Everyone seems to think this is a good moderate resort. As we are still struggling with which moderate to book, I cant help but wonder if there are any short commings for the PORFQ .

I appreciate your help and honesty.

We stayed there for the first time last Jan. and all I can say is: we REALLY liked it!!

The beds were comfy.
The room came with a fridge and coffee maker.
Liked how the curtain pulls closed between the bedroom and bathroom so people in our family who were changing (or getting ready early) had privacy.
The food court had lots of good food and was convenient.
The pool looked totally awesome (the UG rates in the second best of Disney resorts I think, after SAB)

We only stayed there one night after a 5 day stay at OKW and all wished we could have spent a few more day there.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it too....

I've stayed there 6 times and I can honestly say the only thing it lacks is a sit down restraunt. It is truely a wonderful resort.

Hi Jakesmom1,
We just stayed at PORFQ this past Nov and I agree this is a really nice resort. BUT being there with little ones (ages 3 years old and 6mos) it really wasn't for them. My 3 y.o. found it to be not as exciting as some of the other hotels on property (he would much rather stay a value resort and play in the fountains--- my dh and I also found it alittle to tame for us). They do have a pool slide and a very small playground.
IMO--- If you are traveling with kids and want a moderate resort I would recommend one of the other ones.
Feel free to ask me any questions!
Happy planning!:)

Not to muddy the water, but my family prefers CBR. (Family = DH, DS, 12 & DD, 10 + me) The food court is bigger at CBR. My family also likes the theme for CBR, too.

That said, I liked POFQ. It's a small resort. Everything is close together. If you want a sit-down meal, go over to POR. It's close. You can pool hop between POR and POFQ, if you want. My family didn't get the chance. (Too busy at the parks!) DTD is only a boat ride away.

We stayed there last Oct. & LOVED it! Everthing is close by, only 1 bus stop and even though they share a bus with POR-POFQ is picked up first. So if the bus is almost at it's limit-some times the driver will bybass POR and head straight to the park. Loved the boat ride to DTD and the food court was great. The Mardi Gras theme is very tasteful and neat to look at. The only problem/issue was in our room-we had a noisy air unit. But the rooms were great & clean.
We have stayed twice at the Poly, twice at the AS' , once at the POP and just returned from CBR.
The POFQ is my 2nd choice (Poly is 1st).

Enjoy :wave2:

We stayed there for our quick trip in Feb. I really liked the resort alot, busses were convenient, pool was nice, theaming was great and overall it was a very pleasant surprise. I would stay there again.
That said. I missed the privacy of the balcony and the view we had at Poly. POFQ is more Motel style, small window and door at the front of the room and dark at the back. If I was staying all week and needed to use the room alot for naps with children, I would feel a bit cooped up. I don't know if any of the Moderates have the center hallways but it is worth considering.

We stayed at POFQ last fall, and we really liked it! It is a small resort, so there are no rooms that are far from the bus stops, food court, or pool. The boat that goes over to DTD is great- very relaxing. The rooms are nice- the whole resort was recently refurbished.

The only downsides to POFQ I can see are the lack of a sit-down restaurant and the theme. The restaurant thing can be remedied by taking a short stroll along the river to POR and eating there. As for the theme- I loved it, but for some, it might be a bit too quiet and low-key for them. If you want an upbeat, fast paced, "fun" theme to your resort, POFQ might be too quiet for you. But if you like to go back to a tranquil, quiet resort, then the New Orleans theme is great.

I loved POFQ, and would stay there again in a heartbeat! I haven't been to all of the Mods, but between POFQ and CSR, I'd choose POFQ.

the only thing it lacks is a sit down restaurant....but boatwrights is a very short stroll away. The pool is great...and you have access to the POR pools as well if you want.

its very compact....so no matter what building you are in, its not a far walk to anything.

the rooms were rehabbed last year, so they are in great shape

We have 3 small children and have stayed at POFQ twice now. We're staying there again in 2 weeks.

I think it all depends on your needs... We love POFQ, and there is nothing we don't like about it (for a mod). I mean, yes, a private balcony is nice (of course!) but none of the mods have them, so I can't say that is a downfall since we're not comparing it to deluxes. We don't need a sit-down restaurant so that's not an issue. We love how quiet it is, how small it is, the layout of the resort, the boat to DTD, the themed pool and dragon slide (which my 5 yr old and 3 yr old love!!) and the beautiful, lush grounds...

I just thought of something I know some people don't like about POFQ, and that's that it shares buses with POR. We've very rarely used the buses while staying there since we have driven our minivan in the past. But the trip we're going on in two weeks, we will be relying 100% on Disney transportation, so we'll see how it is sharing buses with POR... Send me a pm in 3 weeks or so and I can tell you how that was! :)

We LOVE POFQ. (Pretty obvious since it's the ONLY resort we will stay at when we go to disney) We have visited other resorts but for the $$ we just really like staying in the Moderate resorts. POFQ is also very versitile. We found it to be quite and romantic when we were on our honeymoon. Now that we have a 2 year old we find it to be alive and bursting with energy. Oppose to what someone said before..my 2 year old LOVES this resort. The playground is small yes..but with the WDW parks every day who needs a large playground anyway! Also the pool at POFQ is just amazing. DS LOVES it. There is also a large green grassy area that is great for us to just sit down and watch DS run for a while (to get out that last little bit of energy that he has and WE don't) The CMs are WONDERFUL and very helpful. The food court is very yummy. I do wish they still had the sit down resturant, but like someone else said if you really want that then POR is just a short walk, bike or boat ride away. I love the fact that POFQ is the first stop for the parks. Most of the time, even in October when we usually go, POFQ would fill up the bus at our one stop and the bus driver would just head straight to the parks. It was great. Even when we did have to share with the bus stops at POR it was still nice to be the first people on the bus. I think POFQ is a GREAT choice for a moderate resort. Have a great trip!

Over the years our family has managed to stay in each of the moderates. DH and I were at POFQ in January and POR (mansions) in April. We preferred the exteriors and landscaping at POR over that of POFQ. It just seemed lusher and more "themey". We also preferred Riverside's pools because of the quiet pools located throughout the resort. We liked the food court at POR better as well. At POFQ we really liked the size of the place as well as the convenience of the transportation. Our room in Parterre Place in POR was quite a hike from the bus stop and from the stop closest to our room the bus made four stops (3 in POR and 1 in FQ) before continuing on to the parks.
