No, not applesauce. :cool2:

I have pork chops (DH wants them baked with Shake 'n' Bake), but have no idea what to serve with them.

We are working on being as no-carb or low-carb as we can at the moment, so potatoes are OUT!

What veggies are good with pork chops? I have a taste for asparagus... but does that pair well?

What would YOU make?

Shake 'n' Bake???? Can I heeeeelp?

YES! :thumbsup2

Green beans are also good with chops, as is corn, broccoli, baked beans, cranberry sauce.

There are quite a few foods that go well with pork chops.

Mmm... cranberry sauce AND baked beans sound good... obviously, not together! :rotfl:

My wife often cooks the chops with saurekraut. It is awesome (and I don't even like sauerkraut), but I have no idea what else she puts in it...

Maybe BBQ sauce? That's how I make mine.

OP - I also second the cranberry sauce, and think the apsaragus sounds fine as well.

Sounds god to me, too! :thumbsup2 But DH might look at me funny if I plop down his Shake 'n' Bake 'Chops with asparagus AND cranberry! :upsidedow

Funny. I am planning on grilling some nice thick pork chops tonight, and I'm also a low-carber. :goodvibes

I just have to say it - check the shake n bake for carb count. Not sure it qualifies as "low carb."

Cranberry sauce and BBQ sauce are WAY too high in sugar - so they're both VERY carby.

Anyways, I am planning on making a big salad to go with the chops with romaine, onion, red pepper, broccoli, and olives with blue cheese dressing. YUM!

I'll also cook rolls for my boys who do NOT low carb, LOL.

Good point, but I think whatever carbs are in the S'n'B will be the carbs for the meal. :thumbsup2

And a salad does sound good!!!

Pork chops at our house tonight too! I'll just put salt, pepper a little seasoning and cook them in a little olive oil. Shake and Bake is NOT low carb.

Low carb = asparagus, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, slaw, summer squash, onion, zucchini.

No cranberry, stove top, bbq sauce (unless it's low carb) or baked beans. All of these have carbs.

We always had that growing up. No BBQ in ours. Not breaded, though.

For low carb: have you every tried mashed cauliflower? It's the low carb version of mashed potatoes & it's VERY good!! You can make it many different ways.

Here's a good recipe:

I just made some "loaded" cauliflower yesterday. Cooked and mashed the cauli. Added some thinly sliced green onion, crumbled bacon, and shredded cheese. Then topped with a dollup of sour cream. Yummiful!

So OP, what did you end up making for dinner with your pork?

I seasoned mine with salt, pepper, and some rosemary, and then grilled them to absolute perfection. :)

I LOVE low carbing!

By the way, I knew Shake 'n Bake would have carbs, but holy cow, I never knew it was THAT much! :scared1:

You can still get that "unique" S&B flavor and a few less carbs, just put less on. don't shake it in the bag, sprinkle it on.

or shake it in the bag and then knock much of it off.

Mikeeee

I love shake and bake on pork chops. Steamed veggies go well particularly brocolli and the already mentioned cauliflower. As for carbs, you can just sprinkle the stuff on the chops lightly and still get the flavor.
