we have chosen to stay at POR for our Feb. 2008 vacation...if you had to choose which section you could stay in which would it be?

ALLIGATOR BAYOU OR MANSIONS??

i am leaning more towards alligator bayou...i just think that theme fits our family more...we like the rustic look...

so please help my in deciding...pros & cons...TIA...

I think it all depends on your personal taste. DH & I stayed in Alligator Bayou in 1998 and have requested a room in that section again for our trip this year. Our taste is definitely more the rustic look. In my opinion, the flowery decorations in the Mansion section can be found in any hotel room anywhere. But other people prefer that look.

We stayed in the Alligator Bayou section a few years ago. Loved it! I really liked the curving shaded walk ways, looking at the leaf and twig imprints made in the concrete path, walking over little streams past lily pad filled ponds... So beautiful. At night, you can hear the frogs. (Well, okay, Disney pipes the sounds through speakers in the bushes - but it's still nice to hear) I do like the theming of the rooms better in the Mansion section, but I'll pass on them again next summer and stay at Alligator Bayou. I can't wait.

Just back from 4 nights at POR. I requested AB, but got the Mansions. I didn't care for them at all. The grounds were nice (especially at night), but the room did nothing for us.

thanks for your input...keep them coming...i really do like the alligator bayou feel more...which is where dh wants to stay at...i was only asking because his cousin and her family are coming with us and they want to stay in the mansion's...and dh wanted to stay in an adjoining room...so we were gonna go ahead and stay in the mansions just because of them...but the more i think about it the more i would want to stay in the alligator bayou section...if that makes any sense...it is our family vacation too...

The Bayou has adjoining rooms. We were in one with our cousins next door too!
