As of right now DCL is not enforcing port arrival times so you should not have any problems. According to DCL, when the new opening time for the terminal goes into effect on Aug 2nd they will start enforcing port arrival times.

I totally agree with what kritter posted. This is basically what concierge told me on Thursday. I am still in touch with the shoreside concierge manager and she is trying to find out more information for me. I could be totally wrong but it sounds like they will have different queue areas for each boarding time and another queue area for those who did not select a port arrival time. If you show up before your arrival time then they will make you wait in the queue area.

It will be interesting to see what really happens on Aug 2nd.

Shoreside told me they would call me on Monday. Let me know what you find out and I will do the same!!

If enforced, and I wholeheartedly believe that it should be, wouldn't the arrival times make boarding cards obsolete? Everyone allowed in from 11-11:30 would be allowed to board as soon as boarding begins around 11:45 or Noon. Those allowed into the terminal after 11:30 wouldn't be through security and checked-in until the 11-11:30 folks are nearly done boarding.

In essence, a continous stream of arriving passengers, allowing 30-45 minutes for security and processing, then walking right on the ship.

After the pain of the transition, this should be a remarkably better system then the current hurry up and WAIT style of boarding used now!

I support this change and can only hope for ENFORCEMENT. :)

Hi! My dh and I cruised on our honeymoon 11 years ago on the Magic. I don't remember much about the boarding process.

Next month we are going with our kids on the Dream. We have reserved a concierge room and I am a little confused as to when we will be allowed in the terminal. We are landing in orlando at 9 am and will be using disney transportation to get to the terminal. Will we be allowed to enter the terminal upon arrival?

Thanks!!! Lisa

I think that would work, unless....there was some sort of hold up with the start of boarding. For that reason, I think it would work best if they still distributed boarding numbers.

Hi....I wish you a stress-free boarding day. :thumbsup2

I still wonder where they are going to hold the early people?

I too believe this would be a good thing for DCL to do !!

I'm only a bit concerned about ... ARRIVING at the PRECISE GIVEN time WINDOW !! You cannot EXACTLY predict how traffic will be , can you ?

Will the "waiting" lines be OUTSIDE , under the Florida sun ??
I hope DCL has been thinking of some "covered" area , maybe in the large area where the luggage used to be stored ? or , at least , :thumbsup2 give us a tent and some fans ...
Definitely it is not nice to wait in a queu in the hot Florida sun - even if just for 20 minutes or so ...
( I am a FASTPASS guy , would never line up , not even ;) for an attraction I love !!! )

Does someone know WHERE the waiting lines will be ??

:confused3 laura

If you are a concierge guest you can enter the terminal any time after it is open, which as of August 2nd will be 11am. Since you are using DCL transportation you will most likely be able to enter the terminal when you arrive.

<snip>...I deal with HS-ers all day long who believe that the rules don't apply to them, due in large part to their parents acting the same way.

I think we teach at the same high school LOL!

... I now return you to your port check in times......

Yes, that is what it says for all platinum/concierge guests. The problem with this is that it only helps you once you are in the terminal. As of right now there is not a separate security line to get into the terminal. This is one of the things we have voiced as a concern to DCL and they are looking into it for us.

I think the platinum/concierge guests should be allowed into the termincal once they arrive at or after 11 am. They cannot get in prior to port opening time, but they should just show their documents and get in after the terminal opens. However, they still have to go through the long time outside with the other guests. If DCL enforces the check-in arrival time, the process should not take long once the terminal opens. Show them the documents, get inside through security if you have the right arrival time, go into another waiting area and wait for more if you are early for your arrival time. The platinum/concierge guests will get it right away after showing DCL the documents once they get to the front of the line. It would be great if they have a separate line for Castaway Club (not just platinum/concierge...please...)!

I believe when people see that DCL is enforcing the policy, the line will get shorter. People at the back of the line with later arrival times may see there is no point standing in the line and find somewhere else to go to spend their time until their arrival time. If I have 1:00 pm arrival time, I would rather explore the port a bit than standing in line knowing I would not get in until 1 pm. We will see how it goes on August 2nd. Just my thoughts.

Good luck everyone!

I second this!

I think you should be able to get in upon arrival for two reasons: you are concierge guests and you use DCL buses. DCL buses get into the terminal from another entrance. Once you show your concierge documents, you should be allowed in.

My guess is this won't any longer be the case, your boarding # will most likely be linked to your arrival time, not the time you check in. But that remains to be seen.

.

I cannot imagine why this wasn't the case from day #1 anyway!

Still, the window of the notice is way too short for many people to adjust flight times, etc. As a courtesy they should've given at least a 3 month (if not longer) advance notice to the 1st set of passengers IMO:sad2:

The immediate area near the port doesn't really offer much in the way of anything within walking distance. Tampa has great options, even Miami you can get to bayside easily.:confused3It certainly would be a way for disney to make a few extra bucks by putting up a combo disney store/food court/arcade, etc.

I was curious about this as well. Our flight comes in at 9:50am by the time we get to the shuttle check in and on our way to the terminal it will put us there about an hour earlier than our arrival time. I checked in online today(we cruise in 89 days) and the 11:00-11:30 and 11:30-12:00 slots were already grayed out. I have a 3 year old that will be anxious to get inside will we really have to wait outside for the hour? :confused3:confused::eek:
