I've seen "3 and Under" and "Under 3" listed in various places as the porta crib age for a 5th person in the moderate resorts. We are a family of 5 (kids ages 11, 9 and 2 currently). If we arrive in WDW after our dd turns 3, are we still "allowed" to put her in a porta crib in a moderate resort? I'm thinking this should be our call, based on dd's size and sleeping habits at home (ie; if she's accustomed to sleeping in a crib at home, why would we put her on a daybed in a hotel room?) But, from reading here, it seems that there is some prohibition about not having more than 4 in most rooms. (Count me in with those that wish there were more options for families of more than four). What do you think, would we get in some sort of trouble for having a 3yo in a porta crib?

Also, do you prefer to bring your own, or request one at the resort?

The port a cribs in the resorts are just a pak-n-play playpen really. If you're child is small enough to fit and not over the weight that these pak-n-play cribs are meant to hold AND she'll still be comfortable to sleep in one then go for it. Although as far as booking goes, when they ask the ages of your kids, if your youngest is OVER age 3 I don't think they'll let you book a room that only holds 4 (unless you're booking a room that will hold 5 such as POR in the AB section, etc.) .... but as long as they are 3 or younger, you'll have no problem no matter which resort or room size and you're totally allowed to use a pak-n-play if it will work for you. But again, it's up to you to decide if your child will be comfortable in the pak-n-play if they are bigger. Also, they don't provide very good bedding for them if at all. We stayed at POR about 2mos ago over a wknd and used a pak-n-play for our dd and it came with a fitted crib sheet but no blankets AT ALL! We called housekeeping 3 times for an extra blanket and they never came. Ended up putting dh's lightweight jacket on her so she'd have a blanket of sorts. So just be aware of this just in case.

FWIW, if you stay at POR in the AB section, it may cost a little more per night for the trundle bed but it should have the extra bedding for it and a small child who may be too big for the pak-n-play would fit nicely on it.

OR if you'll have a long enough stay, you may want to look into renting a full size crib from a baby's best friend. They'll come set it up and have it waiting for you in your room as well as come pick it up when you're done. Lots of people have reported using them here on the boards and recommend them. It may be worth checking out;)
