We ate on July 4 at SSR Turf Club. I ordered the pork. The server asked me if I wanted it cooked medium rare????!!!! I said oh, pork should always be cooked through, no pink....she informed me that is not how they cook pork anymore at WDW restaurants.

I have had Trichinosis from eating undercooked pork and I told her that, she just smiled.

The pork did arrive cooked through and it was delicious, so diners Beware!!!

I hope and I'm pretty sure that all the chefs at WDW are up to date on what is safe and what is not as far as how to cook meats. Saying that, I am also surprised that pork was offered medium rare. Thought that was only an option for beef, not pork or chicken.

I look forward to post from board members who may know more about this subject. Turf Club is one of my favorite dining options at WDW.:cool1::banana:

CA Grill will offer medium rare as well.

You need to be concerned with internal temperature not color. While you would think the two would go hand in hand that's not always the case. The temperature is what is going to kill anything bad.

Trichinosis is extremely rare in the US, and has been for years (decades probably). It should not be a safety issue to eat undercooked pork, but you should always have food cooked to your liking.

Absolutely correct.

This preparation is for the pork tenderloin and less fatty chop cuts and most chef's do not and have never cooked it to well done, it is always served juicy and slightlly pink! This might scare the home cook but it is safe to eat. By the same token if you won't eat it this way, just like steak they will cook it the way you want it, which is why they ask!

I stayed at SSR for the first time and had their pork tenderloin for dinner and I asked for it to be medium.

It was fab-u-lous!

It's my son's favorite, also medium, either that or the lamb chops, no kids menu here!
