We are still deciding between POFQ & PORS. We like the looks
of the mansions over the bayou. Which would be a good building
for me to request. Can you get king beds at PORS?

Yes you can get King beds at Riverside.

Sometimes FQ and Riverside share busses. When they do it picks up a FQ first. The first stop at Riverside is the General Store/ Hotel Lobby.

We stayed at Magnolia Terrace. Which was right near the last bus stop " East Depot". The buses were never really full.( We went in Novmeber and FQ was closed) If we thought the bus was going to be full we wouild walk over to the Hotel Lobby and get on at the first stop...even though we never really needed to.

Might be better if you looked at the map here you go.

Whether the buses are full or not depends on the time of day and the busyness of the resort. Mornings are always hectic from an hour before the parks open to an hour after the parks are open. Midday is always nice - plenty of room on buses. Weekends tend to be quite busy.

We prefer FQ over Riverside. For a lot of reasons. If you want to know why, post here and I will do a summary. But if you are going to stay at Riverside, the bldgs closest to the first bus stop are in Alligator Bayou. Bldg. 14 is closest to everything. The next closest bldg would be bldg. 15 or possibly 16 and 18. The size of the rooms in the mansions and AB are the same. The decor inside is different. But, if you are looking for closest to the first bus stop it would be in the AB section. Perhaps someone can tell you which mansion would be closer but I'm not sure.

If you truly want the first bus stop then you need to stay at FQ. It is the first on and first off.

Actually the first bus stop at riverside is at the main building, so while staying at peak time we would walk over the bridge from oak manor and cut through the building then out the door to the first bus stop.(you can stop and get something to eat, on way). There were plenty of times that bus was way full by time it made its way to the manor sections! ;)

Are there really times (when FQ is open) that POR and FQ do not share busses? I have always stayed at peak times and they have always shared then. I am wondering if other times of the year they do not share.

Since the 2 resorts merged, buses have always been shared during my visits. I have however, seen completely full buses skip the last 3 stops. One morning, the bus I was on was standing room only after picking up everyone at the main building. The last 3 bus stops were completely missed as the bus went directly to the park. That is why I always advise catching the bus in the morning from the Riverside main building stop.

TigerBear ... Here goes ... the reasons I prefer POFQ.

1) It is the smallest of the moderate resorts. There are only 1008 rooms instead of over 2000.
2) Because it is smaller there are not as many people "around" and it seems (although it may not be) a little less busy than PORiverside. Of course at peak check-in times it is very busy, just as with all other resorts.
3) Everything is close. The buildings, even if you stay in the far ones, are closer than the far ones at PORiverside. I don't think you would have more than a 7 minute walk to anything from the furthest room. And that is walking at a leisurely pace.
4) Landscaping. There are a lot of courtyard views at FQ. The courtyards have large grass spaces where kids can run and play and not bother anyone. I think you can even play crochet on them, but I'm not sure. And I like the fountains that are spread out in those courtyards. A nice touch.
5) The bus stop, although only one at the resort, is the first bus stop. After POFQ it goes on to 4 stops at PORiverside. This means that typically we can get a seat in the mornings and not have to stand. In the evenings it means that we are the first to get off...which is nice with a 3 year old. But, even when we went without our son, it was nice for tired adults.
6) We prefer the atmosphere at FQ. We like the "gas lights" at night and the jazz music that is piped in by the pool and in the lobby. The "streets" are paved with red brick and there are "pretend" horse heads lining the streets. It is a nice touch.
7) We prefer the pool area at FQ even before we had kids. The pool bar has seating with tables and umbrellas that is separated, just a little, from the pool area. That is nice. We don't typically swim at "quiet pools" but prefer the theming at the pool area at FQ.
8) Now that we have a son, we like the playground at FQ a bit better. It is a little smaller and has a "padded" surface. The one at Riverside has a dirt floor and is much more rustic.
9) Everything is so close and easy to get to compared to Riverside. We just like the feeling of that when we are there.
10) Riverside is just down the path from FQ. So when we want a change of pace we simply catch a bus to Riverside or walk the path by the river.
Sorry it is so long but if you have any questions, just ask.
